Birth Date

Omar Bradley was born February 12th

1893 in Clark Missouri.

His Family

His dad John Smith Bradley was a school

teacher

His mother Sarah Elizabeth Bradleystayed home to take care of the children.

All his brothers and sisters had passed

away by the time he was born.

His education

His mother homeschooled him and for

high school he attend Moberly high school.

Bradley after making enough money from

the railroad attended the University of

Missouri. At the University Bradley had a major

change of interest into military and so a

teacher requested he take exams to get

into west point.

West Point

Bradley was one of the few who liked the

idea of discipline and military life in a

education setting. He graduated in June 12th 1915 he was

44th in his class of 119.

The 14th infantry

Was Bradley's first every unit he was

attached to.

They were stationed at Yuma Arizona. Later they moved into Mexico during the

Mexican civil war.

his taught Bradley many things as ayoung officer.

Back to West Point

After his time with the 14th infantry Bradley

had been promoted to a Lieutenant

Colonel he had been reassigned to teach

mathematics at west point.

2nd armored

Bradley was reassigned to help train the

newly forming armor division under

General George S. Patton

At this time Bradley was a Brigadier

General.

During this time Bradley gave his greatest

contribution to the army the formation of

the Officer Cadet School(OCS)

WW2

During the Mobilization for the war in

Europe Bradley was given command of

the 82nd infantry division.

82nd infantry

The 82nd infantry when Bradley took

control was only a few veterans from WW1

and mostly draftees.

After 2 months with Bradley the 82nd was

rated the best trained and lead infantry

divisions in the U.S army.

Pre North Africa

Before Bradley was to report for the North

Africa invasion he had multi-

reassignments

During this time he was promoted all the

way to a 3 star general

North Africa

Bradley was given command of the 34th

infantry division.

. Less then a month afterTORCH Bradley

had successfully captured Tunisia and

40,000 German troops surrendered.

Western Front

After Sicily Bradley was sent to the

western front to help plan with the D-Day

landings and to lead the infantry after the

invasion.

Market Garden

OPERATION Market-Garden was Bradley

last major assignment.

Even though the operation ended in failureBradley was responsible for the retreat of

the Airman.

Post War Service

After WW2 Bradley became the First ever

U.S Joint Chief of army group B

H

e also went back to West Point to teach.

Death

Bradley Died April 8th 1981

He was given full military honors.

He was buried in Arlington NationalCemetery.
