While the UK’s total import value for the first 5 months of 2016 recorded a growth of 4%, China and Hong Kong made the two key Asian exporters to the UK. Notably, imports from Hong Kong to the UK was up 21% in July over June, 2016, and has its ranking risen to the 10th place from the 13th place.

UK’s Resilient Retail SalesAccording to UK’s ONS (O�ce for National Statistics), annual growth in retail sales volumes continued to strengthen in August 2016, extending the positive trend seen since mid-2013.The latest data show an increase in retail sales growth of 5.5% in the 3-months to August 2016, up from 5.3% in the 3-months to July. A measure from the European Commission Services found economic confidence in the UK had rebounded and also exceeded its pre-Brexit levels in September 2016 (104.6) against April (104.4) and July (102.6).

UK Continues To Be A Top Tourist DestinationUK has long been a top visit destination for global holiday makers and business people. According to ONS, the UK received 3.80 million inbound visits in 2016 July which was a 2% increase on July 2015, and set a new record for any month. July’s inbound visitors’ spending is up 4% on July 2015 at £2.53 billion. A thriving UK tourist industry continues to create a big market and strong demand for various kinds of gifts and premium products, tourist souvenirs, hospitality merchandises and a wide range of related leisure & hobby items.
