Elyse, Lance and Mother Nature joined together to produce an unforgettable wedding. As Elyse arrived at the venue, it was hailing and tornado sirenswere going off. It was certainly wedding day to remember!
Wedding Ideas asked Elyse if she had something old, something new, some-thing borrowed, something blue?“Of course, I had something old, new, borrowed, blue! We were married on Friday, the 13th. I had to have all those things! My something borrowed was the last handkerchief Lance’s grandmother tatted, while my something old were the pearls my Dad had brought me from China while I was still in high school. New? My gorgeous gown, shoes and veil. My stunning garter was ordered from a small shop in London- my nod to the real life princess wedding that had recently occurred in England.”

The wedding gown was everything to Elyse. After some endurance shopping and trying on multiples dresses, when she tried on the gown that she chose, her eyes filled with tears. She walked out of the dressing room and no one had to say a word….every single person was in tears. Elyse chose a two piece dress that was elaborate, sparkly and lacy while the bottom was simple elegance. It was Elyse’s dream gown! Her shoes were seriously Cinderella - Kate Spade’s own version of a glass slipper.
Elyse chose a rich color palette of the timeless colors of champagne, ivory and blush. Echoing these colors, her centerpieces and bridal bouquet were lovely with

blush and ivory roses and hints of pale green.
Lance and Elyse danced to Dave Matthew’s “You and Me”. As the song goes, “You and Me together, we can do anything, Baby” and that was the truth…including hav-ing a tornado as an unwelcome wedding guest!
“As clichéd as it might sound,” Elyse says, “our families joined together to put love into every detail. We could not have asked for a more perfect wedding (aside from the tornado) and we have our incredible families to thank.”

Wearing an A line ivory gown embellished with jewels, Carley was breathtaking
as she walked down the aisle to meet Reg. Her amazing bouquet was an unusual
combination of garden roses and succulents. The soft romantic pinks of the roses
were offset by the cool grays and greens of the succulents and Carley bejeweled the
bottom of her bouquet stems for a truly unique and exquisite bridal bouquet.
Carley describes herself as the ultimate Pinterest bride and searched for many ideas
to use in her wedding. She found a cake design that she particularity loved….a
design that was different and “girly.” It is a beautiful cake and tasted just like it
looked. Fantastic!

WI loved the attention to detail and the fabulous birdcage centerpieces
were incredible. Carley wanted centerpieces that were a bit out of the
ordinary and because she has birdcages in her home, she chose to use them
as a theme. So charming!
Indeed, charming perfectly describes this lovely wedding full of happiness
and love.

Laura was breathtaking on her wedding day, wearing a slim A line fitted gown. Her lovely dress was accented with spaghetti straps and delicate beading around the neckline. Her birdcage veil was the perfect addition to her ensemble. Laura’s choice of flowers in her gorgeous bouquet was a stunning complement to her color choices for the wedding.
The bridesmaid’s wore dramatic black strappy dresses and ooh la la! those bright emerald green heels were fabulous!
Dancing to “By My Side” by Ben Harper, the couple were the picture of happiness. The wedding was truly a joyous occasion as family and friends gathered to celebrate the union of this loving couple.

5DYHQDQG-HIIOn a beautiful sunny day surrounded by family and friends, Raven’s uncle married the radiant couple. He prepared a wonderful ceremony complete with anecdotes from both families to make this ceremony personalized and memorable for his niece and her new husband.
Raven had wanted to have a wedding of simple elegance that was not overdone. She decided on a classy feel with minimal decorations on the tables. Candle holders with roses and greenery were simple but stunning centerpieces. Her bouquet was pure white roses with a touch of orange and greenery to perfectly complement her gown. Raven’s beautiful hair was swept up in a hair style that was sophisticated and elegant, accented with white flowers.
Guests were treated to an unexpected but welcome intrusion…a flock of ducks made themselves at home during the ceremony and added to the charm of the wedding by the lake.

