From Chairman Danny Hunter
Tonight we welcome our friends from Lincoln City to Meadow Park for this Vanarama National League encounter. May I wish their directors, manager, players and supporters a pleasant stay with us and a safe journey home.
A PROGRESS REPORT
Well, after what I had called a bit of a mini-storm of poor results with a distinct lack of goals since November, the dressing room has partly bounced back in the last few weeks or so, with 6 very valuable points in the last four games, with 5 valuable goals, albeit all in one game, with 4 clean sheets in those last four games and, thankfully that return has moved us back into the top twelve.
Tonight though we face what I’d best describe as the team of the season thus far in the visit of league leaders Lincoln City, a side who have captured the whole nation’s imagination, but who will perhaps be hurting tonight from their FA Trophy defeat to York City on Saturday.
Any semi-final defeat hurts, but for them to be just 90 minutes from a first trip up Wembley Way will undoubtedly be seen as an opportunity missed. That said, I’m sure Lincoln will be thinking it’s how they react to adversity that will define their season. It’s perhaps now a test of their mentality and inner belief that will
shape their ambition.
I do believe though that in Lincoln’s case, they have already demonstrated they have a very strong inner belief and a very good mentality to win football matches. They are very much a club together, they are it seems incredibly focused and they’ll know the most important thing is to simply concentrate on the next game in front of them.
They will already understand that a semi-final defeat hurts but it’s only about the end game and promotion that will matter for them come what may. At present the Lincoln directors, their management, players and supporters are still armed with the memories of what has been a quite sensational League and FA Cup campaign.
Their FA Cup run has I believe, genuinely now re-written the book for modern non-league football clubs in what can actually be achieved in that competition as even clubs as low as
www.bwfctv.co.uk I @BOREHAM_WOODFC I www.borehamwoodfootballclub.co.UK I 5
those in League Two now it seems want to play weakened teams for what we still see as a major competition.
Just a few short weeks ago, I watched big clubs like Brighton and Hove Albion, Ipswich Town and Burnley tweak their teams and were put to the sword by this wonderful Lincoln City side and management team. Not for one minute of the games I watched were Lincoln playing the underdog role of nicking a goal and hanging on for grim death. No, this was different, they were not lucky, they were talented, organised, controlled and in truth more than deserved each and every cup upset they achieved.
But on that footnote, I’m sure that the whole of Lincoln would now swap, for instance, their 2-0 Trophy win here three weeks ago, for a 2-0 league win here tonight? It’s about the end game and as I said above, for Lincoln City a day out at Wembley will not define their season as it’s only ever going to be about them rejoining the pro ranks once again.
It would though perhaps be apt for them to regain their Football League status in this, the year where as a club they lost their old gaffer in Graham Taylor. It was perhaps Mr Taylor who gave the Imps, until Danny and Nick Cowley came along, some of their best memories historically and is a person who is remembered so fondly.
So after tonight, I genuinely hope that Danny, Nick and of course Graham Taylor’s memory, do go on to win the National League. They have lit up this season thus far and have brought hope to every young management team in the country that they can go
from being PE teachers, or whatever jobs they are in, to creating careers in football management that can possibly take you to the very top levels of English football.
As such, the Cowleys have brought such positive publicity to every club at our level, but it is perhaps a lesser known fact that the two Cowley brothers Danny and Nick for a brief time, actually played their football here with us at Meadow Park, under previous manager Ian Allinson.
They were in truth two very hard working guys, who have before and since earned every reward they have ever received as players and they are now deservedly, through their astonishing track record in management, earning every accolade that comes their way in the management department. This season has seen sustained success and improvement coming quickly in their Lincoln tenure. That instant success has probably even taken the lads and the club by surprise but from the outside looking in, I would say It is just reward for simply being the best managerial partnership in the non-league game at present.
Again though it does prove that over a period of time, hard work and care is often rewarded, and if hard work is the order of the day then let’s hope this is their season. If it is, then they’ll be handing Lincoln, Danny, Nick and their hard working dressing room the league title at the end of April. If they are I think everyone would accept that the best side this season won the league.
However I must also add a note of caution to the written superlatives above
6 I www.borehamwoodfootballclub.co.UK I @BOREHAM_WOODFC I www.bwfctv.co.uk
as we all know that football is reliably unreliable and has never quite been a science so it’s littered with nearly men stories, where a club doesn’t always get what it deserves.
No, sporting success or failure often mirrors everyday life. If it’s about getting your just rewards for being the hardest workers, trust me then BWFC would already be in the play offs this evening. No, to win a league or promotion at whatever level, it’s also about decision making, it’s about attitude, discipline and desire. When you combine that with great staff, great management, more hard work and of course a half decent budget then, of course, talent finally gets a chance to raise its head.
Anyway after this evening, I hope that Lincoln, Danny, Nick and their supporters get their just reward and the promotion they crave.
OTHER CLUB NEWS
We are absolutely delighted to announce that our club captain Joe Devera has signed a 12 month extension to his contract and will play his football with us until the end of the 2017/18 season.
We will hopefully be making what I consider to be a very big announcement at 4pm tomorrow, in regards to a transfer agreement that’s already been reached, but it is another milestone transfer that I feel best showcases our management, our staff, our infrastructure and our progress both on and off the field.
Finally I will in the next few weeks or so, need to do an interview with media
man Grant Morris on BWTV to fully explain to you, our supporters, about my excitement and my plans for our new training facility build that begins on May 15th. Plus my decision to finally withdraw our two pitch astro planning application, to further another stadium facility build with the new main stadium pitch build that begins on April 24th.
On top of that there’s the new Arsenal contract that is nearing completion. There’s also a new sports/education contract that’s just being signed until 2020 and then there’s a major main sponsorship renewal to announce, which again runs until 2020. Finally there is more than the real possibility of us building a brand new state of the art East Stand.
Anyway, back to tonight, can I welcome back one of Wood’s prodigal sons in striker Lee Angol to Meadow Park. For me, Lee was the major factor on the pitch, why we are now in the National League and why we are playing the likes of Lincoln City, Tranmere Rovers and the Wrexham’s. Lee was simply magnificent for us throughout that promotion season when we resided in the Conference South. His goals, his presence and his partnership with strike partner, Junior Morias, scared teams to death. On a personal basis, I’m also so pleased that we have as a club helped both those young players get themselves moves back into the pro game.
Anyway enough of my drivel, whoever you support lets hope for an open attacking game and may the best team win.
It’s over to you.

