Introduction

o BACKGROUND

Lahore is the 2ND largest urban center and provincial capital of the Punjab

Province with a population of 9 million inhabitants in 2006. The transport

demand amounts to 6.8 million daily person trips for work, shopping or

recreation other than walking.

So we expected to rise to more than 11 million by the year 2021. (LUTMP) in

2010-2011, recorded 8 million trips per day in the year 2010. The major

percentage of this travel demand comprises of public transport.

Introduction

To resolve public transport issues in Lahore and to provide safe, efficient,

comfortable, and affordable transport to the public, Government of the Punjab

has successfully completed METRO BUS project and currently planning to

introduce a Metro Rail Transit System on the Orange Line (From Ali Town to Dera

Gujran), Lahore.

Introduction

o SCOPE OF STUDY The scope of our campaign study aims at collecting and

analyzing data related to physical, biological and socio-economic environment of the project area and to prepare the baseline environmental profile. It also aims at the identification, prediction and evaluation of the possible environmental impacts to give 100% awareness regards human health of the proposed project on its immediate surroundings on both short and long-term basis.

Collection and organization of data related to physical, biological and socioeconomic environments of the project area and to prepare baseline environmental profile.

Identification, prediction and evaluation of environmental impacts of the proposed Project.

Implementation of justification measures to minimize the adverse impacts; and Preparation of an Environmental Management and Monitoring Plan.

Introduction

o Need for EIA Study of the Proposed Project EIA is mandatory according to the Punjab Environmental Protection

(Amendment) Act, 2012 of Pakistan Environmental Protection Act (PEPA-1997). Section 12 (1) of the PEPA-1997 which states that:

“No proponent of a project shall commence construction or operation unless he has filed with the Provincial Agency an initial environmental

examination or, where the project is likely to cause an adverse environmental effect, an environmental impact assessment, and has obtained from the Provincial Agency approval in respect there of.”

Introduction

o STUDY APPROACH The study has been conducted as an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Government of Pakistan (GOP) guidelines, 2016. The study is based on both primary and secondary data and information. Discussions were held with stakeholders including government officials, community representatives and a wide range of road users and roadside dwellers. The main purpose of this approach is to bring out change in peoples to save themselves from environmental pollution.

o Targeting the populationAfter dinner we all group members gathered at our deseeded spot. Our targeting population is Jan Mandar to Chock Chubrji area. We visited that area to know the pros and cons of that project, effects, damage remedies by government to know, we all gathered and officially started our campaign. After selecting our “targeted audience” we splits in 4 parts.

o Strategizing:A campaign strategy should answer the following questions:

PROBLEM, VISION, CHANGE Our problem is to stop the diseases causes by environmental pollution. Once the problem is resolved ,our vision is to safe everyone from harmful

environmental diseases. Our target community use masks to avoid environmental pollution. Its a

change.

We started to collected data with about effectiveness and try to know about the GOVERNMENT and LDA related steps data for campaigning. Then selected our topic related data and research the metro and pollution and safeguard by that area of people(target community). We started to go door to door and shop to shop to meet different stakeholders shopkeepers, local residents, school owner, office workers, drivers, schools, university/college students transport users, pedestrians and representatives from different Government departments etc. or workers that works in the construction of orange line train project to dig out the reality.

Non personal cost: The Media foundation organization involves in our campaign helping in hiring consultant that we can say it’s a non personal cost in our campaign.

Time frame: Our campaign time frame is 1 week program from 1st to 7th September. We inform every member of group before one week to get ready for this

campaign. Before campaign we plains the project that meet campaign objectives,

identifies our goals that we will achieve in Jan Mender area our target community.

We collecting money for arrange the gadgets or sources that use in this campaign then we also create event horizon.

Frequency: We visit spotted area in 2 times per day in our campaign time period.

Practicality: On 3rd day on 3rd September after taking people views which was quite hectic

job but we done it well, anyhow on 3rd day we decided to aware people about environment.

We make three groups .one was assigned to make pamphlets second was assigned to make questions 3rd was spreading these pamphlets by all its effort.

On fifth day after proper consulting we decided to engage a NGOs named ( THE MEDIA FOUNDATION ) to make aware people as well as Government, about the damages to health and environment.

After completing our ground work, we started to implementation practically .we were well aware by all facts and figures. So we categorized our work.

Execution

Analysis: On 6th day we again go on field and started to create awareness into

their minds. And essentially analysis to got results. People became satisfied and starting wearing mask to avoid environmental diseases like asthma etc.

Our campaign is analyzed on day to day basis. Our campaign is consist of specialized consultant and professional

Evaluation

Repetition: We repeat the analysis again and again to see weather our goal to avoid target

community from environmental disease peak rate is achieved even 2 percent.

Modification: We got 27% result after campaign process.so I need some modification to get

100 % feedback.

Alteration: So we alternate our campaign slogan impact of orange line train project in

environmental pollution to environmental impact assessment regards different government projects.

Use NATURAL GASES, like LPG autos. Don’t burst cracker. Use less amount of fuel for vehicles avoid using and use electrical stoves. Wear always masks when u are on the road to avoid environmental pollution. We should growing green to breath clean.
