When a void was left in the Texas Longhorn show scene this summer that specifically benefited the youth, many breeders, exhibitors, local and national businesses, and other volunteers answered the call. The inspiration behind The Source’s 2019 Summer Showdown was to create a showcase for the hard work and dedication of the Texas Longhorn Youth. The goal of the Summer Showdown is to provide opportunities and reward for that hard work and dedication, while encouraging the transition from youth exhibitor to future breeder. In 2019 we were able to give $30,000 in premiums, along with an abundance of other tangible awards, directly to the Texas Longhorn Youth. The 2019 event featured over 320 animals, 80 art exhibits, 20 ag mechanics exhibits, and 130 youth members. The Source is dedicated to the future of the Texas Longhorn breed, and is committed to providing opportunities that will help the youth and develop future breeders.
