Om Parvat trek, a perfect blend of mythology and beauty surrounds this place that makes it all the more popular. Soaring at a height of 6,191m this place is known by different names. Some call it Adi Kailash, Chhota Kailash, Baba Kailah while some refer it as Jonglikong. This serene land is held in high esteem among Hindu followers because of its religious significance. One of the most remarkable thing about this place that coincides with the religious beliefs of various people is the incredible impression of “OM” formed naturally due to the deposition of huge amount of snow against black background of the mountain.

• Your journey to this enchanting place onsets from Mangati, prepare yourself to trek a height of around 2,440m before you stop for your first halt which is a tiny hamlet called Malpa. Make way through stunning lush green alpine valleys loaded with various wildflowers. Ascend through the beautiful village of Bundi where distant waterfalls continue to hum their rhythm in your ears. The trek from here is however steep and may challenge your wits and stamina.

Glance across the various ringing ranges of Mt Everest and Mt Annapurna as you make your way to the top. It is believed that there are around 8 other such ‘OM” formations in the Himalayas, however the one formed on the Om Parvat can only be accessed. There is something auspicious of its trek that makes this excursion all the more enthralling.

It is also one of the chief peaks of the Kailash Trilogy in the Himalayas which consists of Kailash Manasasarovar (Bada Kailash – Tibet, China), Adi Kailash (Chota Kailash, Om Parvat – Kumaon, Uttarakhand), and Kinnaur Kailash (Himachal Pradesh). The trekking may get challenging at certain levels, but the picturesque landscapes, gigantic snow clad mountains and cascading waterfalls acts as the booster that will assist you to continue your trekking.