THE MANAG ER
Good Evening, Firstly I would like to welcome Danny Cowley and his Lincoln City players and staff to Meadow Park for tonight’s midweek National League fixture. Tonight marks a welcomed return to the National League for our visitors, after two FA Trophy fixtures and the memorable FA Cup Quarter Final encounter against Arsenal at the Emirates, which has seen their focus narrow solely to the National League title race. Unfortunately after their fairytale FA Cup run ended at the Emirates, more realistic dreams of walking down Wembley Way were squashed after York City took an aggregate lead in their FA Trophy Semi Final tie following a dubious extra time penalty decision and held on to upset the Imps at Sincil Bank. As I mentioned, tonight however Lincoln’s focus returns to league matters and they will want to widen the advantage they hold at the top of the table and continue their push towards the Football League. Whereas for us our ambitions are slightly more modest, it’s about upsetting the apple cart, and to continue with our recent good home form to remain on track for a top 12 finish. Its no secret what Lincoln possess in their dressing room and the manner in which they go about their business. We’ve witnessed first hand on two occasions this season, in addition to the other opportunities we’ve had to watch them
when upsetting the likes of Oldham Athletic, Ipswich Town, Brighton & Hove Albion and Burnley on our TV screens. We will need to ensure we are prepared and organised to deal with any threat. However on our day, I believe we can match anyone in this division. We come into the game unbeaten at home in our last five league matches; including having kept four consecutive clean sheets, which has been extremely positive. Additionally, the return of Morgan Ferrier to tonight’s squad will give us an added boost to our offensive options. Dependent on selection, hopefully Morgan can add the much-needed firepower in order to secure a positive result this evening. Talking of personnel, we have now secured eight of the current squad on contracts for next season, with Joe Devera being the latest to commit for the 2017/18 campaign. Considering we currently have the fourth best defensive record in the division with 17 clean sheets to our name this campaign, to have secured the services of many of our defensive players bodes well for us and gives us a solid foundation to build our squad for next season. It’s then for myself and my management team to identify and recruit with a real understanding of what’s required to compliment the strong base of players we have retained, to add even more quality to the ranks.

THE MANAG ER
Before I sign off, I would just like to take this opportunity to welcome back Lee Angol to Meadow Park. Lee was instrumental in our success when we won promotion to the National League with 25 league goals to his name that season. He was the League’s top marksman and duly was recognised as Non-League Football’s Young Player of the Season before clinching his return to the Football League with Peterborough United. He has already hit the ground running at Lincoln with four goals in three games, including a hat trick on his debut against Danny’s former side Braintree. If Lee can continue that rich vein of form, I’m sure results and perhaps the league title will follow for Lincoln City. Anyway, back to tonight’s game, let’s hope for a positive performance and result. Hope you enjoy the game!

Boreham Wood Football Club are pleased to
announce that our latest Adult season ticket
initiative is launched today for season 2017/18.
This offer will stay active until the end of April and will save an-
yone who participates, £99 on the forthcoming £199 early bird
season ticket offer, that will come into effect on May 1st, 2017.
This is a club initiative, where we will offer our supporters an
Adult or Senior Citizen season ticket for next season for just
£100. However for you to get that discounted rate, you must
introduce another Adult or Senior Citizen, who must also pur-
chase a £100 Adult or Senior Citizen season ticket, for you
both to be eligible.
Chairman Danny Hunter said “It’s an offer I hope that people
feel is not to be missed and will improve our support base. We
obviously need to get more local people, more families, and
more of our community watching their football at Meadow
Park next season.
“Any increased support would be welcomed, even if it’s only
slightly as it’s really the only way for us to progress. If we can
somehow encourage more people to come and support their
local club then everyone’s a winner and this might be the start
of something bigger for the club.
“So if people are out there and doing their maths then they
simply need to base our offer on this season’s match-day
adult price of £18 per game as the £100 season ticket will work
out less than if an adult attended just six league games next
season. It means if they introduce another £100 paying adult,
then they both get the equivalent of 17 league games next
season completely free……….I hope that makes sense?”
The Wood Chairman finished by saying “We all know we can-
not sustain National League football or keep good players
here, if they are going to play their football in an empty sta-
dium so I desperately need to come up with an incentive, an
offer, a hook to attract good players and drag in more home
support.
“Our fans are different class and very, very, loyal people but
there’s just not enough of them. That said, if we can try and
get the surrounding areas of Shenley, Radlett, Elstree, Bushey and Barnet to take a punt on us then for the sake of a hundred quid, it could create a change in mindset and I’ll try anything
that might improve our home support.
“I know we need a better atmosphere and a bit of noise at
Meadow Park on a match day. If we can find it, it could be worth an extra 10 points next season and trust me we could
certainly do with that. So this offer is meant to grab people’s
attention and hopefully encourage more local people to get
involved.
“It might also appeal to the disenchanted pro club supporters
or local families who simply cannot afford the Watford’s, West
Ham’s, the Barnet’s, the Arsenal’s or Spurs, match-day or sea-
son ticket prices.
“If people know I’m trying to provide affordable football for
all the family, if they can see that National League games are
a decent day out, that it’s easy to park, that the football is
decent and you even get to have a drink and meet the play-
ers after the game if you choose, then it also might appeal
more. If they also realise that if they get down to Meadow Park
more than five times next season then they would be saving themselves a small fortune over the season by getting 17 free
league games into the bargain. We are also as I promised
our supporters we would, going to freeze our prices for our
under 16’s and our under 12’s at last seasons discounted rates
of just £50 and £30, so the whole family can benefit from these offers”.. he concluded.

