Time stood still on that historic night whenChrist was born. Joy burst forth as the heavenly hostproclaimed the announcement, “The Lord hascome!” Never again would humanity be heldhostage, for the Messiah pierced the darkness byarriving as a babe in Bethlehem.

The awe of Christmas remains two thousandyears later. Lights blink an array of brilliance; thesounds of carols flood the airwaves; the aroma ofcinnamon and spice fills the atmosphere.

We who have cause to rejoice have discoveredthat Jesus is the reason for the Season! All theallurement and trappings of December declare theglory of God. “Though He was God, He did notthink of equality with God as something to clingto. Instead, He gave up His divine privileges; Hetook the humble position of a slave and was bornas a human being.”

May the excitement of that original Christmasfind a place of lodging in each of our homes!

Linda and I wish it were possible to wrap ourarms around every member of our Oklahomaministerial family. Our prayer is that every preacherand every member of your household would enjoy –

A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS! Our petition tothe heavenlies would be that an awesome awarenessof His presence may dwell in every church and inevery point of ministerial contact.

Thank you, for another wonderful year and forthe privilege of sharing another Christmas Seasonwith this network of our Assemblies of GodFellowship.

The staff and leadership team of my officeextends our love, prayers and best wishes as togetherwe sing:

Oh come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant,Oh come ye, oh come ye to Bethlehem;Come and behold Him born the King of angels;O come, let us adore Him,O come, let us adore Him,O come, let us adore Him,Christ, the Lord!

I still get excited about Christmas. What a wonderful time of theyear as we celebrate the birth of our Lord. The reality of this eventremains so exciting as we join together for the many events during the

closing of this year. Actually, it brings us together as we celebrate ourLord during times of worship, fellowship and communion. I must be

honest, I have always enjoyed the Christmas parties in the local church.Sometimes two or three in one night and the food is always delicious, but

the fellowship with those we love is best of all. I am thinking of many ofthose special friends as I write these memories. Some still live close by while

others have already made it to their heavenly home, but still I am thinkingabout them now.

Darlene and I pray that this Christmas will be very special for you and yourloved ones. May your joys be abundant and if this is a sad season of your life, we

pray today our loving Lord will be especially real to you and bless you with Hispresence more that any year you have ever known.

Please know we love you and pray for you this Christmas Day.

I pray that the spirit of ChristmasWill reach around the world.

And people everywhere will be blessedMan, woman, boy and girl.

I pray that all nations everywhereWill experience Christmas cheer.

And the joy that the holiday bringsWill last throughout the year.

I pray that all people will feel loveThat the season brings our way.

And may the Christmas spirit remainFor more that just one day.

I pray that you will be blessedWith hope, joy, and peace.

And everyday you’ll feel Christ’s love So your blessings will never cease.

Introducing Oklahoma’s NewestMissionaries

After 40 plus years of pastoral ministry Ted and Carolyn Heaston havebeen approved as one of AGWM’s newest missionary families. The Lordhas opened the door for the Heastons to join Global University under theumbrella of World Missions. According to Brother Heaston, “We haveenjoyed our years of pastoring, particularly in Tulsa. Now, God hasunexpectedly opened a new door that we are excited to walk through withthe vision He has given us.”

“We will be traveling both in and out of the U.S. touching base withthe missionaries, national churches and pastors overseas, and visiting churches, pastors and districtleaders stateside about the value and opportunity afforded through Global University. We will haveopportunity to affect the life long training of many individuals whom God is calling into His harvestfield during these last days. This will empower the church world wide. This is especially valuable topeople who do not have the means of pulling up roots and attending a college or university to receivetheir training for the ministry. It is an opportunity that is far reaching and will undoubtedly affect theKingdom of God in many ways for years to come,” says candidate missionary Heaston.

Ted and Carolyn Heaston need our partnership now. They have faithfully led one of our greatmissions giving churches here in Oklahoma for many years. Please show your support pastor bybooking them for a service in 2010 and supporting them with you prayers and finance.

Christmas is a time when everybody wants his pastforgotten and his present remembered.

Phyllis Diller

There’s nothing sadder in this world than to awake Christmas morning and not be a child.

Erma Bombeck

Faye and I trust you and your family will have the very best of all Christmases. We hope that you can spend time with family and friends, are able to shut yourselfoff from the daily pressures, and most importantly, have time to reflect on all of theblessings bestowed upon us as Christians.

“He called a little child and had him stand among them. And he said:‘I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, youwill never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbleshimself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.’” Matthew18:2-4 (NIV)

Is there anything more exciting than being a child on Christmas morning? And yet this is what God asks of us each day, to change and become like littlechildren. Not just on Christmas, but each day approaching our Father, God asa child, with excited anticipation of His goodness, and humbly trusting Himthat every need will be met and every care will be under His control.

Christmas is a time for giving and also for receiving. But there is a givingthat is not of things. There is a giving of the heart itself. There is the giving ofservice, of love, of brotherhood, of every thought that makes for good — a givingopen to all, however poor our personal possessions may be. It is the feeling andthe thought in our hearts which reach people and stir their hearts to a betterperception, a better feeling, a wider and stronger action. Let us take advantageof the resurgence of spiritual force that comes with the Christmas time.

B.G.M.C. a reminder to all of you who mayhave not as of yet gotten your B.G.M.C. pledge sent in.We would ask that you do this before December 15.

I would like to share an opportunity with all of youconcerning B.G.M.C. The Oklahoma district has set agoal to raise funds to provide 4,000 Northern Asiankids with a toy for Christmas. We do this by providingchurches with pictures of the children that they canthen put on a Christmas tree in their foyer where thepeople can give $5 per child, then take the picture andpray for them.

I realize that this is a very close time frame betweenthe time you receive this article and the time thesecuring of toys is due. The one advantage that we haveis that the actual toys will not be sent until January. Ifyou can assist with this tremendous opportunity, pleasenotify us at the District office and we will send you theinformation. Thanks ahead of time for your assistancein this project.

A second request is that we are asking every churchto place B.G.M.C. on their local church budget. Wewould all be amazed at what could be done if we had100% participation. Please give us a thought.

Merry Christmas!Jack & Faye SalkilChristian Education Director

Merry Christmasfrom the Oklahoma Womenʼs Department

. . . for the many different expressions of appreciation that I have received

from so many of you. My retirement reception at District Council was

incredible and will be a wonderful memory of the love that I have felt for

twelve years from the people of Oklahoma. The memory book will have a

special place in my home and I know I will be looking at it often as I miss the

daily tasks of serving this wonderful fellowship.

The Oklahoma District Council of the Assemblies of God will continue to

be in my prayers. I know that the future of Women’s Ministries in Oklahoma

will be outstanding because of the very talented, capable and Godly women

that serve in our churches across the state.

Merry Christmas from my house to yours and may 2010 be the best year
