• Tightening markets for cereals, in particular wheat: Drop in world 2007/8 production in EU-27 due to climatic conditions, increasing demand for food, feed and biofuels, price spike due to structural imbalances in world food chain

• Production trend: Stagnating, decreasing yields?

• (European) Durum wheat production declining sincepeak in 2004/2005
