Welcome to 2nd Term of 2018-2019 Academic Year.

Alhamdulillah, we have come to 2020. Happy New Year from AIUIS management team. May all of you have another year filled with good health, love and laughter. On behalf of the school, and its administration staff, we would like to bid a very warm welcome to the newcomers who are joining us for the first time, especially those in Year 1.

Hence, in this newsletter, we will share with you some highlights of the previous term. As you read on, we hope that your hearts will be filled with pride and joy on these students’ achievements.

Farewell

AIUIS School management regret to inform you that Mr. Michael Yuen left us due to completion of his contract with AIUIS. Great is the art of beginning, but greater is the art of ending. We would like to wish him all the best in his future endeavors.

We are happy to have Ms. Shalini A/P Kathamuthu as our new member of AIUIS. The school management would like to wish her a big welcome.

SCHOOL BOOKS The students’ books will be distributed on the first day of the school.

BREAKFAST AND LUNCH Food and Drinks will be provided during breakfast and lunch time. Please ensure that you have made the meal plan payment.

ENTRANCE / EXIT GATE Main gate will be opened in the morning and at dismissal time. Parents should drop off and pick up their children at the entrance lobby.

SCHOOL HOURS Monday - Thursday : 7:45 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Friday : 7:45 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Students must be in the school by 7.40am for the morning assembly. Attendance is taken at 7.50am each morning during school assembly. Any students who arrive after this time will be considered late.

PREVIOUS ACTIVITIES FLASH BACK

The following activities were held in the first term in Academic Year 2019-2020.

Talk on Parenting - 22nd November 2019 - As a parent, children’s growth is the most concerned subject. However, most parents do not know how to get along with or communicate with their children in today’s society, which leaves a lot of problems in their parent-child relationship. How can parents teach their children with good discipline? In order to let parents understand how to get along with their children to build up a closer parent-child relationship and to make the relationship more harmonious, AIU International School will invite Associate Professor Dr. Fauziah to deliver a talk on Parenting "Bring out the best in your child".

Language Week - 11th-15th November 2019 - Our theme this year was “Exploring the beauty of language”. All the children from Grade 1 to 6 had a fantastic language week. The aim of this event in school was to raise awareness of the benefits of language and highlight the linguistic diversity in our community. Language learning is an essential skill for life in the 21st century. Language learning helps us to broaden personal, social, cultural and employment opportunities. Academic staff organised a wide range of activities for our children throughout the week such as spelling bees, story telling, colouring competition, handwriting competition, quizzes, poem writing competition, etc. The children loved taking part in these activities that no doubt had helped improve their language skills!

Patriotic Day - 16th September 2019 - Patriotic Day was led by our BM teacher, Mr. Zahir. It was held to instill patriotism among students so that they develop love for the country. Many activites were carried out during the week such as drawing contest, colouring contest, quiz and many more.

Learning Journey to Penang Bird Park - 9th December 2019 - Learning journey (Educational trip) are a great way to bring excitement and adventure to learning. It is essential and integral to the educational process as an extension of classroom study which is entertaining. It allows the students to experience and interact with what they are learning, and expose the students in a different social environment whereby they learn how to interact with others outside the classrooms. The visit to the Bird Park was amazing as we achieved the objectives of our trip to make the students aware that birds are living things, that there are a large variety of birds in the world and to observe the habitat and feeding habits. Our students were given a guided tour of the Bird Park. They learnt that the park has many types of birds from all over the world. They watched the birds in their natural habitat. In addition to that they had close interaction with the birds, they observed, fed them and had the birds perched on them.

UJ IA N PENI LA IA N SEKOLAH RENDAH (U PSR) Primary School Achievement Test, also known as Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah, is a national examination taken by all students in Malaysia at the end of their sixth year in primary school. Congratulations to our student, Zakwan Danial who got a 100% pass. You should be proud of yourself because you had done your best!

They Did It!

ICAS Medal Presentation Ceremony 2019Congratulations to Muhammad Rayyan Danish Mikhail, who won a Gold Medal for his ICAS results which is one of the top results in Malaysia. AIU International School is now a ‘Gold Medal Winner School’ which means it is considered as one of the top schools in Malaysia for these assessments. Well done again to all our students who did the ICAS tests and especially Mikhail on getting one of the highest scores in the country!

TIGER WOODS IN THE MAKING!8-10 December 2019 - Congratulations to our student, Muhammad Aqil Irfan bin Ahmad Irwan from Year 4 for winning 5th place in SGRK Grand Finals organized by Sirkit Golf Remaja Kedah which took place at Cinta Sayang Resort, Sungai Petani, Kedah.

Congratulations to Muhammad Arif bin Asyraf, our Primary 2 student for winning a s i lver medal in the Southest Asian Mathematical Olympiad (SEAMO) 2019! Both student and teachers deserve our heartiest congratulations and well done to all!