SATURDAY 18 MARCH 2017 – VANARAMA NATIONAL LEAGUE
BOREHAM WOOD 0 – 0 GUISELEY AFC
A controversial decision may have cost the Wood all three points in this National League fixture as they were held 0-0 at home by Guiseley on Saturday afternoon. After winning 5-0 in mid-week against Dover Luke Garrard stuck with the same starting XI with Bruno Andrade and Ricky Shakes up top hoping they would do the same again.
A scrappy start to the game saw a corner in the 6th minute to the Wood, the ball was met by Shakes whose shot was blocked on the line but rebounded back to him only for his second effort to rebound off two or three players before being grabbed by visiting keeper Maxted. The home players began to celebrate as they thought the ball had gone over the line, however referee Mr Treleaven saw it differently and denied Wood the goal.
Ben Nunn made his way forward on the right hand side and delivered a brilliant cross over everybody except Femi Ilesanmi who met the ball at the back post but he was unable to get his shot on target – a wasted chance from the Wood.
Another cross from the right hand side was knocked down to Andrade who hit it on the
half volley forcing a superb save from Maxted down to his left. It wasn’t just Maxted stopping the Wood’s efforts though, it was the whole Guiseley defence too as Kenny Davis and Jai Reason both had shots blocked by Palmer and Brown.
The last 10 minutes of the half saw Guiseley come alive through their first real chance in the game as Preston ran past two or three men before getting in his shot from just outside the box. It was straight down the throat of home keeper Grant Smith causing the Wood no problems although Preston did feel like he was fouled in the process but the referee waved his appeal away.
The half ended after a few Guiseley corners but nothing was to come from them and Boreham Wood will definitely have felt hard done by at half time after a few controversial decisions, the main one denying the hosts the early goal that could have clinched the win.
Guiseley started the second half a lot brighter than the first as Preston beat three men before firing a low cross into the box, however Smith was equal to it and pounced on the ball stopping any danger.

The Wood went straight back at Guiseley as Davis won the ball and played it to Shakes whose run allowed him to get the ball to Andrade on the left hand side but his cross was deflected wide for a corner.
A free kick to the Wood 10 yards out ended up at the feet of Davis on the edge of the box but his shot took a deflection and went wide for a Wood corner which Maxted came out to punch clear.
There was a chance for Wood substitute Jason Williams with 15 minutes left as he cut inside before firing just over the bar with a powerful shot. Wood had several corners in the 7 minutes of injury time but could not find a winner and the game finished even.
Wood certainly had the chances to win the game but they failed to make them count and that, along with a decision that could have gone either way but ended up against the Wood, frustrated the home side and the fans as the hosts probably deserved more than just a point.

MATCH PREVIEWBOREHAM WOOD V LINCOLN CITY
Lincoln’s last visit to Meadow Park was
just a few weeks ago in the FA Trophy
where they knocked the Wood out
of the competition with a 2-0 victory
although Lincoln return here tonight
having lost at the semi final stage to York City after extra time on Saturday.
Luke Garrard’s side go into the game
in good form having not lost in their last
four games whilst also not conceding in
that time also.
A win would also take the Wood back
up into the top 10.
Lincoln who are chasing promotion are
in their sixth season at this level, their
longest ever spell outside the top four
divisions, in which time they have never
managed to finish higher than 14th. This just shows the remarkable job the
Cowley’s are doing at Lincoln.
We could also see the return of Lee
Angol who has joined Lincoln City on
loan from Peterborough United, with
the former Wood striker scoring a hat-
trick for the Imps on his National League
debut.
Wood welcome top of the table Lincoln City to Meadow Park
on Tuesday evening for the second time this season.

IT`S SILKMEN V MINSTERMEN
AT WEMBLEYLincoln City can concentrate on winning the Vanarama National League after the Imps crashed out of a second successive cup competition by losing in the Buildbase FA Trophy Semi-Final 3-2 on aggregate to York City on Saturday.
York, Trophy winners in 2012 and runners-up in 2009, are returning to Wembley for a third time after a 1-1 draw at Sincil Bank in the second-leg.
The Minstermen’s narrow first leg advantage was cancelled out by Sean Raggett’s header midway through the second half after Nathan Arnold’s corner was knocked back by Luke Waterfall.
However, with no further goals the contest moved into extra-time, during which the visitors grabbed the all-important equaliser on 103 minutes when Hamza Bencherif’s shot was adjudged to have been handled by Terry Hawkridge.
And sub Scott Fenwick stepped up to convert the penalty and earn another trip to Wembley where they will take on Macclesfield Town as the two underdogs achieved notable wins against high-flying opponents.
The Silkmen, who haven`t appeared at the home of football for a
Trophy final since 1989 when they lost 1-0 to Telford United, edged out Tranmere Rovers 2-1 on aggregate following their single goal triumph at Prenton Park.
The sides shared a 1-1 draw at the Moss Rose last weekend and the signs were that Tranmere, like Lincoln, battling for a return to the Football League, would make it through to their first ever Trophy final.
But the hosts struggled to get their game together as Macc goalkeeper Scott Flinders rarely had a save to make, despite Micky Mellon`s side having the lions` share of possession.
Few chances were created in the first half, with neither ‘keeper stretched.
Macclesfield were the much better team after the break as they piled the pressure on the Tranmere goal.
The Silkmen then had their best chance though as a quick counter attack saw the ball find its way to Ollie Norburn in the penalty area, and he rattled the bar with Scott Davies beaten.
The midfielder was presented with another opportunity after 68 minutes though, and this time he made no mistake as he beat Steve McNulty to bring down a long ball and immediately smashed a shot across goal and in at the far post.
And Macclesfield`s solid defence expertly kept the Rovers` attack at bay for the remainder of the match to be able to celebrate a fine win at the end of the game.

