The Saffir- Simpson Hurricane Scale was formed by Herbert Saffir and Bob Simpson. They categorize hurricane by their wind speeds.

them on where they hit land. If they hit in a part of a state that was what the named the hurricane. They also put the year that it made landfall. For example The Galveston Hurricane of 1900.

Parts of a Hurricane There are four main parts of a hurricane.

Those parts are the eye, eye wall, spiral rain bands, and rain shields.

Hurricane Preparedness Before a hurricane you should have a

plan made out. You should also have a copy of all emergency information.

During a hurricane make sure you have plenty of non-perishable food. Also stay with a family member at all times.
