Oracle Engineered Systems are purpose-built

hardware and software pre-assembled and supported as a single system. Building every component in the technology stack, only Oracle can optimize complete systems from the ground up to provide the lowest TCO, easiest deployment and maintenance, and fastest performance for the services they were engineered for. These systems eliminate the risk-inherent, error-prone and time-consuming efforts of custom built systems composed of components from multiple vendors.

ORACLE ENGINEERED SYSTEMS

Oracle Database Appliance Database Appliance saves time and money by simplifying deployment and maintenance of highly available database solutions. In a single 4U rack-mountable chassis, it fully integrates two servers with hot swappable and redundant components and 12 TB of triple-mirrored storage for high availability, solid-state disks for database redo logs to boost performance, and support for external NFS storage for expandability. Further, customers have the choice of running Oracle Real Application Clusters (Oracle RAC) or Oracle RAC One Node for failover across the two servers. The Appliance Manager provides one-button automation to deploy, patch, and diagnose the entire appliance, including all firmware and software. The appliance also offers unique pay-as-you-grow software licensing to quickly scale from 2 to 24 processor cores without downtime.

Oracle Exadata Database Machine Exadata is the most powerful combination of standard hardware and smart storage software from Oracle that improves transaction processing and data warehouse query performance by 10X or more. Its massively parallel architecture also offers linear scalability and mission-critical reliability. Overcoming limitations of conventional storage, Exadata uses parallel InfiniBand interconnects to provide a data bandwidth of several gigabytes per second per storage cell. Exadata Smart Flash Cache addresses the disk random I/O bottleneck problem by intelligently moving hot data to Sun FlashFire cards and providing 10X faster I/O response time. With hybrid columnar compression, Exadata stores 10X more data and searches data 10X faster. Each storage cell has 2 multi-core processors and smart storage software so it can offload query processing from the database servers and analyze the data where it resides.

Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud Exalogic is a scalable data center building block of pre-integrated compute, storage and network components for private and public clouds. It is the ideal platform for Java applications, Oracle Applications, and all other enterprise applications. Exalogic Elastic Cloud Software includes optimizations and enhancements to Oracle WebLogic Server, JRockit and HotSpot JVMs, and Coherence in-memory data grid that accelerate Web transactions and Java operations by 10X. Exabus is the networking hardware and software subsystem that eliminates I/O bottlenecks via SDP, RDMA, and EoIB. Exalogic also offers virtualization, secure multi-tenancy and dynamic resource management, and application delivery control.

Oracle Big Data Appliance Big Data Appliance is optimized for acquiring, organizing and analyzing unstructured big data. It features Oracle NoSQL Database and Cloudera’s distribution including Apache Hadoop. Integrating 18 dual-processor compute and storage nodes, InfiniBand is ideal for MapReduce processing and data redistribution. For deep analysis, the Big Data Appliance includes R, an open-source statistical environment. And it can leverage Oracle Database for additional analysis via Big Data Connectors.

Oracle Exalytics In-Memory Machine Exalytics is the engineered system featuring in-memory software and hardware and an optimized business intelligence platform designed for advanced data visualization, forecasting and exploration of Oracle and non-Oracle data sources. Oracle TimesTen In-Memory database empowers Exalytics to scan up to 100 million rows/second and includes enhancements like support for analytical functions and up to 10X columnar compression. Speed-of-thought visual exploration is enabled by intelligently caching the hottest data using 1 TB of RAM. For data not available in-memory, Exalytics transparently ships the queries to underlying data sources.

Oracle SPARC Super Cluster SPARC SuperCluster is the general-purpose engineered system that combines the high throughput and superior single-thread performance of the SPARC processor, the RAS capability of Oracle Solaris 11, the flexibility of virtualization via Oracle VM Server for SPARC and Solaris Zones, the optimized database performance of Oracle Exadata storage, the accelerated middleware processing of the Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud, the reliability of ZFS Storage Appliance, and the low latency and high performance connectivity between all these components via the InfiniBand I/O fabric. With all of this capability, it is the most versatile infrastructure solution for running a wide range of complex enterprise applications and for consolidating applications, databases, and middleware workloads.

Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance ZFS Storage Appliance is the premier NAS storage system with unified storage capability and innovative data services. It includes multi-protocol support across multiple network interconnects, including GbE, 10 GbE, fibre channel and InfiniBand. To reduce costs, the appliance offers file de-duplication via ZFS compression and 10X compression via hybrid columnar compression for Oracle Databases. Providing high availability and performance, it has advanced error detection, self-healing capabilities, graphical displays of performance metrics, and a two-node cluster configuration. An advanced hybrid storage pool design automatically recognizes I/O patterns and optimizes performance over storage tiers and helps lower power and cooling requirements, enabling the appliance to achieve record high-performance SPC and SPECsfs benchmark results. Built on this storage appliance, the ZFS Backup Appliance is the ideal backup and recovery solution for Oracle’s engineered systems.

ORACLE DATABASE

Oracle Advanced Analytics Oracle Advanced Analytics empowers DBAs, data analysts, and statistical programmers with powerful in-database computations for information discovery. Oracle analyzes data in the database, eliminating data movement to external analytical servers. • Oracle Data Mining sifts massive sets of data to discover

hidden patterns and insights. It uses machine-learning algorithms such as anomaly detection and decision trees to predict outcomes, attribute importance and association to find relationships, and classification and clustering to group records.

• Oracle R Enterprise (ORE) integrates the open source R language for statistical computing and graphics with the database. ORE extends the database’s analytical capabilities by leveraging R’s library of statistical functions and pushes down computations to the database. Users can analyze billion row data sets and leverage the database’s parallelism and scalability without learning SQL.

Oracle Warehouse Builder Warehouse Builder designs sophisticated data warehouses, offers automated ETL processes, and configures end-user access layers. Data profiling and quality features include data analysis and relationship discovery, data rules definition and enforcement, and data cleansing and correction. Application Adapters enable users to leverage all the features of Warehouse Builder with SAP R/3, Siebel, PeopleSoft, and E-Business Suite.

DATA WAREHOUSING

Oracle Advanced Compression Advanced Compression lowers storage costs and resource needs by transparently compressing all data during all data manipulation operations. It improves query performance by reducing disk I/Os and maximizing memory efficiency. Advanced Compression also compacts SecureFiles, backups, and Data Guard network traffic.

Oracle Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) ILM transparently controls how each data record is stored throughout its lifetime in order to maximize performance, reduce storage costs and enforce retention rules. Placing data in storage devices, ranging from SSD to tape, ILM configures policies that govern when to move, archive, and purge data.

Oracle OLAP OLAP extends Oracle’s analytical capability by embedding a multi-dimensional database and a high performance calculation engine. Without moving data out of the database, users analyze data along dimensions such as location and time, as well as perform what-if analyses, forecasting, and over one hundred OLAP functions.

Oracle Partitioning Partitioning divides large tables by range, hash, and/or list to increase performance, simplify maintenance, and improve availability. DBAs manage, move, or archive partitions independently while executing operations in parallel across online partitions. Queries also smartly scan relevant partitions rather than do full table scans.

Oracle Total Recall Total Recall transparently tracks the change history for any database table. Using standard SQL, users query the history of table data, as it existed in different points in time for immutable change tracking, auditing, and compliance. It leverages partitioning, compression, and retention rules to efficiently reduce the storage footprint.

HIGH AVAILABILITY

Oracle Clusterware Clusterware ensures availability for all applications by restarting or failing them over to other servers when there is a process or node failure. This complete and integrated cluster management solution, available on all platforms, includes cluster connectivity, messaging, locking, cluster control and recovery, and service provisioning.

Oracle Data Guard Data Guard protects databases from errors, corruptions, and disasters. It provides zero-data-loss synchronization of standby databases and minimizes downtime with rolling upgrades and fast failovers. • Active Data Guard improves the performance of the

primary database while providing maximum protection and utilization of all resources. It synchronizes changes for all data types while offloading real-time queries and incremental backups to physical standby databases.