up through their

before breaking
into their first team in 2006/07 season. He
soon established himself
at right back and went on
to make 177 appearanc-

for the Bees.
In 2011 Devera be-
came Paolo Di Canio’s
first signing as Swin-
don Town Manager.
He was a part of the
Swindon Town side that won promotion to
league one. The fol-
lowing season the Rob-
ins made the league one
play-offs only to lose out
to Brentford on penalties.
This was however Devera’s
last game for Swindon after making 66 appearances.
After his release from the
Robins he signed a two
year deal with Portsmouth,
where he was used as both
a centre back and right
back. After 72 appearances
his contract was not renewed
and he left Fratton Park in the
summer of 2015. Joe joined us
here at Meadow Park soon af-
ter and was part of a defensive
back line, that ensured we kept
our National League status last
season.
This season Joe has been an in-
strumental part of what is pres-
ently, the third best defensive
unit in the division, just behind
two of the bigger sides who are
chasing promotion.
On getting Joe signed for a fur-
ther 12 months Wood Gaffer
Luke Garrard said “It’s important
to get your big players sorted
early, and Joe is of course also
my club captain. He’s someone
I know I can rely on, he’s expe-
rienced, has a big voice within

I’ve now added another mem-

to our squad for next season.
I’m now more than comfortable,
that I’ll get another one or two of
the lads sorted out in the coming
weeks, as we look to establish
ourselves in this division again
next season”

Boreham Wood Football Club are
delighted to announce that they’ll
be running an under 16s team for
the 2017/18 season.
After the success of the clubs U/16s academy side last season, in which they achieved both the league and cup double. This was elevat-ed even further when a mem-ber of that squad, became a full England College International this year, with another squad member signing first team forms this season and being a part of the first team match day squad four times.
All of that squad have had the opportunity to also train with the first team and have tasted reserve team football this year. This speaks volumes for their progression from
the U/16’s, into our PASE Scheme and onwards, towards our first team and even beyond.
So if you are a talented U/15 at present, if you can see yourself as the clubs next Academy player to progress from our U/16’s to our first team squad or beyond. Then our acclaimed Academy will be run-ning its first trial on Tuesday, 11th April, 10am registration at Bore-ham Wood Football Club.

TUESDAY 14 MARCH 2017 – THE VANARAMA NATIONAL LEAGUE
BOREHAM WOOD 5 - 0 DOVER ATHLETICAndrade 56’ 73’ Shakes 67’ 83’ 86’
Luke Garrard’s men got back to winning ways in style under the lights at Meadow Park on Tuesday evening against Dover Athletic, lifting themselves back into 12th spot in the league – a fantastic achievement when you see where the likes of ex-Football League clubs York City, Southport and Torquay United are currently.
Garrard once again had to tinker with his personnel in a bid to find the formula to score goals whilst, as ever, the defensive unit was as solid as a rock with a third consecutive clean sheet.
Wood actually started without any recognised strikers on the pitch opting to use both Ricky Shakes and Bruno Andrade as the front pairing and credit must go to the Gaffer as between them they got all five goals.
From the off Wood actually looked a threat going forward, something in recent weeks we haven’t seen.
Ben Nunn wide out on the right found himself space to whip in a cross which Andrade managed to control with his back to goal and he gave the ball to Kenny Davis who was surrounded by Dover players. He played the ball out to Jai Reason who from the edge of the box curled his effort wide.
Shakes and Dover’s Richard Orlu were then involved in a nasty clash of heads although thankfully both players picked themselves up and were able to carry on.
It then looked as though we had the opening goal of the game.
From a Dover throw in out on the right a ball came into the box which was flicked on by Ross Lafayette to Joe Healy whose first time shot with his left foot cannoned back off the upright. The ball then fell to Moses Emmanuel who from 6 yards out put his effort wide.
From a Wood corner that was only half cleared Danny Woodards was positioned on the edge of the box to volley well and force Steve Arnold into a smart save, which was then cleared by the Dover defence.
Reason and Davis, who were midfield partners for the first time this season, combined well with Reason putting a ball over the top of the Dover defence. Andrade with his pace got beyond his man and from an acute angle forced Arnold into another smart save.
After hesitation in the Dover back line Davis was able to get free and with Arnold to beat the ex-Stevenage stopper spread himself to again save well.
At the start of the second half Wood came out with intent and did not take long to open the scoring. Shakes won a ball that was played forward, Jamie Grimes tried to back head the ball to his keeper but didn’t get enough on the ball allowing Andrade to nip in and tuck the ball into an empty net.
Shakes then doubled the home side’s lead and again it was handed to Wood on a plate as the Dover defence gifted them another goal. A loose ball was

At this point Wood seemed to relax and we once again saw the free flowing fast attacking football that was witnessed earlier in the season.
Mitch Pinnock then lost out to Reason in the middle of the pitch and he split the Dover defence in two with a sublime pass and Shakes beat Arnold to the ball laying it into the path of Andrade to tuck in for his second of the evening.
Wood added a fourth soon after in a counter attack following a Dover free kick which Dave Stephens won in the air. Reason again played a pin point ball through the Dover back line for Shakes who beat the offside trap to bear down on goal and tuck the ball neatly under Arnold.
Moments later Shakes got his hat-trick following a long ball forward from Joe Devera who was clearing his lines. Bondz N’Gala miscontrolled the ball and both Andrade and Shakes pounced with Shakes again beating Arnold to seal a fantastic evening for the Wood.

