Bass fishing was very good over the weekend, the full moon moved the locale of the fish but anglers figured it out and caught big limits to the scale. John Dunlap and his partner from Lakeport brought 5 bass that weighed 32 pounds to the scale. Several anglers were catching there limits in very shallow water well back in the marsh. The bite on the outside edge was non -existent Sunday, we had to move further back into the thick grass to catch bass, using plastics, flipping craws and tubes and fishing with

senkos and 10 inch worms. The East side of the lake is still loaded with bass which are scattered along the outside grass line as well as inside the marsh area. A slower approach was necessary to get bit, which we will attribute to the full moon. Several anglers said that they were seeing bass around beds. Blue gill anglers are still catching nice limits of big blue gill on red worms and crickets in the scattered cover areas. As the water is cooling, much of the bait is moving and the bass are following.

Art in the ParkArea artists and craftsmen are cordially invited to exhibit and sell their original work at the 8th annual “Art in the Park” in Moore Haven, Saturday, January 25, 2014, 9AM to 3PM. The event is non-juried and free. Painters, sculptors, photographers, and handcrafters are encouraged to reserve their place now.

The venue is the Glades County Library and adjacent park by the Caloosahatchee River in Moore Haven’s Historic District. The library’s address is 201 Riverside Drive. Parking is free and convenient. Exhibitors are responsible for their own setups.

Sponsored by the Glades County Public Library and its Advisory Board, the purpose of the event is simple: Bring artists and county residents together in a relaxed setting. There will also be music and food.

The Brahma Bull Restaurant & Lounge (2405 Hwy 441 S.E. Okeechobee) continues to update and improve our premises to make it more inviting to everyone. We have recently added another pool table (now have 3 instead of just the 2). It will be recovered in the “electric blue” color as soon as the material arrives. The new pool table lights are beauti-ful as is, but they are not completely finished. Come in and enjoy a couple of games of pool, have something to eat while you shoot pool and have a drink or two. Sat. & Sun. football games (especially on our 150” screen) is a great fun when you & your group become apart of the festivities. The featured game on Sat. and on Sun. also brings with it, our Monday night menu (hamburgers - $2.00, wings - $4.00, french fries $1.25, etc.) and $1.00 drafts, $1.50 well drinks, $2.50 call drinks, and $3.50 top shelf drinks. The reduced prices are only good during the featured game on each day. We will open each day at 11:30 on Saturday as well as on Sunday.
