Aim

We work for Triple J and we are organizing a festival for the new Triple J Unearthed station. This festival will be held at all capital cities around the nation on the same day, the aim is to hold the events in a few different bars and clubs that are in walking distance of each other. 

 

The bands and DJs that will be able to play in the festival are the one that get played on the unearthed station.

Strategy

Festival name: Unearthed Fest.

Date: 11th Feb 2012 (Second Saturday of Feb each year).

Cities: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.

Creative Direction

In the very first meeting we decided the creative direction for our campaign would be in a similar format to the already existing Triple J Unearthed website, this being because we are promoting the event, but in a concert/festival. Our inspiration came from the website and magazine from Triple J, this being the colour, typeface, images and overall theme, so that it would connect with Unearthed Fest.

Media Plan

The following graph outlines the media schedule for the campaign.

The website would be running throughout the months leading up to Unearthed Fest, in order to promote it and give fans information about the event.

The Poster would be distributed in early December to promote around the cities and create hype.

The Line-up is announced in November, this ensures that fans knew who was playing and gives the musicians exposure on the Unearthed Fest website.

Triple J Magazine is released monthly and for every issue, starting in November and leading up to the festival, there would be a promotional advertisement and special article publicising it.

The Booklet is given to people on the day, it is a free and helpful publication that gives fans all the necessary information.

Merchandise is sold through the website, a few weeks before the actual event, ensuring that all are able to turn up to Unearthed Fest wearing the products so that none miss out and hardcore fans don’t go without.

The Unearthed Fest Facebook page starts in October and runs through to two weeks after the event, so that fans are able to easily obtain information on the event. We decided that it would also run a few weeks after the event is held so that fans could upload their own photos, videos and comments about their day.

Final Production

Logo

Unearthed Fest’s logo design was inspired by the actual Triple J Unearthed logo; this gives a direct link to Triple J. The colour scheme came from Triple J’s website, although the lines and circles that create the font shape was our own creation, this being because we wanted Unearthed Fest to be original.

Poster

As with the logo, the poster would have the same typeface and colour, ensuring that the designs are able to be associated with one another. The symbol of the drum was inspired by the actual Triple J logo, and we wanted to keep this connection because we are promoting a Triple J event. The font style for the bands are handwritten, and because Triple J caters for young adults, who have a broad music taste, we believed this style would personalise the poster even more and give a funky vibe.

I-phone App

The Unearthed Fest I-phone application, once downloaded, would be updated continuously for the user. The person would click on to their city in which they are going to and it would navigate them on to the page where it would include links to the band websites and would navigate the users to the additional pages such as the map, set time, line-up and news etc. etc.

Booklet

The booklet is a quick and easy way to find out what bands are playing and where. It is a free guide given out on the day of the event and also includes a map to ensure easy navigation throughout the city.

Booklet Map

The map gives a detailed outline of the venues that the bands will be playing at; this map shows the fans the direction they need to go, in order to ‘crawl’ from pub to pub throughout the city.

Triple J Magazine Advertisement

The poster design will feature in every Triple J magazine that is released in the months before the event. It will also be accompanied by a double page spread about the bands that will be playing, this allows for additional promotion of the event and the bands so interested festival goers can familiarise themselves with the bands.

Merchandise

These designs would appear on both tee shirts and singlets. All clothing is available in both sexes and various sizes. The purpose of the merchandise is to ensure on going promotion of the event even months after the event has taken place. This helps with the promotion of the event for the following year.

Website

The website created for Unearthed Fest was inspired by Triple J’s website. When navigating to another page the layout stays the same so there is a direct link to all the pages including the Triple J Unearthed website.

The youth of today are all on Facebook and gain their information from its pages. The Unearthed Fest Facebook page gives all it’s fans the necessary information about the event and additional news is always updated for them. The pages are easily navigational so that fans can see promotional items, such as the Triple J Magazine articles, photos from past events, sponsored material and links to other Unearthed Fest websites.
