The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at CSUF is one of 117 university-based programs in the United States. Each OLLI reflects the culture of its own university and its learning community. OLLI-CSUF is one of the largest and best-known OLLIs with a diverse curriculum and extensive membership benefits. Lifelong learners at CSUF spearheaded the fund raising and supervised the on campus construction of the CSUF Ruby Gerontology Center where more than 95 percent of OLLI’s classes are offered. Today, OLLI offers classes of interest to new retirees and those planning to retire. Each semester’s classes include study groups, educational lectures, discussion groups, computer education, physical activities, special events, and social activities. January 24 – Lessons from the Oldest Old: The 90+ Study (Mackey Auditorium, Ruby Gerontology Center) As featured on “60 Minutes,” the 90+ Study estimates incidence rates and evaluates risks and protective factors for dementia, functional disability, and frailty, as well as cognitive and functional decline in the oldest-old.

January 31 – Income Planning for a Confident Retirement.A certified financial planner will offer tips and strategies that can help you bring your retirement dreams and goals within reach.

February 7 – Tax Planning in Retirement This informative session covers how wages impact Social Security, tax advice on IRAs, 401Ks, pensions, annuities, sale of property and taxation of distributions.

OLLI SPRING PREVIEW MEETINGOLLI’s first open meeting of 2015 will be open to OLLI members and their guests. Come learn about classes and OLLI events for the spring semester, which begins Tuesday, January 20. Membership registration will also be available during the event. Parking is free on Saturday, and the OLLI Trolley will be available to transport you from the State College Parking Structure on Gym Drive.
