W.E.A.T. is a l-2-week, classroom and field-based training programwhich incorporates components in renewable energies, green rooftechnologies, weatherization and energy auditing with strongcomponents in job search/job retention, presentation/ networkingskills, computer skills, customer service skills, soft skills, and anoverview of the renewable energy field especially as it relates toenergy conservation, retrofitting, energy efficiency andweatherization, technologies, and construction process,
Program Description
" 12 weeks of classroom and field training leading to arewarding position in sales, customer service,manufacturing, or energy auditing.Hands-on skills development.Strong emphasis on development of strong job search andjob retention skills.
r Components in computer, sales. and customer serviceskillsAssistance in identifying potential employmentopportunities with partner and other employersClassroom sessions take place Monday through Friday, 9a.m. - 3 p.m., at Operation A.B.L.E., 1"31 Tremont Streetin Downtown Boston and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for field training

r Instructor-led classes for one-on-one experience. Training in MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook
and Internet Navigation that meets employers'technologyrequirements
' Supplemental training provided in skill areas most desiredby employers, including Medical Terminology, QuickBooks,Office Specialist, or Customer Relations.
' Enhance your existing people skills to become a customercare expert
" After 12 weeks of classroom instruction, students work 30hours per week for six weeks at an employer site, applyingtheir newly acquired skills in actual on-the-job situations.
. Participants return to Operation A.B.L.E. for Job Club,additional job search instruction, career counseling, andski I ls practice/rei nforcement
n Emphasis on job search methods for mature workers* Learn to master online job hunting and application
techniquesr Access to job search resources for each participant,
including fast Internet/computer workstations, a full-service job listing and resource room, copier, and faxmachine

Senior eornmunlty $ervicf, Frnployment Program(scsHP)
Low-income job seekers over age 55 and older are in a veryvulnerable situation. In many cases a lack of job skills combinedwith advancing years leaves job seekers with a feeling ofpowerlessness and further plunges them into financial chaos andweakened self esteem. The Senior Community Service EmploymentProgram (SCSEP) was developed by the U.S. Department of Labor tohelp job seekers over age 55 get the training they need in order toget back to work,
The Senior Community Service Employment Program:
' Offers an opportunity to earn an 98.00 per hour stipend,working 20 hours per week in a non-profit or governmentagency
. Provides "paid internship"; on-the-job training experiencen Assists in the transition to a new unsubsidized employment
opportunity. Enables participants to work at sites in or near their home
communities.* Provides ongoing job search assistance
