It has been Home time since Colfax has had a good tinst class company of col- ored people, and the coining of Williams' Original Dixie Jubilee Singers to the Ridgeway on Thursday evening, Febru- ary 15, will no doubt attract a lerge aud enthusiastic audience. This com- pany numbers only seven men and women, but each one is said to be an artist in his or her line, and their pro- gram runs the entire gamut of vocal music from the comic negro melodies to some of the most difficult classic selec- tions. Of their appearance in Portlaud the Oregonian says: An audience of more than twelve, hundred people greeted Williams' Dixie Jubilee Siugers at the White Temple, Saturday evening, and from the great applause, every one was delighted. An ordinance to amend ordinance No. 251, entitled, "An ordinance to license and regulate the keeping of catd tables, billiard and pool tables aud the playing of any game or games in any place of business in the City of Coifax, other than in places licensed under other ordinances of said city, prescribing the license fee, and prescribing penalty for the violation of this ordinance." Approved March 18th, 1902, and repealing ordinances No. 249 and No. 250. The city council of the city of Colfax do ordain as follows: Section 1. That Section 2of Ordinance 251, approved March lHth, 1902, be amended to read as follows: "Sec, 2. Any person desiring a licence under this ordinance sh^ll make application therefor to the city council in writing and shall accompany said application with th^ city treasurer's receipt for tne license fees aa here- after prescribed and shalJ also at the same time present a bond signed by at least two freeholders of said city, in the penal sum of two hundred and fiftydollars conditioned that the applicant will keep an orderly house, will not allow gambling as denned by the laws of the state of Washingtnti m his place of b:-.ni- ness nor in any room connected therewith." Hereafter it shall be unlawful for any person or persons conducting places of business in which are permitted any game or games of chance, other than billiards or pool, to permit any minors to play at any game therein, nor permit any rnicor to remain therein. Sec. 2. Any person violating the provis- ions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction there- of, shall be tined in any^tum not exceeding twenty-five rleliars.
