1. Introduction to Asterisk

Asterisk 는 Mark Spencer 가 설립한 Digium 에서 개발한 Open source PBX 이다.레드햇 리눅스처럼 무료 배포 소프트웨어가 있고, Digium 에서는 Business Edition 과 라이센스, 하드웨어 등을 통해서 연간 천만달러 이상의 매출을 올리고 있다.

Asterisk 이외에도 다음과 같은 Open source IP-PBX 가 있다.

SIPX – 또 다른 리눅스 기반의 IP PBX

SIPfoundry는 SIP과 VoIP 관련한 다양한 개발 키트를 제공하는 오픈 소스 커뮤니티이다. SIPfoundry의 SIP 스택은 다양한 제품들에서 사용되고 있으며, SIPfoundry의 sipX PBX 솔루션은 기업들이 사용할 수 있는 또 다른 PBX 시스템이다.

3. Vendors’ Activity

국내의 매체에서 소개되기 시작한 지는 약 2 년 정도 되었고, 미약하지만 일부 활동이 시작되고 있다. 국내도 100 인 이하 기업의 비율은 약 50%에 육박할 것으로 생각되기 때문에 이 시장에서는 Asterisk 기반의 PBX 가 충분한 가능성을 가지고 있다고 할 수 있다.

3.2. 해외 벤더의 Open source 에 대한 대응: NMS 와 오픈 소스 프로젝트

3.2.1. Asterisk PBX

NMS 보드를 PBX 로 통합하고자 원하는 개발자들을 위해서 소위, "Channel API"라는 것을 개발자들에게 제공. 이 API 는 ISDN 호를 설정하는데 사용될 수 있고, 통신 채널을 통해서 전달되는 DTMF 신호를 처리하는데도 사용될 수 있다.

3.2.2. Open PBX

Open PBX 는 Asterisk PBX 시스템의 부산물이나, GNU GPL 라이센스 하에서 허가된다. 따라서, 위 두 개의 프로젝트 모두 유사한 코드를 기반으로 공유하고 있고, Open Access 보드를 하나의 솔루션으로 통합하는 것은 다른 PBX 프로젝트에 쉽게 참가할 수 있는 길을 제공한다. 더 많은 정보를 원한다면, 다음의 URL http://www.openpbx.org 를 방문해 보기 바란다.

3.2.3. SIPfoundry

SIPfoundry 는 SIP 과 VoIP 관련한 다양한 개발 키트를 제공하는 오픈 소스 커뮤니티이다. SIPfoundry의 SIP 스택은 다양한 제품들에서 사용되고 있으며, SIPfoundry 의 sipX PBX 솔루션은 기업들이 사용할 수 있는 또 다른 PBX 시스템이다. NMS 에서는 Vision 서버를 SIPfoundry PBX 와 연동시켜서 비디오 통신 솔루션을 제공한다.

그림 1 은 Vision 서버들이 비디오 통신 솔루션을 만들기 위해서 어떻게 SIPfoundry PBX 시스템과 상호 동작할 수 있는 지를 보여주고 있다.

Vision 비디오 게이트웨이와 Vision 시그널링 서버는 PSTN 의 종단에 사용되고, 그 신호들을 SIP 과 RTP 로 변환하기 위해서 사용된다. 이러한 신호들은 sipX PBX 시스템으로 전달된다. 이 PBX 는 Vision VoiceXML 서버를 사용하여 영상 사서함 솔루션 혹은 다른 형태의 IVR (Interactive Voice Response)

3.2.4. Mobicents

Mobicents 는 Jain SLEE 규격을 사용하는 오픈 소스 텔레콤 애플리케이션 서버 환경의 첫 번째 접근법이다. Jain SLEE 환경은 다양한 통신 프로토콜을 위한 리소스 어댑터들을 정의함으로써 현재의 지능망 텔레콤 환경을 IMS 로 옮겨갈 수 있게 해준다. 그 프로젝트는 이미 SIP, Asterisk, XMPP, Diameter 와 Parlay/Parlay-X 용 리소스 어댑터들을 포함하고 있다.

SLEE 는 통합을 위해서 Open Access 보드와 Vision 서버군 두 개 모두를 사용할 수 있게 해준다. 예를 들면, TX 4000 보드 군을 사용하여 SS7 리소스 어댑터를 개발할 수 있다. 이것은 다양한 프로토콜 레벨 위에서 SS7 상호 연동을 SLEE 환경에 추가해 준다. 미국 시장도 최근 들어서 빠르게 IPT 로 바뀌어 가고 있는 추세이며 Fonality 의 PBXtra 제품의 Control panel 인 HUD 는 TMC 에서 선정한 2006 년도 올해의 제품에 선정되었고, Fonality 가 인수한 Trixbox 의 Trixbox appliance 는 2007 년도 Innovation award 를 수상하며 시장의 호응을 얻고 있다.

2006 년 미국에서는 Fonality 의 PBXtra 가 히트했는데 Cisco 에서도 UC500 을 출시하여 SMB 시장에 대응하고 있다. http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps7293/index.html

PBXtra 의 인기는 쉬운 설치(비전문가라 하더라도 30 분이면 설치가 가능)와 비교적 낮은 가격, 풍부한 기능(Avaya IP Office 보다 기능이 더 풍부함)에 기반하는데 판매망만 확보된다면 이러한 인기는 지속될 수 있을 것으로 생각된다. 이렇게 생각되는 이유는 미국에서도 SMB 의 IPT 는 비교적 신생사업 영역이기 때문이다. 아직도 키폰이 큰 비중을 차지하고 있기 때문에 향후 IPT 로의 마이그레이션이

예상되기 때문이다.

3.3.2. 국내 시장

국내도 미국과 상황은 비슷한 것으로 예상된다. 현재 국내에서 Open PBX 를 판매하려는 회사들은 영업망과 기술지원 측면에서 경쟁력은 약할 것으로 생각된다. 전국 유통망을 갖춘 회사가 SMB 시장에 들어온다면 시장 상황은 급변할 것으로 생각된다.
