The scope of this project is to construct a new 3 BR residence served by a dual drip dispersal septic system with pretreatment. A drip dispersal design was selected due to 1) the extremely limited area of the property meeting setbacks from the creek, adjacent property water well, and road easement, and 2) insufficient depth of soil (48" SP1, 36" SP2) for permitting of a conventional gravity flow septic system.

The proposed septic system design is requested for conditional approval pending future submission of building plans for the new residence. The system consists of the following components (in order of flow direction): 1) Sewage ejector pump and basin from planned house 2) AquaKlear aerobic treatment unit (Model AK500F - NSF 40 listed) (note the manufacturer specifies no upstream septic tank per NSF certification testing protocol) 3) Selvage 810 gal. concrete pump chamber (Model SU810 - IAMPMO certified) 4) Headworks manifold for Geoflow drip dispersal system including 100 micron filter and solenoid valves to alternate dosing between dispersal fields. 5) Dual Geoflow drip dispersal fields meeting infiltrative area (375 sq ft per field) required for 3 BR peak flow (450 gpd) at the adjusted percolation rate of 6 MPI observed.

STEP BY STEP INSTALLATION PROCEDURES: 1. Stake out all components of system and have licensed surveyor mark setbacks lines. 2. Prepare dripfield area by removing brush, small shrubs and one (1) tree. (using care to minimizing soil disturbance when removing roots) 3. Fence off dripfield areas to prevent disturbance/compaction of soil. 4. Excavate treatment unit and pump tank pit. Install units and backfill as per manufacturers recommendations. 5. Excavate trenching for sewer and septic tight line pipes. Install piping. 6. Excavate trenching for electrical/signal wire conduit. Install wiring. 7. Install driplines and make connections to supply/return lines. Backfill and compact with tract roller, 2 passes. (note driplines are typically installed simulaneously with ripping of 12" depth, 2-3" wide dripline trenches) 8. Backfill components, restore proper grading, cover w/ straw mulch & seed areas.

The area of each triangle calculated (1/2xbxh) is printed for each shaded area. Note that the actual infiltrative area on the ground surface is slightly larger than the areas calculated here. This is because calculations were done based on the x - y axis of the survey plan and the actual topographical surface of the area(s) have slope that could be measured in the in z axis. Down- slope measurements using the z axis would always be slightly longer than those done in the x or y axis due to the pythagorean theorem stating that the square of hypotenuse = square of the two sides of a right triangle.
