OmniBAS-4W is an advanced Ethernet wireless device that constitutes themain Base Station indoor unit (IDU) of the OmniBAS microwave system.OmniBAS-4W combines industry-leading modem density as it can beequipped with up to four Modem Cards only in a 1 RU unit providing flexiblenetwork deployments and configuration agility (1+0 / 1+1 / 2+0 / 2+2 / 3+0 /4+0, FD / SD / HSB).

OmniBAS-4W

OmniBAS-2W accommodates up to two Modem Cards providing flexiblenetwork deployments and the following configurations: 1+0 / 1+1 / 2+0, FD /SD / HSB.

OmniBAS-2W

OmniBAS employs the latest microwave technologies to aggregate alllegacy ATM / TDM and Ethernet traffic and transport it toward the IP /Ethernet core networks. Thanks to Pseudo Wire (PW) functionality, thelegacy ATM / TDM traffic is converted to Ethernet packets for transportingtoward the IP / Ethernet backbone.OmniBAS-4W as well as OmniBAS-2W are 1 RU, 19² devices with fullymodular architecture and all connection receptacles accessible from thefront. Also, each unit features a high-bandwidth backplane with highaggregation capacity (4 Gbps) and advanced protection mechanisms (ODU,PSU 1, Modem Card and GbE 2).

OmniWAY-2G OmniWAY-2G is a traffic aggregation unit used with the OmniBAS system toprovide higher-order SDH interfaces (STM-1 VC-12) for network nodesrequiring such connectivity.OmniWAY-2G is a 1 RU, 19² switch aggregation unit that aggregatespacket-based traffic from up to four OmniBAS systems and forwards TDMtraffic toward the SDH network.

Network portdistributors

Regarding the network ports (inclusive of STM-1, Ethernet, E1) provided bythe indoor equipment, suitable optical (or electrical) network port distributorsshould be available. The exact location of the network port distributors, as well as the networkports to reserve, should be known prior to installing the indoor equipment. Also, all the reserved ports on the network port distributors should bequalified and tested before realizing the network connections with the indoorequipment.

Indoorpremisesconditions

The operating conditions (temperature, humidity) at the indoor premisesshould meet the specifications given by the manufacturer of the indoorequipment.

Indoorgroundingsystem

All racks within the installation premises should be connected to a low-resistance grounding system. The metal body of the rack, into which thesubracks are to be mounted, should be connected to this grounding system. The enclosure of each subrack must be electrically connected to the rack’smetal body (via a short grounding cable) to provide protection againstharmful discharge conditions.

Outdoorgroundingsystem

A dedicated, low-resistance grounding system (typically < 3 Ω) is required.A grounding point (designated GND) should be located close to the mountingposition of the radio boxes. The box of each radio transceiver will be connected to this grounding point, via the supplied grounding cable. This will provide protection against harmfullightning conditions.

Cable conduits Appropriate cable conduits should exist for the routing of installed cables, inclusive of the coaxial IF cable(s) connecting the indoor equipment with theoutdoor transceiver boxes on the building’s roof.

IF cables The IF cables, connecting the indoor equipment with the outdoor equipment, should be of coaxial 50-ohm type. The maximum length of the IF cables depends on their quality and theattenuation that they impose to the carried IF signal.Typical lengths can reach 150 m, using a low-cost coaxial cable of 10,5 dB /100 m nominal attenuation at 350 MHz, or 300 m, using a low-loss coaxialcable of 5 dB / 100 m nominal attenuation at 350 MHz.

Under no circumstance should the total attenuation (imposed bythe IF cable itself) exceed 16 dB at 350 MHz.

Outdoorinstallationrequirements

· The outdoor equipment, inclusive of the radio transceiver(s) andantenna(s), should be mounted on a mast or on a tower.

· The pole, onto which the system will be mounted:- Should have 2,5” to 4” outer diameter- Should be perfectly perpendicular to allow correct alignment of the

antenna.· Each antenna should point toward the antenna of the remote station,

according to the planned co-ordinates. No obstacles should exist betweenthe antennas’ beaming lobes.