Kenilworth Primary School 3-1 on the day, in
a evenly contested game between two good
sides. As such it will be HJP who will now rep-
resent the club in the regional tournament
and can now continue the dream of playing
on the hallowed Wembley turf.
Boreham Woods newly appointed Communi-

game “To give local borehamwood children

work with all our local schools and our com-

Wood Chairman Danny Hunter said “I think our prices
across the board for next season, especially for Na-
tional League football are exceptional value for the
whole family. If you do the math’s it’s a great deal for
a whole afternoon of family entertainment.
“We’ve priced it so a family of four or even let’s say
a couple of mates, are going to be able bring down
their two kids to Meadow Park, for what could be
their first full season of watching senior football. By
two local people deciding to buy themselves a £100
adult season ticket and then deciding to purchase
another two under 12 season tickets for £30, it’s at an
overall cost of just £260.
“That type of outlay I know isn’t an insignificant amount but the benefits over the season are clear. This price will allow local families if they choose, to
have a decent family day out, make friends and
meet new people They’re also supporting their lo-
cal club, saving hundreds of pounds on our normal
match day entrance prices that won’t come down,
and creating memories together as a family.
“Put even simpler, if our offer is taken up by say a
family of four, it will work out at just £11.30 a match.
So for a whole family to get out the house and get
that type value for a Saturday afternoons entertain-
ment over 23 home league games, is I think simply
outstanding”.

LINCOLN CITYMillennium Memories
1999-2000: A year after putting the Club up for sale, Chairman John Reames reveals that a “substantial” investment is needed or the club may be forced to call in the administrators. The Club and Lincoln City Council finalise a £175,000 deal which sees the freehold interest in the Sincil Bank ground go back to the Football Club in a move that will enable the Imps to avoid going into administration. On the field and a season of mediocrity sees Reames hand over the managerial reins to Phil Stant.
2000-01: Rob Bradley, Chairman of the Lincoln City Membership Scheme (formerly IMPetus) is elected to the Club’s Board of Directors as the supporters’ representative. With the club once again struggling at the wrong end of the table, attentions turn to off-field matters as, in November 2000, John Reames, Chairman for 15 years, resigns leaving his entire shareholding of 815,821 50p shares in trust for the benefit of future investors and the Football Club. Supporter/Director Rob Bradley is named as Acting Chairman. On the field and long-serving defender Grant Brown becomes the club’s all-time record appearance holder by making his 425th career appearance. “Lincoln City Football Club is now a community club, owned and run by its supporters. This is an historic day for the club and a significant day for football in general” - that was the message on February 23rd from new club chairman Rob Bradley as he announced that the Lincoln City Membership Scheme’s Community Ownership Package for the shareholding of the Club was successful. Four days later and with the team languishing at the wrong end of the table, the new Board of Directors terminate the contracts of manager Phil Stant and his assistant George Foster. Former Grimsby Town boss Alan Buckley is appointed as the new manager. An upturn in fortunes sees the club finish in 18th position.
2001-02: Former manager Keith Alexander returns to Sincil Bank as assistant to Alan Buckley. Grant Brown breaks Tony Emery’s long-standing Football League appearance record by playing his 403rd League game for the club. The Board of Directors announce that the collapse of ITV Digital - a new television sport channel launched amid a blaze of publicity at the beginning of the season and the subsequent loss of approximately £150,000 worth of TV revenue means that the existence of Lincoln City Football Club is very much in jeopardy. This is brought to the fore in April 2002 when the Board of Directors announce that, following advice from outside accountants and solicitors, they will be submitting a petition to the High Court for the Club to go into administration. Chairman Rob Bradley spells out the gravity of the situation by saying that the final home League game of the season against Rochdale “could be the last game in the club’s history.” Supporters dig deep and raise over £12,000 on the day of the Rochdale match as a “Save The Imps” campaign gets underway.
2002: A “Name Your Seat” initiative is launched, along with a host of other fundraising events, aimed at raising significant funds ahead of a High Court appearance. A week before this court appearance, the club parts company with manager Alan Buckley. On the same day that the club’s petition to go into administration is successful, Keith Alexander is appointed manager. The club’s creditors and shareholders accept a Company Voluntary Arrangement which guarantees that the club’s future will be secure for the next two years. Five days before the new season gets underway, the Board of Directors announce that the Club is officially out of administration. Chairman Rob Bradley pays tribute to an “absolutely fantastic public response”.
2002-03: With a host of new signings - the majority joining the club from non-League football - City start the season as favourites for relegation but a series of battling performances see them go into the New Year in a comfortable mid-table position. But just six defeats in the latter half of the season sees the club confound their critics and a final day draw at home to Torquay United, the equaliser coming just four minutes from time from one of the summer signings from non-League - Simon Yeo - earns the Imps a place in the Division Three Play-Offs for the first time in their history. A 6-3 aggregate success over near neighbours Scunthorpe United in the semi-finals books a place at the Millennium Stadium for the Final against AFC Bournemouth. A 5-2 reverse in the final though brings an end to the promotion dream.
2003-04: After a slow start to the season, results start to pick up when, with City lying seventh in the table, manager Keith Alexander underwent complex brain surgery at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital to repair a ruptured cerebral
aneurism which had been the cause of a collapse at his home. Three months after surgery, he was back in the managerial hot seat alongside assistant Gary Simpson who had taken over his duties in his absence, and his first game back in the dug-out was the Imps’ local derby against Boston United on February 7th, with the Imps still seventh in the table. City spent the remainder of the season either in or on the fringes of the play-off places and with the average home League attendance of 4,911 being a 66% increase on the 2001/02 figure, the Imps once again found themselves in the end-of-season play-offs, despite picking up just one win from their last five matches. A second successive trip to the Millennium Stadium is thwarted though as City lose out to Huddersfield Town in the semi-finals 4-3 on aggregate.
2004-05: Once again, City started the season slowly, although striker Gary Taylor-Fletcher equalled a 106-year record by scoring in the first six matches, but a good run of form prior to Christmas saw the Imps move up into the top five places with manager Keith Alexander winning the League’s “Manager of the Month” award for November. City maintained their place at the top end of the table and a sixth-placed finish saw them reach the play-offs for the third successive season. A 2-1 semi-final aggregate victory over Macclesfield Town saw them return to the Millennium Stadium but promotion once again proved to be elusive as Southend United came away 2-0 winners after extra-time. Promotion would have been the perfect send-off to Supporter Director Rob Bradley who, after four years in the Chairman’s seat, decided to step down at the end of the season. Gareth McAuley, a pre-season signing from Coleraine, becomes the first Lincoln player to represent one of the home countries at full international level for almost 22 years when he appears as a second half substitute for Northern Ireland in a friendly against Germany at Windsor Park.
2005-06: A fifth successive soiree to the end-of-season play-offs in what turned out to be Keith Alexander’s final season as manager, although the campaign wasn’t without incident with Alexander and his assistant Gary Simpson both being placed on ‘gardening leave’ in the January. Although Alexander was soon after reinstated, Simpson departed as did two members of the Board. Having defeated Grimsby Town 5-0 in the regular season, City lost out to the Mariners in the play-off semi-finals to become the first team ever to lose four consecutive play-off competitions.
2006-07: John Schofield, former team captain and youth team manager, was appointed as Alexander’s successor and along with Director of Football John Deehan led the Club to its highest finish of the decade with a fifth-placed spot securing yet another place in the play-offs. The first half of the season was notable due to some tremendous football with striker Jamie Forrester scoring three hat-tricks in the first half of the season, including two in successive games at at Barnet (5-0) and at home to Rochdale (7-1). Having topped the table just before Christmas, a poor second half to the season culminated in a 4-7 two-legged play-off defeat to Bristol Rovers.
2007-08: A poor start to the season saw Schofield and Deehan depart with former Huddersfield Town manager Peter Jackson being handed the managerial reins. He steers the Club to a respectable 15th-placed finish, with five wins from five in February earning Jackson the Manager of the Month award.
2008-09: Another mid-table finish from Jackson’s first full season in charge, although he was forced to miss the last two months of the season for throat cancer treatment. His assistant Iffy Onoura took over managerial duties in his absence with a poor home record (just six wins coming from the 23 games) seeing the Club miss out on a top seven slot.
2009-10: Jackson is dismissed just five games into the season and after first team coach Simon Clark took charge for three matches, the Board of Directors turned to former England international Chris Sutton for his first foray into club management. With 40 players used during the course of the season City finish in 20th position, the lowest since 2002. This paled into insignificance, however, when former manager Keith Alexander passed away at the age of 53 in March.
2010-11: The Club are forced to changes at managerial level once again following Chris Sutton’s resignation in October following a poor start. Former Southend United boss Steve Tilson was the man entrusted with the job as his replacement but he was unable to stop the Club from being relegated out of the Football League for the first time since 1987.

