    John Kramer, KRCB Founder

    Dear Member,

I bring very sad news this month: KRCBs founder andPresident Emeritus, John Kramer, died in late February.

As you may know, John was also my husband, a romancewhich ourished in the cauldron of creang KRCB. Johnwas on sabbacal from teaching Polical Science atSonoma State, serving in Jimmy Carters White HouseOce of Telecommunicaons, 1976 - 1980. He wasperusing the FCC Table of Allocaons and discovered thata television frequency, Channel 22, had been assignedto Cota and had never been applied for. When he returned to Sonoma County,he gathered a group of business, government, and community folks to ask the

quesonwould our community support its own PBS staon? They hired me inJanuary 1981 to undertake that ascertainment and, subsequently, to build the staonand put it on the air.

John remained on the staon board unl he became sick last summer. KRCB is butone of the many remarkable contribuons John made to our community. He is sorelymissed.

    Good night sweet prince.
