On-Site Enrichment Activities Information Winter 2018 Hello Parents, The following is a list of afterschool On-site Enrichment Activities organized by the Stonegate PTA. If you have any questions, please contact Toky Jacques @ [email protected] After school programs will take place at the school and there is NO bus transport - families must arrange their own transport to get their children home. These materials and programs are neither sponsored nor endorsed by the Board of Education of Montgomery County, the superintendent, or this school.  Pottery Around the World : Where Art History meets pottery Winter session 2018

In this clay and mixed media art class for elementary students focuses on hand building and sculpture and imaginative play.  Our pottery class is a combination of Art History meets pottery. Children will learn about different countries and create that country’s famous ceramic art. The projects are cultural, creative and fun!

In this Winter season, students will learn about Japanese monkeys in hot springs, Russian nesting dolls, Chinese dragons, Winter Forest tape art and Rock art on canvas.

No prior ceramics or clay experience is required. More challenging work will be assigned to students with previous experience.

Stonegate Chess and Robotics Clubs

Chess Club is taught by experienced Silver Knights instructors using a curriculum developed by National Masters. Each weekly session is a mix of learning and play. Playing chess is a great way to develop a child’s critical thinking skills, sportsmanship, and patience — all while having fun!

In Robotics Club, we build, code, and have fun with LEGO® WeDo 2.0, a hands-on activity that combines LEGO® bricks, kid-friendly software, and engaging projects which inspire kids to explore the world of robotics! Students use gears, pulleys, and axels to create robots that move, crank, spin, and communicate. Each session includes new and different robotics challenges!
