SCHOLARSHIPSTrinityCollegeispleasedtoannounceanewRomeCampus Summer Scholarship to help defray the costs ofstudyingabroadinItaly.BothTrinityCollegeandvisitingstudentsareeligible.Awardswillbebaseduponbothneedandmerit,asdeterminedbythestudent’s financialaidstatus,academicrecords,references, essay,andotherinformationincludedinthescholar-shipapplicationandtheprogramapplication. Estimated award amounts are as follows:

Three-Week Intensive Program:• Twoawardsat$2,500• Oneawardat$1,000

Five-Week Language and Culture Program:

• Oneawardat$5,000• Threeawardsat$3,000

HOW TO APPLYEligibilityRequirements

• TrinityCollegeRomeCampussummerprograms areopentoanyU.S.undergraduatestudentin good academic and social standing at his/her homeinstitution.• Aminimum2.5GPAisrequired.• NopreviousknowledgeofItalianisrequired. Visitingstudents(non-Trinity)arewelcomed ontheprogramsandareencouragedtoapply.

Required Application MaterialsAll students must submit the following materials to be considered:

• Completedonlineapplication• Oneletterofacademicreferencefromafaculty member• Nonrefundableapplicationdepositof$150(check madepayableto“TrinityCollege”)

In addition to the above items, visiting students (non-Trinity) must submit:

• Officialcollegetranscript(s)• Study-abroadadviserrecommendation

HOUSING AND MEALSTrinityCollegeRomeCampussummerstudentsarehoused in dormitory-style accommodations in a nearby hotel.LocatedontheAventineHill,thehotelisnomorethanafive-minutewalkfromcampus.

During summer sessions, program participants are provided with five meals per week:

EXCURSIONSFive-WeekLanguageandCultureProgramparticipantstakeanovernightacademicexcursiontoSouthernItaly,wheretheyvisitNaples,Capri,andPompeii.

DIRECTOR AND RESIDENT STAFFLivio Pestilli has been director and a professor at the TrinityCollegeRomeCampusformorethan35years.EquallyathomeinItalyandintheUnitedStates,heholdsdegreesfromSt.JohnFisherCollege,TheUniversityofChicago,andtheUniversityofRome.Anaccomplishedarthistorian,Pestillicurrentlyisresearchingthedepictionoftheweak,thepoor,andthevulnerableinRenaissanceandBaroqueart.Pestilliissupportedbyanexperiencedanddedicatedteamoffourfull-timeadministrativestaffmembers,whoareavailabletostudents24/7.

ACADEMIC OVERVIEWThe Trinity College Rome Campus offers a broad liberal arts curriculum with courses taught in a wide range of disciplines. As much as possible, all courses make use of the resources of the city of Rome and of what can be seen and experienced directly:

• Studentschoosebetweentwoacademicoptions: Three-WeekIntensiveProgramorFive-Week LanguageandCultureProgram.

• Coursesaredesignedwithanexperiential component in the city at large and present students with the opportunity to become immersed in their hostcitythroughsitevisits,walkingtours,and academicexcursionsthroughoutRome.

• ClassmatesareNorthAmericanstudentsfromthe nation’smostprestigiouscollegesanduniversities.

• NoItalianlanguageexperienceisrequired; study-abroadstudentsareNOTrequiredtostudy Italianduringthesummerprogram,althoughthey areencouragedtodoso.

FacultyCourses are taught by faculty and adjunct professors oftheTrinityCollegeRomeCampusandareapprovedasaregularpartofTrinity’sundergraduatecurriculum.VisitingfacultyfromTrinityCollegeinHartford, Connecticut,alsomayteachduringsummerprograms.

Transcripts/CreditTrinityCollegeinHartford,Connecticut,issues transcriptsforallcoursestaughtattheRomeCampus.MostinstitutionsacceptTrinityCollegeRomeCampuscoursesfortransfercredit;visitingstudentsshouldarrangethisinadvanceoftheprogram.
