HPE Servers How many volumes can I create when using the B140i? A total of 10 LUNS is supported. The controller features are listed in the HPE Dynamic Smart Array B140i RAID Controller User Guide. I am trying to configure a DL560 Gen9 with 2 CPU’s planning to upgrade to 4 in the future, is it necessary to purchase the Mezzanine Board Kit (795107-B21)? Can it be installed on site? No, the Mezzanine Board Kit (795107-B21) is not required for 2 CPU’s configurations and can be ordered in the future when a 3rd processor is ordered. The installation is very simple, therefore it can be done on site. It is explained in the HPE Proliant DL560 Gen9 Server Maintenance and Service Guide (Page 30). What are the advantages of using the HP Dual 8GB microSD Enterprise Midline USB Kit (PN: 741279-B21) in comparison to another SD card or USB kits? The HP Dual 8GB MicroSD Enterprise Midline USB is a dual-microSD card module providing data redundancy through a mirrored RAID-1 configuration, unlike the USB and SD kist which do not provide any type of redundancy. This microSD card module connects to an internal USB port and is configured upon boot. The kit includes the USB dongle and 2 MicroSD cards. You can find more information in the HP Dual 8GB MicroSD Enterprise Midline USB User Guide. Where can I check the support of HPE servers with OpenVMS? I tried the OS Support Matrix but it is not listed there. For OpenVMS v8.4 and prior versions you can refer to the OpenVMS hardware support chart. For the new OpenVMS Version 8.4-1H1 you can refer to the VSI OpenVMS Version 8.4-1H1 for Integrity Servers QuickSpecs Which options that are installed in HPE ProLiant servers are not included in the server Care Pack coverage? You can find the products that require a separate Care Pack, despite of being parts installed in the server, in the document HPE Care Pack Services coverage for HPE ProLiant options. In an Apollo 2800r, is it possible to assign all the 24 disks to the 2 or 3 nodes in the chassis? The HP Apollo 2800r allows to allocate drives flexibly across all server nodes. This can be confirmed with the HP Apollo 2000 System User Guide. It also explains the limitations regarding the storage controller (highlighted in yellow) and how the allocation of drives is performed through iLO. Drives can only be assigned to a single node. Each drive that is assigned to a node will not be seen by the other node (on the hardware level). If you wish you can set up a node with 24 drives and leave the other nodes with zero drives.

HPE Storage Which Block Persona features have been introduced in the new 3PAR SSMC 2.3? The 3PAR SSMC 2.3 brings a large numbers of innovations and new features, regarding Block Persona:

- Customers have the options to create, edit and delete templates for Virtual Volumes according to the desired settings.

- Full integration with Host Explorer software, host configuration information can be managed through the 3PAR SSMC 2.3.

- Estimating Dedupe saving on Virtual Volumes through the Virtual Volumes actions menu. - Virtual Volumes capabilities view , which allows users to see if a specific VV is part of a Remote Copy

Group ,or has Priority Optimization , Adaptive Optimization or Adaptive Flash Cache enabled . - Export and Un-export actions provide the possibility to Export/Un-export VVs on each Host set.

