Scratch and Handicap Trophieswill be played for during the season in Match Play

RESTRICTIONS FORJUNIOR & JUVENILE MEMBERS

Juniors will only be eligible to play in the Gents & Ladies Championships with a handicap of 28 (boys) and 36 (girls) or under. All other Juniors and Juveniles to

play in JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS ONLY.

Any Junior or Juvenile (Boys Handicap 28 or less, Girls Handicap 36 or less) wishing to play in adult competitions must be drawn with two adults.


NOTESHandicap

To maintain an official Handicap, at least three medal scores must be returned each season, in a 9 or 18 hole Medal Competition. To obtain an official Club Handicap, at least three cards totaling 54 holes must be submitted played over one of the Club’s measured courses. Completed cards should be endorsed “For Handicap” and placed in the boxes in the Changing Rooms for the attention of the Competitions Convenor or Handicap Secretary.

Medal CompetitionsAll Medal competitions require players to enter their names on the on-line entry form by 6pm two or three days before the event. This is to allow the Draw to be published in good time. There will always be circumstances where late entries are unavoidable, but members are asked to enter by the relevant deadline whenever possible. After a time, serial late entrants will not be allowed to compete.

Gents Club ChampionshipsGents Championship competitions will be held in three classesClub Championship Open Class 2 Championships 10 to 15 handicapsClass 3 Championships 16 to 28 handicaps

The number of qualifiers for the knock-out stage in any class will be determined by the number of entries and will be either 8, 12 or 16. Matchplay stages will take place during week commencing Monday 24th June with the Finals being held on Saturday 29th June. Friday 28 th June is designated a contingency day for the knockout stages in case of bad weather earlier in the week. The Club Championship will be played over 36 holes, while Class 2 and Class 3 finals will be played over 18 holes. Spectators will be welcome to follow these matches.

Gents Fox and Hounds TrophyTo qualify, a player must finish in the first three of the nominated competitions. The finalists from the three Club Championships and the Gents Handicap Matchplay competitions also qualify. The winner will be the player with the lowest net aggregate score over two rounds of 18 holes played on Saturday 14th September. Strokeplay rules will apply on the day.


Matchplay CompetitionsGents & Seniors Entries close on 31st March

The Draw Sheets for all Matchplay competitions will be displayed on the relevant Competitions Notice Boards and in online systems where possible. First rounds in the Gents Hole Cup and Pye Lyle Trophies must be completed by Sunday 5th May

Notes1. Entry fees MUST BE PAID before names are allowed into the draw.

2. Match results MUST be on the DRAW SHEET by the specified dates to avoid elimination of both parties.

3. It is the responsibility of all players to arrange the match. Telephone numbers should be written beside your name on the draw sheet.

4. The Competitions Convenor reserves the right to eliminate both parties in the event of a SUBSTANTIATED complaint, but will do this in exceptional circumstances

Health and SafetyMEMBERS ARE REQUESTED to make themselves aware of and conform to all Club health and safety rules and all signs while at Minto Golf Club.

1. To observe the etiquette of golf while using the course.2. To replace DIVOTS.3. To repair PITCH marks on GREENS.4. To allow players playing official matches or competitions priority on the course.5. To allow priority to competitors in JUNIOR SECTION events.6. To keep the course free from litter.

Clubhouse and Notice BoardMembers are requested to read the notices in the Clubhouse and check tee-off times on the screen in the Clubhouse corridor before commencing play. Please pay particular attention to competitions marked “Check Website for Free Available Tee Times” as there may be availability for tee-off times once the competitions are well under way.

Medal TeesMedal tees should only be used in a competition.


Additional Rules1. Out of Bounds

A ball played off the 1st tee, lying to the left or right, beyond the line of the white markers, shall be out of bounds.

2. Staked TreesIf such a tree interferes with a player’s stance or intended swing, the ball must be lifted and dropped without penalty one club length from the nearest point of relief, not nearer the hole.

3. Lateral Water HazardThe ditch on the left of the 16th and 18th fair- ways is classed as a Lateral Water Hazard. A ball lying in the ditch between the boundary fences, or wall, and the line of Red Markers can be dropped within two club lengths from the point where the ball entered the hazard, and not nearer the hole, under penalty of one stroke. Please refer to Rule 26.

4. PoleAny ball striking the power pole on 3rd fairway or the power cables on the 3rd/5th holes must be replayed without penalty.

Standard of Dress

Members’ attention is drawn to the standard of dress generally expected of golfers at all times, both on the course and in the Clubhouse.

1. Vest Tops are not acceptable.2. Tracksuits, football/rugby/cricket replica shirts or shirts with offensive

wording are not acceptable.3. Shorts should be tailored and worn with socks.4. Tailored jeans need be clean and in good condition.5. Approved golf shoes should be worn on the course. Shoes, other than those

worn on the course, are required in the carpeted areas of the Clubhouse.6. No headgear should be worn in the Clubhouse. Hats or caps worn on the

course must be worn correctly.


Courtesy to other Members

1. Acknowledging them on the golf course.2. Being aware of their presence when playing in front.3. Avoiding the exertion of undue pressure on those playing in front.4. Letting groups behind through when you have fallen a clear hole behind the

group in front5. Keeping voices down, standing still generally opposite the player, and being

aware of others playing nearby.6. Not cutting in when players clearly behind are clearly going to have to wait if you

drive off.7. Avoiding all forms of harassment.8. Making visitors feel welcomed.9. Promptly paying wagers when on the losing side.10.Avoiding drunken, boorish behaviour.11.Mobile phones must not be used on the course.12.Generally contributing to the welfare of the Club.

Courtesy to Staff

1. Acknowledging them both on the course and in the clubhouse.2. Complimenting the work of the green staff when appropriate.3. Thanking the house staff likewise for what they do.4. Being patient at the bar in busy periods.5. Respecting the member of staff’s position.6. Respecting the Club hours.7. Avoiding all forms of harassment.8. Abiding by the Club Rules.9. Directing any complaints relating to staff through the Secretary.

Good standards cost nothing and they are to the benefit of the membership in general. They are a common denominator that will establish a genuine Club atmosphere free from the likelihood of pulling rank. Finally, the standards of a club are most noticed by visitors, who on gaining a good impression, will want to return.

Guidance for the Members introducing Visitors

We will not be issuing Concessionary Vouchers in 2019

The Green Fee for a Visitor introduced by a Member is £10

A member may introduce up to three Visitors at any one time, on which occasion the visiting player will pay only the reduced rate applicable.

Green Fees should be paid at the Bar. If the Bar is closed, please put the fee in an envelope and place in one of the boxes used for internal competition entry fees. There is a box in each of the Ladies and Gents Changing Rooms.

No visitor is to be introduced more than 6 times per annum. It is the duty of the introducing member to ensure that their visitor has not been introduced more than 6 times in the year.
