Omni-Fi Premium Wi-Fi Service is a customizable whole-home mesh Wi-Fi service that provides wall to wall coverage for any size home. Your OmniTel installation will provide a secure network, tested coverage, and training to connect your household devices. After the install, you will have peace of mind knowing you have a powerful mesh Wi-Fi network that automatically updates when connected to your OmniTel internet service and should you experience a node failure, a replacement is part of the Omni-Fi Premium Wi-Fi Service Plan.

OMNI-FI COVERAGEHaving fast Internet in the living room is great – but consumers want to use their devices everywhere in the home. Many consumers who want to use connected devices in all areas of their home currently have inadequate signal coverage because the current Wi-Fi router may not be at a central location. It might be in an upstairs bedroom, downstairs in the o�ce, or in the basement. With Omni-Fi Service, the Wi-Fi router will be placed in the optimal location for coverage and additional Omni-Fi nodes will be placed as needed to provide whole-home coverage. The Omni-Fi nodes allow for a fully customized solution tailored for each customer’s Wi-Fi needs.

OMNI-FI SECURITYNetwork and device security are vitally important. Concerns about privacy and security are among the primary reasons why many households have not adopted smart home devices and applications. Concerns about identity theft, viruses, and unauthorized access to personal content are addressed through automatic software updates, which helps to ensure the network is always up to date and the home network is safe and highly secure.

OMNI-FI WI-FI ROUTEROmni-Fi Service is a mesh Wi-Fi system which consists of a main router that connects directly to your OmniTel Internet, and a series of nodes, placed around the home. We call them Omni-Fi nodes. These nodes create a single wireless network with one password. In contrast, a standard router is limited to one location and operates much like a speaker. You could be playing music loudly in the front of your home, but the o�ce in the back will only hear a faint echo. Omni-Fi is di�erent!

Omni-Fi Service allows you to spread the Wi-Fi throughout your home using multiple nodes. This creates a true whole-home Wi-Fi system so you get solid coverage from one end to the other. Omni-Fi is flexible and scalable. It’s just like installing lighting fixtures to illuminate your home; you choose how many nodes to place and which rooms need the coverage.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

WHY IS THE OMNI-FI ROUTER SO IMPORTANT?On average each person has 8 Internet connected devices, which means your busy family may easily have 20 or more devices connected to Wi-Fi. The router takes the Internet speeds from your OmniTel Internet package and makes them available to all the devices. Outdated routers can limit availability and performance for all your connected devices.

WHAT CAUSES POOR WI-FI PERFORMANCE?Too many devices all demanding bandwidth at the same time can cause Wi-Fi to perform poorly. Signal strength may be weak in certain areas of your home. Floors, doors, and walls can impact signal strength, as can materials such as metal, brick and concrete. Distance from the router will also impact signal strength. Interference from other devices like baby monitors, microwave ovens and even certain lighting can be the culprit.

DO I NEED TO CARE ABOUT WI-FI BANDS?Omni-Fi Service provides a tri-band Wi-Fi router. Standard Wi-Fi routers are dual band, with a 2.4ghz band and a 5ghz band. Many older devices can only connect on the 2.4ghz band which means it can sometimes be congested. It is good for longer distances. The 5ghz channel is great for short distances and can deliver faster speeds for streaming and gaming. Most new devices use the 5ghz band, and when available, it is the preferred band, with less congestion, less interference and higher speeds. The Omni-Fi router has a secondary 5ghz channel that is used for the Wi-Fi router and Omni-Fi nodes to communicate with each other. This creates a very stable Wi-Fi experience and the best news is that with Omni-Fi Service, your devices will automatically connect to the right band so you won’t have to care about it.
