Takers to Your Test

Objective

You want to create and publish one or multiple tests and you want your employees to be able to take these tests over your intranet or over the internet.

Or, you want to be able to publish tests and have people register online to take your tests.

You may even wish to have your registrants pay a fee in order to take your tests.

If you are considering the purchase of TG, but haven't yet done so, we recommend scheduling an online demo.

Test Creation How-To

1 - In TG, create your test content and organize it in one or multiple question banks

2 - Import one or multiple questions from one or multiple question banks into a new test.

3 - Apply any of the more than 100 test settings and properties to your test.

4 - Save your test in a course--a course is a container for tests.

5 - Activate you test.

6 - Next, enroll your t.takers in the course containing your published test. Enrolling a test taker makes them eligible to take one or multiple tests. In TG no t.taker can do anything until the t.admin has created a user profile in TG’s database. Also, the t.admin controls what the t.taker is eligible to take and when they are eligible to take a test or tests. There are a range of options available.

Adding a User Profile

A user profile is a record about an individual. In addition to their first and last name, user id and password, the record can contain other information such as the individual’s email, address, phone number and more. In TG t.admins can also create custom user fields and populate them with organization-specific information like Department, Manager, Region, etc. In TG you can add t.takers by choosing one, or a combination, of the following options: 1- Manually create a t.taker user profile within the testing system or

2- Import one or multiple t.taker user profiles into TG from a TG-friendly .csv, .txt or .xls file

3- Use or TG AD/LDAP plug-in to synch your employees into TG from your AD/LDAP database.

4- Use an self-registration page to enable registrants to create their own user profile.

Options 1, 2 and 3 are typically performed by test administrators. Option 4 involves creating a form that will enable the t.taking audience to self-register.

Background Scenarios

The self-registration of t.takers is ideal for t.authors who publish test content to a specific audience: examples include nursing, construction and real estate.

These authors are also providing either online or classroom training, or both. Their test-taking audience is purchasing content from the t.author.

Through email, or a link on the t.author’s web page, the prospective t.taker is directed to a registration page. The t.taker is provided with information about the t.author’s test content.

The purchase of the test content may vary from a single test, to the purchase of a subscription and multiple tests. The t.author defines the terms of the purchase and describes the options on the registration page.

Content

The t.author creates the test content in Test Generator and publishes one or multiple tests.

These tests can be organized under one or multiple courses and a t.taker may be given access to one or multiple courses depending on the registration options provided by the t.author.

Merchant Account

The purchase transaction between the t.taker and the t.author is usually handled through the t.author’s merchant account.

The t.taker pays for their online purchase using a credit card, the card is processed through the merchant account and the money is deposited in the

t.author’s bank account.

Access to Testing

The terms and availability of tests will vary depending on the terms of the sale.

Options include:

1- The test is launched upon completion of the registration form.

2- The t.taker receives an email confirmation and instructions for accessing the test(s). These instructions may include a user ID and password and a link to the testing site. The t.author defines the message and the registration form behaviors. FCO provides guidance in the creation of the form as well as offering suggestions regarding the organization of test content and form behaviors.

3- The t.taker is registered in TG’s database but is not automatically enrolled in a course. Under this scenario, the t.author wants to control the enrollment process in a course and tests. This t.author also has the option of enrolling or un-enrolling a t.taker based on their subscription

User Account

Once an individual completes the registration process, a user profile is created in TG’s database.

The profile will vary depending on the amount of data the t.author wishes to collect.

This can be as simple as first and last name, email and a userID and password defined by the t.taker.

The t.author can also create a registration form that requires more t.taker data such as address, phone and company information.

Also, TG enables the t.author to create up to 10 custom fields. These custom fields are then mapped the registration form fields.