• Snapshot Standby increases the ROI of standby databases by allowing them to also be used for temporary read-write testing.

Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) RAC’s shared everything architecture is the cornerstone of the grid that harnesses the processing power of multiple, interconnected servers for a single database. The patented clusterware and cache fusion solution enable unlimited scalability and availability for any application without modification. In a database cluster, performance scales linearly when a server is added; and the system remains 100% available when a server is removed. RAC dynamically allocates database servers for optimal usage and transparently fails over all applications for high availability.

Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) One Node RAC One Node is a one-node version of Oracle RAC. It enables you to consolidate several single-instance databases into a single cluster while providing the high availability benefits of failover protection, rolling upgrades, and Omotion—online instance migration between servers for workload management.

Oracle Real Application Testing Real Application Testing provides rapid evaluation and adoption of system enhancements and updates while eliminating change-related risks. Database Replay comprehensively records and replays actual production workload, including timing, concurrency, and transaction characteristics to thoroughly test the impacts of any upgrades or changes before they are performed on production systems. No coding of unrealistic simulation scripts is necessary. SQL Performance Analyzer performs in-depth impact analysis and assesses outcomes of changes on SQL queries.

Oracle Secure Backup Secure Backup inexpensively manages backups for any data center with heterogeneous systems. It is the fastest solution that both protects file systems and Oracle Databases, and supports various types of tape drives—all this while providing a fully secure backup platform with policies, access control, rules, secure transmission, and encrypted database backups.

SECURITY

Oracle Advanced Security Advanced Security protects sensitive data stored in the database and traveling over the network. • Network encryption and data integrity protects

networks against eavesdropping and tampering and enables the database to be FIPS 140-2 compliant.

• Strong authentication provides secure methods for identifying users and preventing account theft with Kerberos, RADIUS, digital certificates, and PKI.

• Transparent data encryption discretely protects data against media theft by encrypting it on disk without changing how applications interact with the data.

Oracle Audit Vault Audit Vault provides enterprise data surveillance that protects against internal espionage, maintains oversight of system administration, and enables security accreditors to validate the compliance of the system to security policies. Audit Vault Collection Agents continuously extract audit data from various sources within an enterprise. Providing over 250 auditing functions, Audit Vault sends alerts, detects improper access and use, generates user activity reports, and protects audit data from tampering.

Oracle Database Firewall Database Firewall is the first line of defense for all databases. It monitors and blocks SQL traffic on the network with white list, black list and exception list policies, protects against application bypass, SQL injection and similar threats, and reports on database activity. Oracle Database Firewall is easy to deploy, requiring no changes to existing applications or databases.

Oracle Database Vault Database Vault is state-of-the-art access control that provides a highly configurable and multi-factored approach to database security. Rules restrict data access by using a variety of system variables such as time of day, client application, or network. Realms strictly enforce separation of duties by dividing and limiting the responsibilities and permissions granted to database and security administrators. With Database Vault, Oracle’s Cross Domain Security Solution facilitates DCID 6/3 Protection Level 4 accreditation.

Oracle Label Security (OLS) OLS meets regulatory compliance challenges by protecting access to sensitive data such as personal identity information, medical records, and national security data. OLS can store data of multiple levels of sensitivity in a single table. With data sensitivity labels such as “Top Secret:US:A” and “Confidential:NOFORN:C”, it controls access to information based on the user’s clearance level, accesses, and need-to-know. Enforcing mandatory access controls (MAC), it has passed the ISO 15408 Common Criteria EAL4+ evaluation.

UNSTRUCTURED DATA MANAGEMENT

Oracle Cloud File System (CloudFS) CloudFS is a storage cloud infrastructure that dramatically simplifies storage provisioning and consolidation. It includes a cluster file system and a volume manager for managing all business data, application binaries and personal files: • ASM Cluster File System (ACFS) is a general-purpose

POSIX, X/OPEN and Windows compliant file system for single node and cluster configurations. It offers advanced data services such as point-in-time copy snapshots, file system replication and tagging as well as file system security and encryption.