PAUL FARMAN Goalkeeper Paul started his career as a youngster with Newcastle United and joined Blyth Spartans following spells at Monkseaton Academy and Washington before signing for Gateshead in the summer of 2009. Paul played eight times
for the Imps in the 2011/12 season whilst on loan from Gateshead, keeping two clean sheets in the process, but a groin strain forced his return to his native north east. Involved with the England C squad prior to his loan move to Sincil Bank, Paul made a further nine appearances for Gateshead following his return and following his release, returned to the Imps on a permanent deal in May 2012. An impressive first full season with the Club was rewarded with a new two-year contract and this was extended further towards the end of the 2014/15 season; a campaign which saw the popular stopper win the supporters’ “Player of the Season” award.
BRADLEY WOOD Full-back Bradley Wood signed for the Club from Alfreton Town in June 2015 for an undisclosed fee. Leicester-born Bradley progressed through the youth ranks at Grimsby Town and having made his first team debut in September 2009 went on
to appear over 100 times for the Mariners before departing for Alfreton at the end of the 2012/13 season. Named as the Reds’ “Player of the Season” during his first campaign at the Impact Arena, Bradley - who is primarily a right-back but can also operate on the left - also won a cap for England C before signing a two-year extension in the summer of 2014. He capped a fine first season with the Imps, picking up numerous end-of-season awards following a string of whole-hearted performances both in defence and midfield.
SAM HABERGHAM Doncaster-born Sam started out as a youngster with Norwich City before serving his scholarship at Carrow Road. He was rewarded with his first professional contract with the Canaries at the end of June 2009. Released at the end of the
2010/11 season, he played once at Sincil Bank for the Imps’ reserves in April 2011 but ended up joining Tamworth three months later. After a year with Tamworth he moved to Braintree Town and became a integral part of the Iron squad over the course of the next four seasons, receiving recognition at England C level in the process. He became our third summer signing, following the acquisitions of former Braintree colleagues Alex Woodyard and Taylor Miles. ELLIOTT WHITEHOUSE England C international midfielder Elliott Whitehouse joined the Imps on a permanent deal from Nuneaton Town in October 2016 on a deal that will run until the end of the 2017/18 season. A product of Sheffield United’s academy, Elliott had been with Nuneaton since September 2015 following a brief stint at FC Halifax Town. Worksop-born Elliott was captain of the Sheffield United youth team that lost to Manchester United in the 2010/11 FA Youth Cup Final and made his first team debut for the Blades on New Year’s Day 2013 in a 2–2 draw at Doncaster Rovers. Having gained experience during loan spells with York City and
Alfreton Town, Elliott linked up with Notts County following his release by Sheffield United in the summer of 2014 but with first team opportunities limited at Meadow Lane he had a brief loan stint at Nuneaton before signing for Halifax at the end of the 2014/15 season.
LUKE WATERFALL Centre-back Luke Waterfall joined the Club in June 2015 from Wrexham on a two-year contract. Highly-rated Luke started out a youngster with Barnsley and made his first class debut as a teenager for Tranmere Rovers before being released in the
summer of 2009. He spent the next four seasons plying his trade in the National League North for Ilkeston Town and then Gainsborough Trinity before returning to the Football League with Scunthorpe United. With first team opportunities at League One level limited at Glanford Park, Luke spent the 2014/15 season on loan at both Macclesfield Town and Mansfield Town before signing a permanent deal with Wrexham in January.
CALLUM HOWE Central defender Callum Howe signed for the Imps in the summer of 2015 following a successful period on trial early in pre-season. Doncaster-born Callum impressed during a pre-season friendly at Grantham Town and was rewarded with an
initial one-year deal which duly extended into a second. Released by Scunthorpe United at the end of the 2014/15 season, Howe had spells on loan at Gateshead and Alfreton Town and has also gained first-team experience whilst on loan at both Bradford Park Avenue and Gainsborough Trinity. Callum spent the first three months of the season on loan at Southport.
JACK MULDOON Forward Jack Muldoon signed for City in the summer of 2015 following his release by League One Rochdale. Jack was a youth team player at home town club Scunthorpe United before impressing in the lower leagues for the likes of
Brigg Town, Sheffield FC, Glapwell, Alfreton Town, Stocksbridge Park Steels, North Ferriby United and Worksop Town. A superb 2013/14 season, which saw him score 21 league goals for Worksop, attracted interest from Football League clubs and he subsequently made the move to Rochdale on a one-year deal. He made his Dale debut against Walsall in the Football League Trophy whilst his Football League bow came in November at Port Vale but having struggled to break into the first team at Spotland, was loaned out to FC Halifax Town during the second half of 2014/15, scoring twice in eight starts for the Shaymen.
ALAN POWER Former Republic of Ireland youth international Alan joined the Imps in July 2011 and quickly established himself as a first team regular and a firm favourite amongst the City supporters. The Dubliner started his career as a youngster
with Nottingham Forest, with his only first team appearance coming against Peterborough United in a Johnstone’s Paint Trophy tie in September 2007. The midfielder was called into

