Introduction to Import Workbench
Oracle Product Information Management uses the Import Workbench to
bring product data from disparate systems into a master product
information repository, known as the Product Information Management
Data Hub (PIMDH).
You can import the following types of data using Import Workbench:
• Items
• Routings
• Structures

EGO: Enable Product Information Management Data Librarian –
Set to Yes will allow the use of Product Information Management-
specific features such as Import Workbench
EGO: Thesaurus for Matching - Enables the use of a synonym
search when matching incoming external items to
(PIMDH)
EGO: Maximum Match Results- This option restricts the
number of matches the matching process finds for
every item. The matches display in the Matching Items section within
the Unconfirmed tab.

Fuzzy – A fuzzy search enables you to look for records that closely
resemble or sound like your word(s) , but are spelled differently
Eg – Kat, Cat , Telephone, Telefone
Stem - Oracle Text search will fetch all those items which are having
the same stem or root word term.
Eg – Stem (root word) – It searches for Stemming,
stemmed,stemmer,etc

Run Item Catalog Text Index and Optimize Item Catalog Text
Index concurrent Programs.
Cross referencing takes precedence.
If cross-reference then no matching.
No matching process for transaction type CREATE.
For CREATE, match status is “New Item”.
If source system is PIMDH then there is no matching or cross
referencing.

Key Learnings
Matching is performed on the columns defined in the match rule.
If already cross referenced then no matching.
If excluded then subsequent runs get excluded automatically.
If the ICC name is given then the incoming records will be under the
context of ICC.
A batch can only be deleted if its “completed” or “Rejected”
