Dear Peterites,

Greetings for a wonderful 2016!

Peterite Business Directory". The objective of this directory is to help or obtain the services of our fellow

Peterites, if and when required. This directory will carry details of Peterites overseas as well, the

information you submit will also be useful to update the Old Boys' Union general data base as well.

is also available on the OBU Website and on St Peters' College OBU Facebook. You also have the option of

perfecting the attached "Registration Form" and posting it to the General Secretary, at your very earliest.

Further, the "Registration Form" will also be posted to all members in Sri Lanka.

On receipt of the information from the membership it will be categorized into their respective professions

and these details will be uploaded to the OBU Website for reference by the membership.

I'm confident, that all Peterites will make us of this opportunity.

FOUNDATIONS

Tennis Foundation

St. Peter’s College emerged the Triple Champs at the Inter School Tennis Tournament which

ended in June 2015. Peterites bagged the championship for the 9th successive time in 11 years.

Winning all age groups. The dedication and hard work of

players of age groups under 15, 17 & 19 headed by the

College captain, Davishka Ranasinghe played an immense

role in the consistent performance. The intensity and

discipline in the coaching programme headed by Mr.

Dinith Pathiraja, his coaching assistants and the support

extended by Mr. Bernard Jesuthasan, Master in charge

has been a vital source of strength over the years. The

Tennis Foundation sponsored the College Tennis T shirts

for all age groups.

In recognition of this momentous achievement the

Peterite Tennis Foundation organized a gala event to

felicitate all 30 players of the 3 winning teams. The

felicitation was held on 24th July 2015 at the College Hall

with the patronage of Rev. Fr. Rector Trevor Martin. Other

distinguished guests, priests, members of the OBU and the Tennis Foundation, former tennis players as

well as 100+ current tennis players and their parents were also present at the occasion. The event was

followed by refreshments and a fellowship.

The Foundation also sponsored an

under 16 boy for a training camp to

Thailand to tour with the Asian

Tennis Federation (ATF) team. Due

to financial constraints He was due

to drop out of the tour, but the

Foundation intervened and made

that dream a reality.

Football Foundation

Peterite Football shines again in

Gold & Silver in 2015 and filled the

Trophy Cabinet. During July to

September, the most highlighted

fact was the representation of

four under 19 Peterites in the Sri

Lanka Schools’ Football Team

which toured China for the Asian

Schools Football Tournament.

The St. Peter’s College Football

Foundation fully sponsored these

players for the tour. In addition,

five of our players toured Bangladesh with the Sri Lanka under 19 team. During October to December

period Peterites performed exceptionally well with the return of the five National – Peterite Players into

the business in School Level with the remaining lads of Peterite Team. Their target was to secure the title

of the Josephian-Peterite Silver Jubilee encounter which was held on the 23rd October at CR & FC Grounds.

The St. Peter’s College Football Foundation and the Josephian Advisory Committee had jointly organized

of the Encounter with tremendous support from both Rectors and other school authorities. It was really

a Jubilee in every sense. The Trophy was named as ‘‘Very Rev. Fr. Joe E. Wickramasinghe and Very Rev.

Fr. Stanley Abeysekara Challenge Trophy’, and after a 5 year wait St. Peters College emerged victorious

over the spirited Josephians, three goals to nil, to win the 25th Big Match, leading the series with 13 wins

to 11 and one shared jointly. In the junior matches the U13 team drew the game 0-0, while the Peterites

grabbed the match in the U15 category 2-0.

The Peterites also excelled in the shorter-format of the game. They won the Indoor Futsal Soccer Carnival-

3 organized by Emma Sports Event Management in collaboration with Austasia Sports & Leisure Club

which was held in August at Austasia, Thalawathugoda. They repeated the success at the 7th Joes Futsal

Soccer Carnival, the biggest futsal carnival in Sri Lanka organized by St. Joseph’s College, Colombo 10

which was held on 31st October. While SPC U19 Team emerged Cup Champions, the U15 Team were Cup

Runners-up in their age group, the U13 team Plate Semi-finalists and little U10s also performed

promisingly at the said carnival.

The junior team also titled as District Champions at the U15 Samaposha All Island Schools Football

Tournament – 2015 in November.

In the Under 19 Kotmale Invitation Schools Tournament second edition, St. Peter’s College dominated all

their group stage matches which they won comprehensively and ranked Top in the Group-A. The

tournament was postponed to year 2016 by the SLFF and the organizers due to various reasons and will

be recommencing in the first quarter in 2016.

The Peterite Team excelled with classy football, a well-balanced team which possessed top of the bracket

talent and played with purpose and determination in every game they played. The opponents’ strengths

and strategies were not adequate to defeat the well-set Peterites at most times. The season is continuing

and expectations are very high for the Peterites to do well in the upcoming Tournaments as well. The

school authorities will be right behind them with the support of the Coaching Staff and the Football

Foundation of St. Peter’s College to achieve success.

St Peters College Old Boys Social Club Australia- Melbourne.

The 34th AGM was held on the 31st July 2015 at the club house and it was well represented once again. As always at a St Peters College Old Boys Social Club Australia Incorporated event, its starts with a prayer and ends with the collage anthem. The Committee then inducted two new life members into the club who have served the Peterite family in Melbourne tirelessly over a long period of time and they are Mr. Patrick Fernando and Mr.Keith Bennett. The gathering was hosted to a feast organised by the club for all members present. They ended the night with a sing-along as brothers, as they will always remain.

The committee organized a Golf Day in November and hosted a Christmas Lunch in December for the members and their families. Both events were well attended. They also launched their next big event ‘White Night’ Annual Dinner Dance to be held on 21st May 2016.

JPAA (Josephian Peterite Alumni Association), Toronto, Canada

JPAA Canada had their AGM and Founding President Upali Obeyesekere continued his third

year of his second term as President of the Association. A cohesive committee was formed to

conduct the sports and social events for the year

To kick-off the year’s activities JPAA Canada held its popular annual Fellowship Night on June 26th in Toronto. DJ-Rohan (Rohan Weerasinghe) dished out super music and kept the crowd on the floor most of the time. Guest of Honour was former Peterite Cricket Captain (1963) Tyrone Le Mercier and his wife Jean who flew in from Melbourne, Australia as part of spending a North American holiday. The event was well attended and kicked off what will end up as a splendid year for JPAA Canada. The next sporting event was the 6thAnnual Saints Quadrangular T20 Cricket Tournament Canada version. Played at the picturesque Ajax Cricket Club Grounds, the strong Josephian XI grabbed honours and won the tournament beating the Benedictines in an exciting finish. Earlier in the day, the Peterite team had lost to the Bens. Monday, September 7, 2015 was a statutory holiday in Canada in lieu of Labour Day. The 31st Josephian-Peterite Annual Cricket Encounter was held on this day at Ajax Cricket Club grounds. A high standard of cricket was witnessed throughout the day. The Peterites won the Masters Game played in T20 format captained by Dane Joseph, former Peterite cricketer. The Main Game was won by the Josephians who fielded a strong side. The next event on calendar was the JPAA Annual Dinner Dance on Saturday, November 28th that culminated JPAA annual activities. Entertainment lineup included international performer ALSTON KOCH who appeared at the dance as a Guest Artiste. Our own Peterite DJ Pradeep Thomas provided dance music. There were over 250 guests who patronized this exciting dance that brought the curtain down for the year for JPAA Canada. All in all, a splendid year!