the Republic of Ireland’s U21 squad a month later before gaining experience on loan at Grays Athletic and following his release by Forest, he signed for League One outfit Hartlepool United in the summer of 2008. Following the expiry of his two-year Pools’ contract, Alan joined Rushden & Diamonds and was a regular in the Blue Square Bet Premier in the 2010/11 season, playing 41 times and scoring three goals. The players’ player of the season at Nene Park, he was released by the club as they headed towards dissolution. Named as the Imps’ Captain midway through the 2012/13 season, he capped a fine campaign by being named as the supporters’ Player of the Season. MATT RHEAD
Striker Matt Rhead turned down the offer of a new deal at Mansfield Town to sign for the Imps on a two-year contract in the summer of 2015. Part of the Stags’ squad that won the Conference championship in 2013, the 6’4” front man had been
at Field Mill since January 2012 having previously been a regular on the scoresheet for Corby Town and Eastwood Town. Stoke-born Matt has also played for Kidsgrove Athletic, Nantwich Town and Congleton Town. He joined Corby from Eastwood in June 2011.
ADAM MARRIOTT Adam started his career as a youngster with Norwich City before making his mark at first team level with Cambridge United, going on to appear over 50 times for the Abbey Stadium outfit. Having spent time on loan at Bishop’s Stortford,
scoring twice in six appearances, he moved to Cambridge City on his release by United prior to the 2013/14 season and was a very prolific scorer at this level, scoring 45 goals in 42 games. This form caught the attention of a number of League clubs with Stevenage securing his services for an undisclosed five-figure sum in the summer of 2014. His time with Stevenage was dogged with injuries, however, and he was restricted to just 22 first team appearances during his two years at the club. Released at the end of the 2015/16 season, Adam will be hoping his injury problems are behind him as he looks to rebuild his career at Sincil Bank.
TERRY HAWKRIDGEWinger Terry Hawkridge joined the Club on loan from Scunthorpe United on 1 September 2015 in a deal which was made permanent in the New Year. Terry had been with Scunthorpe since the summer of 2013 when he joined from Gainsborough Trinity for
an undisclosed fee. With Barnsley and Tranmere Rovers as a youth team player, Terry had spent just a solitary season at Trinity having made his mark at Hucknall Town and Carlton Town, appearing regularly for the latter between 2010 and 2012. A virtual ever-present in 2013/14 as Scunthorpe finished runners-up in League Two, Terry found first team opportunities limited at Glanford Park during the second half of the following season and as such finished the campaign on loan at Mansfield Town.
SEAN LONG Republic of Ireland U21 international defender Sean Long joined the Imps in January on loan from Reading until the end of the season. A versatile
full-back, Dublin-born Sean joined Reading from Irish side Cherry Orchard in 2012 and made his professional debut on at the beginning of the 2014/15 season in a League Cup win over Scunthorpe United. Having gained experience during a loan spell with Luton Town, Sean finished last season on loan at Braintree Town and was part of Danny Cowley’s squad that secured a place in the National League Play-Offs. The 21-year-old, who has represented his country at U16, U17, U18 and U19 level, was called up to the U21’s for the first time in May 2015 along with Reading team mates Pierce Sweeney and Shane Griffin. Sean spent the first half of the current campaign in League Two with Cambridge United.
TAYLOR MILES A former youth player with Arsenal, Taylor served his scholarship with West Ham United and gained valuable experience during a loan spell under Danny and Nicky Cowley at Concord Rangers before he made the move permanent
in September 2014 following his release by the Hammers. He followed the Cowleys to Braintree Town in the summer of 2015 and played a vital part in the Essex side’s impressive campaign which saw them reach the end-of-season play-offs, weighing in with a number of goals, the majority of which came from dead ball situations. Having picked up an ankle injury in the opening game of the season, Taylor enjoyed a spell on loan at Boston United in the build-up to Christmas in a bid to get some much needed match action under his belt.
KEGAN EVERINGTONYoung midfielder Kegan signed his first professional contract in the summer of 2014 having progressed through the Club’s youth ranks. Having impressed in the youth team, Kegan was drafted into the first team squad for the first time on New Year’s
Day 2014, making his debut as a substitute in a 1-1 draw at Grimsby Town. He linked up with Lincoln United on a three-month loan in August 2014 and finished the season as a first team regular, putting in a succession of solid performances in the middle of the park. LEE BEEVERS
Versatile defender Lee Beevers signed a two-year contract with the Club in the summer of 2015 following his release by Mansfield Town. Lee, who made 175 appearances for the Imps in all competitions between 2005 and 2009, had been with Mansfield
for a couple of seasons, helping the Stags to the Conference title in 2012/13. The former Welsh under-21 international initially joined the Imps loan from Boston United in February 2005 before the move was made permanent three days later with the former Ipswich Town youngster joining for an undisclosed fee. After representing his country at youth level, Lee won his first Welsh under-21 cap in their game against Germany in January 2005 and followed this up with five more U21 caps following his arrival at Sincil Bank. A successful 2006/07 campaign saw Lee named as the supporters’ “Player of the Season” and he spent a further two years with the Imps before joining Colchester United. Injuries restricted his playing time in Essex, however, and he subsequently joined Mansfield after a year with Walsall.
V
KEY PLAYER:NATHAN ARNOLD
MIDFIELD
Winger Nathan signed for the Imps on a two-year contract a week before the start of the current campaign. Nathan started his career as a youngster with home town team Mansfield Town, making his first team debut as a teenager early in the 2005/06 season. Scoring his first goal in only his third game, Nathan went on to appear over 100 times for the Stags before joining Hyde United in August 2009. After a season with Hyde he linked up with Alfreton Town and helped them reach promotion to the top tier of the non-League pyramid in his first season at the Impact Arena, scoring 13 times in all competitions during the course of the 2010/11 campaign. He spent a further two years with Alfreton before helping Cambridge United win The FA Trophy and promotion to the Football League in 2013/14. He spent the following season on loan at Grimsby Town and joined the Mariners on a permanent deal in the summer of 2015. Nathan played an integral part in Grimsby’s return to the Football League via the play-offs, scoring the third goal in their 3-1 success over Forest Green Rover at Wembley Stadium and although he was offered new terms at Blundell Park, he opted for a move to Sincil Bank and the red and white stripes of Lincoln City.

