Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC)

Individuals from all over New York City come to Animal Care Centers
(ACC) every day of the week for reasons as diverse as reclaiming lost
pets, adopting new furry family members and getting resources to
help them keep their pets in homes. We also offer free vaccine
clinics for dogs and cats in the Bronx. Join us in our mission to end
animal homelessness in NYC!
Volunteer opportunities include dog-walking, cat and rabbit
socializing, fostering, helping out at Community Pets clinics and

Ariva works to financially empower lower-income households of
NYC. We do so with our free financial counseling program and our
free tax preparation program. We are in need of volunteers to assist

Bronx River Alliance

The mission of the Bronx River Alliance is to serve as a coordinated
voice for the river and work in harmonious partnership to protect,
improve and restore the Bronx River corridor and greenway so that
they can be healthy ecological, recreational, educational and
economic resources for the communities through which the river
flows.

-Project WASTE: Addressing floatables litter through boom
cleanouts, data collection, hot spot adoption

Bronxworks helps individuals and families improve their economic
and social well-being. From toddlers to seniors, we feed, shelter,

East Harlem Tutorial Program offers a variety of volunteer
opportunities through our public charter schools and after-school
programs, ranging from subject-matter tutoring, providing students

students for college success. Volunteers support our scholars,

Food Bank For New York City has been working to end food poverty
in our five boroughs for 35 years. As the city’s largest hunger-relief
organization, we employ a multifaceted approach centered on
helping low-income New Yorkers overcome their circumstances and

I.S.L.A. - UFT Community Learning Schools

We are a public high school located next to Lehman College at the
Walton Campus. As a Community Learning School, we serve as a
beacon for our staff, parents, and community members through the
provision of SNAP registration, Food Pantry Distribution, Vision
Screenings, and Eyewear, capacity building programs, and TEN
Network Referrals through Food Bank for NYC. Our primary need is
for a part time-volunteer data analyst at the moment.

We imagine a world where every child is accepted, where programs
are free and non-competitive, and where passionate volunteers
open their hearts to youth with disabilities.
KEEN New York empowers youth with disabilities through free
programs of exercise, fitness, and fun led by volunteer coaches. Our
volunteers are paired one-to-one with a young person diagnosed
with a disability to help them engage in activities like sports, swim,
and yoga. This opportunity is flexible, so volunteers can attend
sessions whenever it is convenient for them

LiveOn NY is a nonprofit membership organization that works to
change public policy, grow resources and strengthen services for
older adults.
We are looking for volunteers to help us with our Know Your Rights
Campaign! Volunteers will educate older adults about various rights
and resources on topics including senior safety, elder abuse,
benefits/entitlements, & housing. We provide comprehensive
training to all volunteers.

member-led, grassroots organization fighting for racial and

Park. We propagate, grow and maintain organic perennial plants

Part of the Solution (POTS)

The mission of POTS is to be a loving community in
the Bronx that nourishes the basic needs and hunger
of all who come to its door. Helping low-income
families and individuals since 1982, Part of the
Solution (POTS) has grown to become a leading
provider of emergency food, legal representation and
social services in the Bronx. POTS’ unique “one-stop
shop” model of interrelated programming has been
designed to carry out its vision of helping low-income
individuals and families move from crisis to stability
and ultimately self-sufficiency. This year alone, POTS’
work will touch the lives of more than 30,000 people,
including 9,000 children.
Volunteer Opportunities:
• Community Dining Room: Our restaurant-style
dining room is open 365 days a year and needs up to
12 volunteers to serve meals to approximately 400
guests per day. Community dining room volunteers
are needed from 12:00 PM-4:00 PM.
• Morning Meal Prep: Each day we need 6-8
volunteers to make over 400 portions of nutritious,
healthy food for the day’s lunch. Meal Prep
volunteers are needed from 8:15 AM - 11:15 AM.
• Food Pantry Stocking: Each day close to 100
families walk through our Food Pantry. Two to three
volunteers are needed to restock the shelves from
11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Mon-Fri, and from 11:00 AM-
1: 00 PM and 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM on Saturday.
• Food Pantry Volunteer: These volunteers assist
clients in finding what they need during pantry hours.
Three Food Pantry volunteers are needed from 9:00
AM to 12:00 PM Mon-Sat

PowerMyLearning, Inc.

PowerMyLearning is an education nonprofit located in New York
that works to leverage technology access and resources so that the
learning relationships are strengthened between students, families,
and teachers in diverse communities. To help us in this mission,
volunteers play a vital role by contributing in three different ways:
cleaning and refurbishing computers donated to us at our
warehouse, calling families to remind them about upcoming
workshops or gather feedback about workshops they attended at
call banks, or by assisting Family Trainers and other
PowerMyLearning staff at Family Learning Workshop classrooms.

Selfhelp Community Service

Selfhelp assists Older Adults to live independently and with dignity
by providing many services including Senior Centers, Housing, Home
Health Care Aides, Social Workers with extensive info on benefits,
etc. The Virtual Senior Center program(http://vscm.selfhelp.net)
provides computers to homebound Seniors so they can attend live,
interactive one-hour classes on many topics. We look for volunteers
to lead those classes on a topic of their choice on weekdays,
evenings or weekends via their computer.

University Neighborhood Housing Progam (UNHP)

UNHP is able to offer free income tax preparation to 1,400 Bronxites
thanks to the effort of our volunteers: we train students as greeters,
housing specialist, ambassador, and tax preparers. No prior
experience is needed. A seasonal position also becomes available
during the income tax season.

West Side Campaign Against Hunger

West Side Campaign Against Hunger (WSCAH) changes our
perception of hungry people by working in partnership with them,
providing food with dignity, and empowering customers to find
solutions. Through a supermarket-style food pantry, WSCAH
alleviates hunger and creates a culture that promotes self-reliance
and works for a change.
We appreciate the vital support individual volunteers provide to our
various programs. Last year, our volunteers generously donated
over 20, 000 hours of assistance that enabled us to serve 18,121
customers with a myriad of services. We are constantly seeking
committed and passionate volunteers to learn about our work, food
insecurity in our city, and to help meet the needs of our programs.
