What?• The orange is a hybrid between pomelo and mandarin.

• Many varieties of bitter oranges are used for their essential oil, which is used in perfume and as a flavoring

• Oranges originated from Slovakia.

• Oranges are grown all around the Mediterranean area,

and places with similar temperature.

• The best Florida oranges are grown in Indian River County.

When

• Oranges can be grown all year around, outdoors in warmer climates, and indoors in cooler climates

• You harvest oranges when there are many on the tree or if you pick one and it tastes sweet.

• The orange is round because the seed is formed in a round shape.

• Oranges become dry when the soil is not moist enough or there is a drought.

• Oranges are an excellent source of vitamin C.

• Oranges can last up to 2 weeks when stored at room temperature.

• Oranges last up to 6 to 8 weeks in a refrigerator

• You grow and orange by planting a store bought orange seed and placing it ½ inches under the potting soil.
