HOW DO I REGISTER?
Register using form on page 27
For programs that require pre-registration you will find the registration
form on page 27 of the Fun Zone. The registration form can be mailed with
a check for the program fee to the Parks and Recreation Office, or you can
drop off the form and payment at the J. Bryan Floyd Community Center,
Monday- Friday from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm. Make checks payable to the
“City of North Myrtle Beach”. .
Pay at the front desk of the Community Center .
For programs that have a fee for each class, a staff member will be available to take registrations at the community center before the start ofclass. You will receive a receipt to give to the instructor before class.

Sports registrations can be taken at the J. Bryan Floyd CommunityCenter, or North Myrtle Beach Park & Sports Complex at 150 CitizensCircle, Little River, SC 29566 or call at (843) 281-3800.
. Registration Deadlines .
For programs that require advance scheduling there is a registration time
frame listed in the program description. If maximum amount of
registrations are reached we will “grow” programs to try to accommodate
everyone that wants to register. If we are unable to accommodate,
individuals will be placed on a waitlist. If space becomes available in a
program, individuals will be called in the order they registered to pay and be
placed in the program.

BRIDGE CLUB
Partner play consists of five rounds of rubber bridge; six hands
each round, non-duplicate, or party bridge. Skill level of
participants range from intermediate to advanced. Partner play is
held each Tuesday and Thursday.
If you need to secure a partner before attending call Bridge
Leaders, Tony and Lenore, for a list of players to contact. If an
odd number of teams arrive, the last arriving team will be asked to
come back on the next bridge day.

The “game of a hundred intelligences,” Mah Jong is a fascinating game played with small, ivory-like tiles. The Americanversion played at the Community Center uses the National MahJong card. This table game is exciting, addictive and will keep yoursenses sharp.

RUMMIKUB & BOARD GAMES
Rummikub is played like traditional Rummy but with tiles
instead of cards. The game combines elements of rummy,
dominoes, mah-jong and chess. This program offers many other
types of board games as well. Game instruction and lessons are
available. No partner necessary. Players do not have to stay for the
duration.

KARATE
Learn defensive skills in a comfortable atmosphere! This
Karate/Taekwondo class combines combat techniques,
self-defense, meditation, and philosophy. Karate is a sport that
provides great exercise. The class is primarily for beginner and
intermediate students, however, over time students can advance to
black belt level.

SAMURAIWARRIOR ARTS
The Samurai Sword is the most notable weapon of the
Japanese warriors. The cane or walking stick is a practical defense
weapon for daily walking and hiking. The class is low impact and
all movements are performed slowly to start. A wooden sword is
used in this course.
The students learn numerous fighting skills of the samurai
warriors. Movements improve strength and relieve stress all at the
same time. Weapons are not allowed at the Community Center.

GRAND STRAND BALLROOM CLUB
Challenge yourself in a new and different way with Ballroom
Dancing. We welcome beginners, as well as, intermediate and
advanced dancers. All you have to bring is a desire to learn and a
willingness to try. Learn to Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Rumba,
Cha-Cha and more! Introduction to show dancing included.
Learn the secrets behind those great routines you see on
television’s “Dancing with the Stars”. Special bonus this season,
wedding dances! Don’t be the couple watching the dance floor,

The Grand Strand Ballroom Club employs a trained staff that

Zumba. The Zumba workout is a fun and energetic dance

WEDDING DANCINGYou have the dress and you reserved the tux; you secured the
church and the reception hall. You got the cake and you hired a
DJ... now its time... the bride and groom will dance their first dance
as a married couple. And yes, if you are the parents of the bride
or groom -- you will also be expected to dance. Video phones are
everywhere but DON’T PANIC.

BONES FOR LIFE /WALK FOR LIFE
This combo of classes, created by Ruthy Alon and based on
the Feldenkrais method addresses bone health, using strategies to
improve posture, balance and coordination along with gentle
strengthening using your own body weight. This is coupled with
the opportunity to rediscover the joy of “the walk’. Here again
specific lessons are taught to awaken the toes, ankles, knees, hips,
shoulders and pelvis; all parts of ourselves that are involved in an
easy and enjoyable “walk”. Walking poles are part of the
program but not required. They can be purchased at Walmart for
$20. a pair. Come and try out this very popular class.

The City of North Myrtle Beach Parks and Recreation
Department and North Myrtle Beach High School are partnering
to offer the NMB area youth sport camps throughout the
summer. Camps may include basketball, baseball, softball,
wrestling, soccer, tennis volleyball, golf and cross country. Camps
will be held at the J. Bryan Floyd Community Center, North
Myrtle Beach High School or other local facilities. Camps will be
instructed by members of the North Myrtle Beach High School
Athletic Staff.

ADOPT-A-BEACH ACCESS
The Keep North Myrtle Beach Beautiful Committee is looking
for volunteers to adopt beach access areas throughout the city.
Volunteers will be asked to clean their access two (2) times per
month from May to September and one (1) time per month from
October until April.
Volunteers can be made up of individuals, families, civic groups,
church groups or local businesses. Several access areas have
already been selected but there are many more to be adopted.

welcomes you to a sea of green! The St.Patrick’s Day Parade is the largest on theGrand Strand with over 100 parade entries and a history that is unwavering.
Masses of people line Main Street each year to get a glimpse of amagical parade that can only be experienced and not described.The parade begins promptly at 9:00 a.m. Be sure to set up your“viewing station” by 8:30 a.m. with friends, family, beach chairs,blankets, and golf carts. AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM
Registration is ongoing throughout the School Year. Register
at the NMB Aquatic & Fitness Center Customer Service Desk.
Payment is required prior to the start of each week your child will
attend. Kids are able to ride the bus from school to the NMB
Aquatic & Fitness Center. Kids will ride Bus # 9 from Ocean
Drive Elementary and Bus #3 from NMB Middle. The kids
receive support with their homework, as well as snacks, and
activities in the gym and pool. .

Beach Services is a division of the Parks and Recreation
Department offering the public chair and umbrella rentals,
refreshments and fun. We want you to enjoy your time on the beach,
so call beach services to have them set up City of NMB chairs and
umbrellas, serve you cool italian ice on a hot day, and/or provide an
exciting ride on the 180 foot long water slide. .
Trippo Slide: Experience the thrill of a 40 foot high and 180 foot
long water slide, conveniently located on the beach between 1st
and 2nd Avenue South.
Tickets and wristbands are available for purchase at Ocean Park,
which is located at 1st Avenue South street end.
**Slide is open from Memorial Day until Labor Day.
