Sam Bacharach

Sam Bacharach was an active OGC Technical Committee member from the start. While at Intergraph, Sam negotiated adoption of the first released OGC standard at Cambridge University in 1997.

Jim Farley

At the Center for Advanced Spatial Technologies (CAST) at the University of Arkansas, Jim Farley integrated GRASS with various software products. He was a key participant in meetings that led to the OGC Technical Committee.

Jim was a founding OGC staff member and later took a position with Oracle.

Charles Roswell

Through decades of standards work in the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) and its predecessor organizations, and at NATO, Charles Roswell anticipated the need for OGC’s interoperability standards. He was a key player in making these standards a reality.

Charles helped forge successful relationships between OGC, ISO TC211 and ANSI/INCITS L1. He received the OGC’s first Lifetime Achievement Award.

Jeff Labonte, head of Geoconnections in Canada, was responsible for much OGC project activity in Canada.

Terry Fisher

An international standards veteran, Terry Fisher led Canada’s GeoConnections to use OGC as a resource to address Canadian Geospatial Data Infrastructure (CGDI) requirements. This led to the CGDI becoming the largest single implementation community for OGC standards.

Velu Sinha

• Before OGF and OGC, Velu worked with David Schell on a document management project whose "virtual bus” distributed architecture provided a model for geospatial interoperability, ultimately realized in OGC. Velu is now a partner at Bain & Company and an OGC Director.

Greg Smith, Irv Buck and the NGA

Greg Smith was on the OGF board before joining the US National Imagery and Mapping Agency (NIMA), where he helped advance OGC.

The NGA (while still NIMA) under Irv Buck worked with the OGC to create the "Geospatial IPT”. While at NGA, Mark Reichardt helped with this.

The IPT effort helped the OGC conceptualize and implement the Interoperability Program, keystone of OGC's success.

James Clapper, Director of NGA 2001-2006 and now Director of National Intelligence, was a strong OGC advocate.