JAMIE McCOMBE Centre-back Jamie McCombe returned to the Club in January 2016 on a deal that will run until the end of the 2016/17 season following his release by Stevenage. Having first joined the Imps from Scunthorpe United back in March 2004, 6’5” Jamie went on to play 101 times for the Imps in all competitions, scoring eight goals, before Bristol City triggered a release clause in
his contract. The Imps’ “Player of the Season” in 2004/05, Jamie’s last City appearance came in the 2005/06 League 2 play-offs when he skippered the side against Grimsby Town and he was an instant success at Bristol City, helping the Robins win promotion to the Championship in his first season with the club. The Pontefract-born defender followed this with more success in 2007/08 as Bristol reached the play-offs only to miss out on a Premier League place to Hull City and he went on to spend another two years in the south west before returning north to join Huddersfield Town. He chalked up over 50 appearances during two years with Huddersfield before playing 59 games in three years with Doncaster Rovers, although he missed all bar the last two games of the 2013/14 season due to a stress fracture in his back.
ALEX WOODYARD An integral part of Braintree Town’s successful 2015/16 campaign, England C captain Alex became Danny Cowley’s first signing as City manager. Alex was a youth with Charlton Athletic and served his scholarship at Southend United before penning professional terms with the Shrimpers in the summer of 2011 having already forced his way into the first team at Roots Hall.
He gained further experience during loan spells at Farnborough and Braintree an on his release from Southend linked up with Dartford after impressing during the 2013/14 pre-season. Despite being an almost ever-present during his one season at Dartford he moved to Concord Rangers, managed at the time by Danny and Nicky Cowley. An impressive year at Concord saw him pick up the supporters’ ‘Player of the Season’ award but he followed the Cowley brothers to Braintree after a week-long trial at Leyton Orient.
SEAN RAGGETT City fought off interest from clubs from the EFL, SPL and The National League to secure the signature of 6’5” centre back Sean, who penned a two-year contract in the run up to the start of the 2016/17 season. Sean started his career as a youngster with Gillingham before joining Dover Athletic as a 16-year-old and went on to become a first
team regular at The Crabble, going on to make over 150 first team appearances. Having also gained experience during a loan spell at Whitstable Town, he was part of the Dover squad that secured promotion to the top flight of non-League football in 2013/14 and he followed this up two years later as the Whites reached the semi-finals of the Vanarama National League play-offs. As Sean is under the age of 24 Dover Athletic are entitled to a compensation fee for their role in his development.
DAYLE SOUTHWELL Wycombe Wanderers striker Dayle Southwell joined the Imps on a month-long loan deal at the beginning of February 2017. Dayle is a familiar face in Lincolnshire footballing circles having started his career at Grimsby Town before spending two prolific seasons at Boston United, plundering over 50 goals for the Pilgrims at National League North level. Snapped by by Wycombe last summer, Dayle’s career at Adams Park has unfortunately been a bit stop-start due to injury but now he’s fully fit the Oxford-born goal-getter will be looking to get some valuable playing time under his belt whilst at Sincil Bank Stadium.
BILLY KNOTT Gillingham midfielder Billy Knott joined the Imps in February 2017 on a loan deal which will run until the end of the season. During his youth career Billy spent time with West Ham United, Chelsea and Sunderland and gained valuable first team experience during loan spells at AFC Wimbledon and Woking before making his Sunderland first team debut on the final day of the 2012/13 Premier League season, coming on as a substitute in a 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane. Further loans with Wycombe Wanderers and Port Vale followed in the 2013/14 campaign and having failed to make the breakthrough into the Sunderland first team sufficiently, Billy - who represented England at U16, U17 and U20 level - signed a two-year deal with Bradford City. A member of the Bradford side that defeated Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the FA Cup, Canvey Island born Billy went on to make over 60 appearances for the Bantams before joining fellow League One side Gillingham. He made 24 EFL and cup appearances this season for Gillingham prior to his move to Sincil Bank.
JOSH GINNELLY Burnley winger Josh Ginnelly joined the Imps on loan until the end of the season just before the close of the January transfer window. Josh was a youth with Aston Villa before serving his scholarship with Shrewsbury Town, making his Football League bow at the beginning of the 2014/15 season in the process. Linking up with Burnley 12 months later, Josh gained experience of National League football last season during a loan spell with Altrincham and recently returned from a stint in League One with Walsall.
