Can  Open  Educa,onal  Resources  make  an  impact  on  "the  iron  triangle"  of  cost,  access  and  quality?  In  this  session,  you’ll  be  exposed  to  the  different  low-­‐cost  materials  available  and  discuss  how  we  can  make  our  online  courses  more  affordable  for  students.  The  speakers  will  also  demonstrate  a  new  directory  site  dedicated  to  low-­‐cost  materials.

   Defining Open Education Resources (OER)

Teaching,  learning,  and  research  resources  that  reside  in  the  public  domain  or  have  been  released  under  an  intellectual  property  license  that  permits  their  free  use  and  re-­‐purposing  by  others.  Open  Educa6onal  Resources  are  explicitly  licensed  for  certain  kinds  of  use,  redistribu6on,  and  remixing.

• Textbook  prices  jumped  82%  between  2002  and  2012,  three  6mes  the  rate  of  infla6on.  (Government  Accountability  Office)