An overview on all the new features introduced with the 3PAR SSMC 2.3 can be found in the HP 3PAR StoreServ Management Console 2.3 Release Notes. Do 3PAR Arrays provide the possibility to change the Sparing Algorithm online? With the exception of the Custom Sparing policy, Sparing Algorithm values such as Minimal – Default – Maximal can be changed online. The Spare Policy is set during the installation of the system, it can be changed later on via the 3PAR CLI commands. The Custom sparing policy needs to be managed manually by the administrator, while Minimal – Default – Maximal are managed automatically by the 3PAR OS. After changing the sparing policy with the “setsys SparingAlgorithm value” command, the change comes into effect by using the “admithw” command however increasing the sparing Algorithm should be planned carefully as it would require additional available capacity, in case of no available capacity then no change would be made. Is it possible to set or edit both the expiration and retention time for snapshots with 3PAR Recovery Manager for SQL and Exchange software? When taking a snapshot, the expiration and retention time can be set either in hours or days, for a minimum time of 1 hour up to a maximum of 43800 hours or from a minimum of 1 day up to a maximum of 1825 days; to set the retention time a 3PAR Virtual Lock license is necessary. After the date is set for expiration time, the Volume will be automatically deleted after being marked as expired; within the retention time, the volume cannot be removed. Are 3PAR SSDs “Enterprise class”? Yes, all Solid State Drives supported in 3PAR storage arrays are considered “Enterprise Class”. 3PAR arrays feature a number of advanced and unique flash optimizations which allow the use of the latest enterprise-class media without compromising on reliability – which is why HPE can offer an unconditional five-year warranty for all HPE 3PAR SSDs that covers both media wear-out and electronic failure. For more details, please see this 3PAR flash media brochure. Is there any limitation to having more than 16 servers in a VSA cluster? The best practices say the number of storage systems in a cluster should not exceed 10 in fact. See the HP StoreVirtual Storage User Guide p. 119 for more information. Exceeding these guidelines may cause sub-optimal performance or cause issues with volume availability in some failover and recovery situations. Can a linear vdisk benefit from SSD read cache in an MSA 2040? No. The SSD Read Cache will accelerate random reads of data residing on virtual disk groups. Is it possible to achieve high availability with automated failover with two StoreVirtual VSAs and a FOM? Yes, it is. Two storage systems and a Failover Manager is the minimum configuration for automated fault tolerant operation. For more information please see the HP StoreVirtual Storage User Guide, chapter How data protection levels work, from p. 158. I have several StoreVirtual 4530 nodes in a cluster. How much usable capacity can I expect after Network RAID 10 and 10+1 and how many node failures can I sustain? With NRAID 10 you have two copies of data across the available nodes. Therefore, you could sustain one node failure in this setup. Approximately half of the capacity after HW RAID is available for data. Data in a volume configured with Network RAID-10+1 is available and preserved in the event that any two storage systems become unavailable. Usable capacity of the cluster configured with NRAID 10+1 is limited to one third of the overall net capacity after HW RAID. Is it possible to upgrade an existing MSA 1040 1Gb iSCSI to 10Gb by replacing the transceivers? No, that is not possible or supported. Since the controllers cannot be replaced either, your option is to get a new 10Gb MSA 1040 system or upgrade the controllers to MSA 2040.

HPE Networking Do we have support for RoCE support in the 5700 series?? If not what about 59xx? RoCE is not supported in our switches per se. However, we do have DCBX + PFC support, technologies which are required for RoCE transport. We confirm both 5700 and 5900 are suitable for RoCE networking. What is the minimum version of Airwave that supports configuration and firmware upgrades on ArubaOS Switches running 16.01 FW? We recommend you to use Airwave version 8.2.x or higher. Support will include ZTP, firmware upgrades plus management and monitoring. What is this size of the log buffer in the Aruba 5400R switch and/or how many log entries? The 5400R Aruba switches support a maximum of 2000 log entries. Do we support WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) on 103 Instant APs? Wi-Fi Protected Setup is not supported on these APs. How many BFD sessions are supported on our VSR routers and what is the minimum interval configurable? The VSR can have up to 512 BFD sessions and the minimum interval for transmitting single-hop BFD control packets is 10 milliseconds. Can we mix different Instant APs under the same virtual controller? The customer is interested specifically in clustering 325 and 225 together. We can mix different IAP models under the same Virtual Controller with the main requirement to have the same OS version on the members of the cluster.

02/04/2016

Dear HPE Customer,

As of February 16th, 2016, the selected B-Series SKUs that are non-RoHS

compliant will have entered the EOL announcement period. The purpose of this

EOL announcement is to inform you of an End of life (EOL) associated with the

following HPE StoreFabric B-series products that are non-RoHS 2016

Compliant.

What is RoHS?

RoHS is the acronym for Restriction of Hazardous Substances. RoHS, also

known as Directive 2002/95/EC, originated in the European Union and restricts

the use of specific hazardous materials found in electrical and electronic

products. All applicable products in the Europe after July 1, 2016 must pass

RoHS compliance.

Why is RoHS compliance important?

The restricted materials are hazardous to the environment and pollute landfills,

and are dangerous in terms of occupational exposure during manufacturing

and recycling.

What do I need to know about the change in SKUs?

The difference between the current SKUs and the new compliant RoHS SKUs

are twofold:

(1) The SKU suffix will change to the following alphabetical letter, but the

product name is still the same. For example, HPE DC SAN Backbone

Director Power Supply AK863B rolled to AK863C

(2) Actual product hardware has been modified to be in compliance with

RoHS 2016 requirements

A list of the EOL milestones and associated EOL SKUs represented in this

letter are listed in (Table 1) and (Table 2). The EOL milestones are associated

with the SKU numbers listed in the column under “non-RoHS 2016 compliant”.

