    NOTICE is hereby given that the Geraldton MunicipalComicil on the 25th day of August, 1941, passed thefollowing resolution:-

    1. That paragraph (c) of clause 2 of provision1 (d) of the Scheme, page 8 of the Government Gazettedated 5th January, 1940, shall be altered to read asfollows:-

    (c) The expression ''floor area'' applied to a tone.ment shall mean the total nett internal super-ficial area of all floors of so many horizontalsections as there are storeys in the said tene-ment. In the calculation of ' ' nett internalfloor area,'' walls, porches, staircases, andall embellishments shall he excluded.

    2. That clause (3) of provision 1 (0) of the Scheme,page 8 of the Government Gazette dated 5th January,1940, be revoked.

    3. That tile Scheme he amended by inserting in iieuof clause (3) of provision 1 (d) the following:-

    (a) Al] or any building used for tenement house pur-poses shall he of brick, stone, or cement construction;

    (b) existing building of stone, brick or cement maybe altered into tenement houses, provided:-

    such buildings were erected and have been usedonly for the purposes of human habitation;

    all alteratiomss shall be of a permanent naturein stone, brick am' cement;

    there shall be a dividing wall of at least9 inches in thickness without any openingsbetween the portion of the buildings to beused by each family or between each self-contained flat, and thus wall must be con-structed of material that will resider the wallfire-resisting and sound proof to the approvalof tile Council, providing that in such cii'-cumstances the Couiscil may approve of suchwall to be less than 9 inches in thickness;

    in the event of any portion of any existingdwelling os' building, to be altered into atenensent house, slot complying with the by-laws and regulations in force at the time thatany alteration is desired to be made, suchportion of the building as does not complyshall be altered in such a way as to complywith the existing by-law-s and regulations;

    any person making such alterations or additionsshall comply with all the existing regulationsand by-laws of the municipality including theHealth Act and regulations;

    any dwelling-house or other building so alteredshall he deemed a teisemeist within the mean-ing of the by-laws or regulations for the con-trol of tenement houses, set out in Govern-inent Gazette of .5th January, 1940.
