The orchid gets it's name from the Greekword, Orchis, which means "Testicle"

The name of the flower also alludes tothe tubers at the bottom of the flower,which resemble a pair of testicles indifferent sizes, hence it's exotic

perception.

One species of Orchid, the Vanilla Orchid, is the source ofvanilla.The Aztecs used to squeeze the vanilla out of the orchidroot and drink it with their chocolate.

The tubers, which keep the nutrients in the plant, are oftencrushed and used for cooking and baking
