A Mass of
Thanksgiving
and
Celebration
for the work
of CAFOD
Entrance Hymn: Here in this place
Here in this place, new light is streaming,
now is the darkness vanished away.
See, in this space, our fears and our dreamings,
brought here to you in the light of this day.
Gather us in - the lost and forsaken,
gather us in - the blind and the lame.
Call to us now, and we shall awaken,
we shall arise at the sound of our name.
We are the young - our lives are a mystery,
we are the old - who yearn for your face.
We have been sung throughout all of history,
called to be light to the whole human race.
Gather us in - the rich and the haughty,
gather us in - the proud and the strong.
Give us a heart so meek and so lowly,
give us the courage to enter the song.
Here we will take the wine and the water,
here we will take the bread of new birth.
Here you shall call your sons and your daughters,
call us anew to be salt for the earth.
Give us to drink the wine of compassion,
give us to eat the bread that is you.
Nourish us well, and teach us to fashion
lives that are holy and hearts that are true.
Not in the dark of buildings confining,
not in some heaven, light years away,
but here in this place, the new light is shining;
now is the Kingdom, now is the day.
Gather us in - and hold us forever,
gather us in - and make us your own.
Gather us in - all peoples together,
fire of love in our flesh and our bone.
Penitential Rite
In a world of plenty,
our choices have condemned many to
poverty and death. Holy God
R> Forgive our sins
In a world of great need,
we have chosen to keep what we have.
Holy God
R> Forgive our sins
In a world where so much is fragile,
we have trusted in our own strength.
Holy God
R> Forgive our sins
In a world crying out for peace,
We have made war.
Holy God
R> Forgive our sins
In a world that needs to hear
your word, we have kept silent.
Holy God
R> Forgive our sins
May God our rock,
who leads us into life,
grant us his healing and
forgiveness,
now and forever.
Amen.
Gloria
Refrain
Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace to people of good
will.
Verse 1
We praise you, we bless you, we adore
you, we glorify you, we give you thanks
for your great glory.
Lord God, heavenly King.
O God, almighty Father.
Refrain
Verse 2
Lord Jesus Christ, only Begotten Son,
Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father.
Refrain
Verse 3
You take away the sins of the
world, have mercy on us;
you take away the sins of the
world, receive our prayer;
you are seated at the right
hand of the Father, have mercy on
us.
Refrain
Verse 4
For you alone are the Holy One, you alone
are the Lord,
you alone are the Most High,
Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the
glory of God the Father.
Amen.

Offertory Hymn: One bread, one body
Chorus
One bread, one body,
one Lord of all,
one cup of blessing which we bless.
And we, though many,
throughout the earth,
we are one body in this one Lord.
Verse 1
Gentile or Jew,
servant or free,
woman or man, no more.
Chorus
Verse 2
Many the gifts,
many the works,
one in the Lord of all.
Chorus
Verse 3
Grain for the fields,
scattered and grown,
gathered to one, for all.
Chorus
Communion Hymn : ‘A Touching Place’
Verse 1
Christ's is the world in which we move.
Christ's are the folk we're summoned to
love,
Christ's is the voice which calls us to care,
and Christ is the One who meets us here.
Chorus
To the lost Christ shows his face;
to the unloved He gives His embrace;
to those who cry in pain or disgrace,
Christ, makes, with His friends, a touching
place.
Verse 2
Feel for the people we most avoid.
Strange or bereaved or never employed;
fear that their living is all in vain.
Chorus
Verse 3
Feel for the parents who lost their child,
feel for the woman whom men have defiled.
Feel for the baby for whom there's no breast,
and feel for the weary who find no rest.
Chorus
Verse 4
Feel for the lives by life confused.
Riddled with doubt, in loving abused;
Feel for the lonely heart, conscious of sin,
which longs to be pure but fears to begin
Chorus
Recessional Hymn: Tell out my soul
Tell out, my soul, the greatness of the Lord!
Unnumbered blessings give my spirit voice;
tender to me the promise of his word;
in God my Saviour shall my heart rejoice.
Tell out, my soul, the greatness of his Name!
Make known his might, the deeds his arm has
done;
his mercy sure, from age to age to same;
his holy Name--the Lord, the Mighty One.
Tell out, my soul, the greatness of his might!
Powers and dominions lay their glory by.
Proud hearts and stubborn wills are put to
flight,
the hungry fed, the humble lifted high.
Tell out, my soul, the glories of his word!
Firm is his promise, and his mercy sure.
Tell out, my soul, the greatness of the Lord
to children's children and for evermore!