• ASM Dynamic Volume Manager (ADVM) provides a single management interface and a common volume management service across multiple platforms. In addition to all the benefits of ASM, ADVM volumes can be elastically resized without downtime.

Oracle Objects Oracle Objects allows developers to create domain-specific data types and user-defined objects in the database that interface seamlessly with Java and C++ applications. Object-oriented features include inheritance, substitution, and multi-level collections.

Oracle Spatial and Graph • Oracle Locator and Spatial support a wide range of

geospatial solutions—from wireless location-aware e-business services to geographic information systems. Locator, included free, provides the primary location functionality such as proximity and distance queries. Spatial provides next generation features such as linear referencing, network path analysis, location correlation, topology, and georaster images. They both eliminate the cost of separate proprietary systems and are supported by leading GIS vendors.

• Oracle RDF Semantic Graph enables developers to add meaning to data and metadata by defining a set of terms and the relationships between them. Oracle provides highly scalable and performant storing of RDF/OWL data and ontologies, partitioning and compression of enormous sets of subject–object–relationship triples, semantic indexing for documents, inferencing using RDFS, OWL and SKOS semantics and user-defined rules, and querying via SPARQL-like graph patterns embedded in SQL, as well as ontology-assisted querying of relational data.

Oracle Multimedia Multimedia manages imagery, audio, and video for over 100 file formats. Extensible functions include format conversion, compression, image manipulation, metadata extraction, as well as integration with streaming servers.

Oracle Secure Enterprise Search Secure Enterprise Search is the highest quality, easiest-to-use solution that queries all information assets securely. Key features: • Enforces access control lists to secure sources and filter

search results so each user views only data he/she is allowed to access.

• Leverages Oracle Text’s advanced features such as superior relevance ranking and automatic document categorization.

• Searches public and access-controlled content inside file servers, email servers, document management systems, databases, and portals.

Oracle SecureFiles SecureFiles is a perfected infrastructure for handling file and unstructured data (ie, Multimedia and Text LOBs) inside the database. It delivers high performance and scalability for file data exceeding that of file systems while retaining the advantages of the Oracle Database. Additionally, SecureFiles provides automatic file de-duplication, compression, encryption, and logging.

Oracle Text Oracle Text extends SQL to index, search, and analyze documents and text. It also performs linguistic analysis to cluster documents, generate gists and themes, and visualize document relationships. Other features include keyword highlighting, relevance ranking, and document-to-HTML conversion.

Oracle XML DB XML DB is a high-performance, native XML storage and retrieval solution. While embedding HTTP/S, WebDAV, and FTP protocol support to the database, it also provides additional access methods for navigating and querying XML such as fragment extraction and update, XML Schema validation, SQL and XML interoperability, XPath evaluation, XQuery, and XSL transformation. The XML Repository embeds the W3C XML data model and manages XML document hierarchies, foldering, access control, and versioning.

EMBEDDED AND OPEN SOURCE DATABASES

Oracle Berkeley DB Berkeley DB is a family of open source, embeddable databases that includes a pure Java database, an XML database with XQuery support, and a high performance, transactional database. They give developers fast, reliable, local data persistence with zero administration. Berkeley DB links its library directly into applications and eliminates the overhead of SQL processing.

Oracle NoSQL Database Oracle NoSQL Database is a distributed, enterprise class key value store for large volume data, latency sensitive applications, or big data processing. It scales horizontally to hundreds of nodes with high availability and transparent load balancing via an intelligent driver which keeps track of the underlying storage topology and shards the data. It features easy administration, a simple programming model, and adjustable durability and consistency transactional guarantees.

