8. Motivation for the meeting

  • Rapid expansion of OpenMRS, now in more than 15 countries
  • Unprecedented interest in medical information systems for global health
  • Stimulus bill and interest in all things EMR
  • We need to grow the organization and better understand the needs of healthcare professionals and developers
  • Evolution of the role of open source software in healthcare
