Onion experiment

We half fill a jar with water. We put an onion on top of the jar and just immerse

it in water. We put the jar with the onion on a sunny window sill. We observe what is happening during the following days. We put in more water into the jar as the

onion is drinking up the water. Then roots begin to appear in the part of the

onion that is in the water. More and more roots begin to grow. Then

something else happened. Long leaves begin to sprout from the top of the

onion. More and more leaves sprout till there are many leaves.