of Vietnamese/Chinese/American wedding traditions that was steeped in many rituals
important to each of their cultures. In both cultures, there is a traditional tea ceremony
where the ancestors and elders are honored and the couple are surrounded by both of
the extended families and very close friends.
Yvonne had numerous outfit changes during the day of the wedding. The first red
dress, with a red hat, is a traditional Vietnamese dress called an ao dai. The second
red dress worn was during the cake cutting is Chinese. And, of course, the traditional
white wedding gown. Yvonne was beautiful in each of these gowns and dresses and
WI is pleased to feature such a lovely and diverse wedding.
On their first dance, they created a slow/waltz/tango dance routine that kicked off a
reception filled with love and laughter….and fun! Yvonne and her husband left for

Choosing a D.J. can be a complicated decision and one that is important to the bride and groom for the success of their wedding/reception. WI has interviewed two local DJ’s to help make this process easier for you.
A+ Entertainment, having been in the business 8 years, suggests that you interview your DJ to get a feel for their attitude, what they offer, and what is included in the cost. Reputable companies will offer references and have a contract that protects both parties.
Michael Tiegs, of The DJ Company, suggests that when you meet with a potential DJ that you discuss what you expect from your DJ. Will he be the Master of Ceremonies? Will he make all of the announcements? Will he coordinate with other professionals, such as the photographer, wedding coordinator, caterer?
Most DJ’s want the event to run as smoothly as possible and want to add to the happiness of bride and groom‘s reception. A+ Entertainment says they never want to be obnoxious and take attention away from the bride and groom. Because of this, they ask what kind of play list you want, do you have a Do Not Play list and if you want music played continuously (during dinner, etc.).
WI Expert Advice
HIRING A D.J.
#1
#2
#3
Both of these companies are reputable and stress the importance of talking to your DJ and not to feel embarrassed or hesitant to ask questions.
Here are some questions that Wedding Ideas feel are important that you ask so that you are informed and can make an educated decision:
on duty?
the music they will dance to?
to dance?
contract?
party extends past contract time?
(Both A+ and the DJ Company do)
Both companies we interviewed stress that their goal is to make the occasion as stress free and special as possible and will gladly try to accommodate the bride and groom’s wishes.

As the saying goes “you marry the whole family” and we wanted our families to be included in the wedding process. It was very important to us that everyone have a special part in our wedding. Cole’s grandfather married us, my grandfather said a prayer and our fathers each read a scripture during the ceremony. We were fortunate enough to have all the mothers and grandmothers wedding dresses available and displayed them at the reception. They were lovingly and carefully displayed on wire dress forms with pictures of each bride in her wedding dress. We also had pictures of our parents and grandparents cutting their wedding cake on each side of our cake. The event coordinator at Rose Creek was very helpful in helping us fulfill our vision.
I planned every little detail down to who would clean up afterwards. Don’t do it all yourself! There were friends available to help design the programs, to help set up for the wedding and reception and to help at the end of the evening. I suggest you get to know the people you are working with at your venue. They can be very helpful when it comes to turning their venue into your own unique creation, as we did.
One important piece of advice I would pass on is to make sure you interview photographers. This is SO important…
if you don’t feel comfortable with your photographer it will be awkward on your wedding day and it will show in your pictures. If the photographer balks at your suggestions, move on to another photographer to interview until you find one that in on the same page as you are. We chose an awesome photographer named Sherry Lynch. She was friendly, helpful and was truly interested in what we wanted.
WI Wedding TIPS
Amber and Cole

Amber gives valuable advice in helping brides create the perfect wedding day.
Now for a few things I wished we had done.: I wished I had ordered cute polo shirts for the bridesmaids with their initials monogrammed on them. These would have been in my wedding colors and my shirt in white. There are so many pictures while we are all getting ready and I think this would have made great pictures!
I also wish I had choreographed a father/ daughter dance. I have seen this at a wedding where the father and daughter did a “dance through the ages” with clips of various songs and everyone loved it!
Our wedding was the best day of my life! Everything went smoothly, the weather was great and it all turned out beautiful. Our families, friends and people that watched us grow up were there to share this day with us.
