Quotes from Students on OER

“Since my experience with OER courses has been great so far, I have been enrolled in four classes during Summer in this modality.”

“What I like about OER course is that they are always available when I need them. I have lost books in the past. In addition to that, I love to learn watching videos.”

“I really liked the fact that this class was an open educational resource class. It really saved me a lot of money and I liked that about this class.”

“The open educational resources provided was a great way of saving time and money. Everything was accessible and handy in use which benefited me in many ways regarding my education in college.”

“I enjoyed the course because I didn’t have to purchase a book and the videos and reading assignments really helped me understand the material.”

“Not purchasing a book was a very big help. I like the way it is. I have always access to the book and I don’t have to pick up the book and bring it to the class every class and or pick it to study. “

OER SDV100 is a Quality CourseQuality Matters (QM) is a faculty-centered, nationally recognized, peer review process that focuses on continuous quality improvement of online and hybrid course design. ELI has strived to use this standard of measurement to meet QM standards in our course design and revision process.

There are three pieces to the QM Program: the QM Rubric, Peer Review Process, and QM Professional Development which looks at 8 essential standards:

• Course Overview and Introduction• Learning Objectives (Competencies)• Assessment and Measurement• Instructional Materials• Course Activities and Learner Interaction• Course Technology• Learner Support• Accessibility and Usability

A course needs a score of at least 84 out of 99 points to meet the standards. SDV100 received 97 points.
