What’s On
Winter/Spring 2015
Welcome
Welcome to our January to April What’s On Guide. I am the Front of House Manager and my
team and I are looking forward to seeing
you at one of our shows, in the bar or café,
in the shop or at one of our classes.
We’ve laid out the brochure a bit differently
this season so it’s easier for you to
find the thing you’re most interested in along with
recommendations from some of my colleagues.
As ever, we’re bringing you great comedy, dance and
music and we think this is our best season yet for high
quality contemporary theatre. We’re also delighted that
Folk Weekend is back in April.
I’m really looking forward to our new Making Space
programme where we’ll be exploring colour, then fashion
with exhibitions, workshops and new stock in the shop.
Most of all I hope that when you come here you’ll find a
warm welcoming atmosphere. We’re always looking for
ways to improve so, if you have any suggestions, do ask
for me when you come in or, if I’m not around, leave a
message at reception and I’ll get in touch.
See you soon. Best wishes,
Isabelle Leclercq
Front of House Manager

Jo Stannard Retrospective9 – 24 January
For over fifteen years Oxford artist Jo Stannard (1975-2014) produced an uncompromising body of work characterised by originality and sensitivity. Her work, which included a series of ambitious site specific installations in Oxford and Bonn, reflected her interest in nature, philosophy and mathematics. This exhibition focuses on her photos, drawings and paintings, including the seasonal cycle, The Wheel of the Year, which explored the effect of the changing seasons on the natural landscape. GALLERY EXHIBITION
Colour as object. Colour as material. Colour as memory.30 January – 28 February
Colour is pervasive. A prominent aspect in our lives, it occupies both the background and foreground: it is a constant. Hue explores colour as something inextricably ingrained into our personal and cultural identities, something both subjective and universal.
Nick Wood joins Old Fire Station studio artists Jack Eden and Cath Watson to respond to these themes through a new series of artworks as well as a programme of events enhancing our appreciation and understanding of something that is conspicuously with us every day.

SupportWe couldn’t manage without the support of those that fund us and volunteer with us. We’re particularly grateful to our core funders:
And to Arts Council England for supporting Hidden Spire.
If you like what we do, why not make a donation? Every penny will help us include homeless people, support artists and show great work to the public.
You can donate via justgiving.com/aofs
or simply text AOFS13 (plus amount, eg £5) to 70070
Or if you’d like to join the team as a volunteer usher, in the shop or in the office then contact us at [email protected]
