There are four characters. As a matter of fact, we can see a woman sitting on an armchair, a man in the kitchen with his son and dog.

The main topic is the strike of the woman and its consequences on her family.

DEVELOPMENT

First of all, in the foreground, we can see a woman sitting on an armchair holding a sign in her hands on which it is written: “On Strike”.

In the background, we can see the messy and filthy kitchen where her angry husband is located with his son and dog.

It is obvious to notice that the man is completely lost because he is not used to doing the chores. Some sauce is trickling down the stove. The meal is burning, the child and the dog have not been fed since they are starving to death. The

linen has not been cleaned and a can is scattered on the floor.

The woman has decided to go on strike because she was fed up doing the chores. She was considered as a slave and didn’t get any help from her husband.

She was also probably very tired.

She hopes that her husband is now going to help her/ to share the chores with her.

CONCLUSION

As a conclusion, we can say that the cartoonist Doty tackles an interesting issue here. In fact, he wants to show that women, who have a professional life, need the help of their husband to do the daily chores. The time where macho men

used to rule their wife and turn them into a domestic slave is forever gone/belongs to the past.