Oracle TimesTen In-Memory Database TimesTen is a memory-optimized database that enables real-time applications with very high throughput, zero administration, and instant responsiveness. It uses standard SQL interfaces and runs entirely in memory. TimesTen can be deployed in the application tier as a cache for Oracle Database or a standalone database. Cached data can be distributed and replicated across multiple servers for scalability and availability. DATA INTEGRATION

Oracle Big Data Connectors Big Data Connectors is a suite of software designed to connect Oracle Database with big data. • Oracle Data Integrator Application Adapter for

Hadoop simplifies data integration with Hadoop via a graphical interface.

• Oracle Direct Connector for Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) enables Oracle Database to seamlessly access data from HDFS via external tables. The data stored in HDFS can then be queried via SQL.

• Oracle Loader for Hadoop uses MapReduce processing to format and load data efficiently into Oracle Database for analysis.

• Oracle R Connector for Hadoop provides users of the open-source statistical environment R with the ability to analyze data stored in HDFS and to run R models against large volumes of data.

Oracle Database Gateways Gateways integrate various heterogeneous data sources. They provide data type and SQL translation and optimization, as well as transaction coordination so Oracle can seamlessly collaborate with non-Oracle systems. Gateways are specifically coded to the non-Oracle systems’ native interfaces to provide better performance and communication. They integrate message queuing systems like WebSphere MQ, data stores like Sybase and Teradata, and transaction managers like CICS.

Oracle Database Mobile Server Mobile Server is a small footprint database optimized for mobile devices and embedded applications. It provisions applications and synchronizes data with centralized Oracle Database servers. Mobile Server’s tools accelerate mobile application development.

Oracle MySQL MySQL Enterprise Server is the world's most popular open source database that delivers performance, ease of use, and scalability. It offers ACID compliance as well as row level locking commit, rollback, and recovery capabilities. • MySQL Cluster uses a shared-nothing distributed

architecture for continuous availability in the event of server or network failures. Data is partitioned across the nodes, while replication guarantees that two or more nodes store the same record. MySQL Cluster also features automatic failover and online node addition.

• MySQL Enterprise Monitor is a “virtual DBA" that helps monitor database applications, minimize security vulnerabilities, and improve replication. The query analyzer identifies and optimizes poorly performing SQL.

• MySQL Geo-Replication synchronizes databases across remote locations, distributing their workloads across MySQL server farms for scalability and availability.

• MySQL Workbench provides visual database design and ER modeling, forward and reverse engineering of MySQL databases, schema synchronization and comparison, and database model documentation.

Oracle GoldenGate GoldenGate provides real-time data capture and distribution between heterogeneous data systems via optimized adapters. It flexibly supports many topologies such as one-to-many, many-to-many, cascading, and bidirectional data replication. With a log-based change data capture process, compression and encryption capabilities, and ETL and JMS integration, GoldenGate enables low-impact data integration and continuous availability solutions. Use cases include: synchronizing changes and resolving conflicts between multiple active databases for disaster recovery; enabling zero-downtime migrations to new systems while ensuring transactional integrity with legacy systems; and offloading queries from OLTP systems on to business intelligence servers.

Oracle GoldenGate Veridata GoldenGate Veridata validates data consistency and facilitates rapid data discrepancy detection and resolution across heterogeneous data sources. With patent-pending technology, it provides high-speed data comparison across dynamic and large volumes of data without impacting the system and network.

Oracle Streams Streams is a comprehensive framework for capturing, routing, transforming, and disseminating events, transactions, and data between systems. This solution features message queuing, replication, event notification, and publish/subscribe. XStream adds an API to Oracle Streams to integrate custom application logic into the data capture and apply processes.

Oracle WebCenter Portal WebCenter Portal is a complete, 100% Java EE standard, and integrated user experience solution that enables the development of intuitive portals, external Web sites, enterprise composite applications and mash-ups with embedded social and collaboration services and enterprise content management capabilities. • Portal Framework is a facilitated development platform

that enables developers to create internet sites and composite portal applications with radically reduced effort. Portal resources such as navigation models, pages, templates, skins and other portal artifacts are centrally managed in a single resource management tool designed for team development and run time customization.
