“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” (1 John 3:1, NIV)

As children of God, we are one family — a royal family — drawn together by Christ to build His Kingdom. What a great privilege, and what a great purpose!

Thank you for partnering with Bible League Canada in joint ministry with our brothers and sisters around the world.

You have played a vital role in introducing 1,225,151 people to Jesus Christ this year. Through our global family, you have helped to bring each of these people face to face with our living Saviour, by the power of the Holy Spirit, through God’s Word.

This annual report offers you a glimpse of how the lives of men and women, boys and girls have been transformed from the inside out. I hope you are encouraged and inspired in your faith by what you read.

We are deeply grateful for your shared passion for God’s Word and your desire to act together as God’s family to help expand Christ’s Kingdom.

We are grateful for the generous giving by so many.

We are grateful for our Joint Ministry Partners around the worldChrist is building a Kingdom of justice and righteousness through His family, the Church. We believe that great fruit comes when Christians work together. So we work with our brothers and sisters as Joint Ministry Partners to bring the Good News of Jesus that can transform lives in every community and nation.

Joint Ministry Partners in our work

Working in joint ministry honours and delights our Father as we work together in unity. In addition, our work becomes more effective and cost efficient because our local ministry partners understand the cultural and religious contexts where they work. When children meet Jesus through God’s Word, their hearts are transformed from the inside out. In Christ, these young believers find new hope and freedom from spiritual oppression.

You have helped introduce children to Jesus this year through children’s Bible clubs, vacation Bible schools and partnerships with national governments to bring a Christian worldview to education systems. Sometimes all it takes is one child to inspire an entire family to follow Christ and start a new church in a community.

ADULT MINISTRY

By providing Bibles and Bible-based materials, you offer men and women the opportunity of a new life. In India, you have helped students learn to read and write.

You have helped introduce them to Jesus Christ and equipped them with practical life skills such as hygiene, nutrition and starting a small business. You have also helped provide Bible studies for adults, prison ministries and programs that help people learn about the Word of God and improve their Biblical literacy.

Bible-based literacy breaks the chains of poverty and darkness

Balraj found Jesus Christ through Adult Bible-based Literacy.

Soon reading, writing, and calculating money

became easy for Balraj. Through the Bible-based

lessons, Balraj also learned about Jesus, and

received Him as his Saviour.

Today, Balraj isn’t cheated anymore, his business is

successful, and he happily shares about Jesus with

those who come into his bicycle-repair shop.

children, trying to make a living

as a bicycle repairman. But he couldn’t

read, write or do math. He knew that vendors, and

even his customers, were cheating him, but he

had no way to prove it.

Then Balraj heard that a free Adult Bible-based

Literacy program started in his neighbourhood.

He jumped at the chance, and learned so much!

Balraj builds his business and his life through literacyAs a child, Balraj’s parents were too poor to

send him to school. He spent his days working

instead of learning to read and write. He

remembers peering into the schoolhouse while

the other children studied, desperately longing

to go to school too. But it never happened.

In a few short years, Balraj was married with

STARTING NEW CHURCHES

Christ is building His Church everywhere. We empower local Christians with discipleship training and God’s Word to transform their communities.

You have helped provide these modern-day disciples with mentoring from experienced leaders, tools to share God’s Word in their communities and hands-on coaching to help them start up to two churches where there are none. Now these local champions can spark powerful movements within their communities.

Empowering local champions to transform their communities

A night in jail did not deter this church planter.

Filled with boldness, Rosalino and Diego shared

the gospel with their captors. The policemen

were so moved that each one surrendered his

life to Jesus Christ. Today, this remote village in

the Amazon basin is vibrant and rapidly growing.

The same hearts that were once steeped in dead

tradition are alive with Christ — eager to spread

the Word to neighbours!

sharing their faith. Soon they

were confronted and taken to jail by the police,

who accused them of coming to steal organs

from the town’s children. Sitting in their cell, they

remembered the words of the Apostle Paul: “Now

I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that

what has happened to me has actually served to

advance the gospel.” (Philippians 1:12, NIV)

Two captives help captors find freedom in ChristRosalino, a member of the Quichua people from

Ecuador, felt called to serve a remote village in

the Andes Mountains, where people had lived

in poverty for generations. After completing

discipleship training, he and fellow church

planter, Diego, travelled to the village.

Reaching the village, Rosalino and Diego began

PERSECUTED CHURCH

The Church continues to grow despite increasing persecution. Amazingly, persecuted believers around the world don’t look to us to end their struggles, which include losing their jobs and being harassed by the government.

Instead, they ask for just two things: prayer and Scripture resources. You have helped provide Scriptures for oppressed believers and we value your prayers that God will strengthen their resolve and continue to empower the persecuted Church.

CANADIAN MINISTRY

We partner with Christian ministry organizations to reach people in Canada who don’t know Jesus.

The focus of our work in Canada is on children’s ministry, starting new churches and adult ministry, which includes working in prisons. You make it possible to provide Canadians with a host of Scripture resources, including online digital resources like Find A Bible and InScript. You also help us develop new partnerships to expand the impact of God’s Word in the lives of Canadians.

Through Joint Ministry Agreements, Bible League Canada provides financial support for our front-line Mission Partners in 43 countries. As well, national Christians in many of these countries contribute to the work of these same ministries, and churches that have been started by those trained give sacrificially so others may benefit. The result is an even greater impact and the sense of ownership of these indigenous ministries by local Christians.
