CALLING ALL TUNA! (Canned of Course!)So nice to see some of our older members back at services last Sunday. Nelda Jenkins brought her mother Vesta Thompson who was in good spirits. Syble Lampkins was able to be here after a long absence with illness. Ning-Ning visited from Van Nuys and Coach let us know how much she has meant to him and his family. God is good!
It was nice to have Carolyn Tyler present supporting Ron’s preaching, which by the way was excellent! We are blessed!
Ron and Carolyn Tyler’s friend, Bill Elrod, came and brought his brother Chuck from Missouri. Always nice to have visitors.
So glad to see the Hartzler family on the mend. Lindsey was able to be at church with the youth group. Praise Him!
Dana Little announced the engagement of daughter Erika. Prayers for a blessed marriage.
Ginny Fuller’s daughter Vanessa has some good friends that were involved in a tragic auto accident that killed the husband and daughter, and seriously injured others. Ginny is returning with Vanessa by car to Texas to be with what is left of
the family. Strong prayers are needed for safe travel, the remaining family dealing with injuries, and also for their lost family members.Polly Nicholson needs our prayers for complete healing. She had another lumpectomy surgery done Tues. April 20, at CMH in Ventura. The doctor was very encouraging and thought the surgery went well. We are waiting for the screening results to determine a course of treatment.Lift up those who have cancer: Jen Driscoll, Pamela and Anna, Myrla Baumann, Brad Walden, Craig Bowman, Betty Robertson and Donna Meyers.Filiberto Chavez from California, has asked for prayers to strengthen his walk with the Lord.Konni Jo Bryant and her children need our constant prayers & encouragement. Hold them close.
Encourage and thank those that showed up this week to help prepare the building for TNA. Cindy, David, Patsy, Loney, David & Pat Gibson, Brian & Matthew Malloy, Pat Parrot, Ron & Carolyn and Kara Jayne, Amie Wood, Bettie Lang, Gabriele Larmon, Barbara Washington and others. In working toward one of our church goals (collecting food for the needy), the Benevolence Committee is requesting those who can to participate in our food drive next week for cans of TUNA. As we considered organizations to which we might contribute, we considered sending our donations to the Ventura Church of Christ Food Pantry; however, we found that Ventura now sends its food donations to a larger, local organization called Project Understanding, which assists the homeless and needy.About 25 congregations in the area support the work of Project Understanding through cash or in-kind donations and through the volunteer efforts of their members. Some of the food is purchased, but most of it is
donated throughout the year. Some comes from big food drives like those of the Boy Scouts and the Postal Carriers. Some comes from congregations and service
clubs that collect a “food of the month.” Some even comes from individuals who
are just trying to make a difference in their community. When we contacted Project Understanding, the Resource Manager told us that they have just opened a larger and more efficient pantry and that their most immediate need is for cans of TUNA. The youth group has agreed to help us with the collection,
and we hope all of you will support this project. Bring as many cans of
TUNA as you can to next week’s Sunday morning service (May 2nd). Kathleen Malloy is in charge of the collection and Pat Parrott will be helping to see that the donations are delivered.