There is no EOSL applied to the SKUs referenced in (Table 2) because the

primary product number and its predecessor versions and suffixes are still

supported by HPE. For example, for the HPE SN8000B 8-slot Pwr Pack+ Dir

Switch SKU, the new RoHS 2016 compliant version QK710D, as well as

QK710C, QK710B, and QK710A will all continue to be supported.

(Table 1) End of life Announcement Definitions End of Life

Announcement

(EOLA)

Refers to the EOL announcement date and this

letter.

EOL Describes the process and period from EOL

announcement to End of Service life (EOSL).

Discontinuance (DISC) Orders after this date will be fulfilled based on

inventory.

Obsolescence (OBSO) Last day to purchase hardware or software, subject to availability.

End of Support Life

(EOSL)

HPE Support for the associated said products end on this date.

End of Life Announcement Milestones

The fit, form and function of the non-RoHS 2016 B-series SKUs are the same as the RoHS 2016 B-series SKUs.

Customers may continue to purchase non-RoHS 2016 compliant B-series SKUs until 4/29/16, which is subject to HPE inventory on hand.

On 4/30/16 the non-RoHS 2016 B-series SKUs mentioned in this EOL letter will progress into the discontinuance (DISC) period, and all orders after this date will be fulfilled based on inventory.

On 6/30/2016 the SKUs mentioned in this EOL announcement, will enter into the Obsolescence (OBSO) period, which is the last day to purchase hardware; all hardware is subject to availability.

Note: The USB drive listed at the end of (table 1) has nothing to do with RoHS, but the

2 Gb was replaced with a 4Gb USB Drive and happened to align in the same EOLA

period as the RoHS 2016 products.

Dear HPE Customer,

As of March 31, 2016, the selected SKUs for Brocade 8Gb SAN Switch for HPE

BladeSystem c-Class that are non-RoHS compliant will have entered the EOL

announcement period. The purpose of this EOL announcement is to inform you

of an End of life (EOL) associated with the Brocade 8Gb SAN Switch for HPE

BladeSystem c-Class that are non-RoHS 2016 Compliant. Non-compliant SKUs

will be replaced with compliant RoHS 2016 SKUs and in no way means that the

product itself will no longer be available for purchase, it will simply be replaced

with RoHS compliant product/SKUs that use the same product number but with

a suffix change.

(1) The SKU suffix will change to the next alphabetical letter, but the

product name is still the same. For example, Brocade 8/12c SAN

Switch for BladeSystem c-Class rolled from AJ820B to AJ820BC

(2) Actual product hardware has been modified to be in compliance with

RoHS 2016 requirements for the rolled SKUs.

A list of the EOL milestones and associated EOL SKUs represented in this

letter are listed in (Table 1) and (Table 2). The EOL milestones are associated

with the SKU numbers listed in the column under “non-RoHS 2016 compliant”.

There is no EOSL date applied to the SKUs referenced in (Table 2) because

the primary product number and its predecessor versions and suffixes are still

supported by HPE, until further notice. For example, for the Brocade 8/12c

SAN Switch for BladeSystem c-Class SKU, the new RoHS 2016 compliant

version AJ820C, will continue to be supported as well as all previous product

versions.

End of Life Announcement Milestones

The fit, form and function of the non-RoHS 2016 B-series SKUs are the same as the RoHS 2016 Brocade 8Gb SAN Switch for HPE BladeSystem c-Class SKUs.

Customers may continue to purchase non-RoHS 2016 compliant Brocade 8Gb SAN Switch for HP BladeSystem c-ClassSKUs, if they choose to until 4/29/16, which is subject to HPE inventory on hand.

On 4/30/16 the non-RoHS 2016 Brocade 8Gb SAN Switch for HPE BladeSystem c-Class SKUs mentioned in this EOL letter will progress into the discontinuance (DISC) period, and all orders after this date will be fulfilled based on inventory.

On 6/30/2016 the non-RoHS 2016 SKUs mentioned in this EOL announcement, will enter into the Obsolescence (OBSO) period, which is the last day to purchase hardware; all hardware is subject to availability.

(Table 2) Brocade 8Gb SAN Switch for HPE BladeSystem c-Class non-RoHS 2016 EOL dates

Note: EOL dates only apply to the Non-RoHS 2016 SKUs but the Brocade

8Gb SAN Switch for HPE BladeSystem c-Class RoHS 2016 compliant SKUs

will be available to order on 3/31/2016.
