Arkansas CCSS Implementation Post Summit

(October 11, 2011)       • Launched the design of the strategic plan

at the summit and now have fully-developed the plan and made it accessible to all stakeholders

• Follow-up Summit to be held in the fall via use of technology and public television network

• Continue to broaden awareness through strategic communications with business and civic groups and parents

Lessons Learned

• Communication is the key• You can’t communicate too much

or too often with all stakeholders• The message needs to be clear,

concise and comprehensive• Making the connection with

teacher/leader effectiveness and college and career readiness

Summit Impact         • Clearly demonstrated that much

can be done in a short amount of time when working in collaboration with groups such as ASCD to merge national expertise with state-level knowledge base and human capital

• Promoted statewide efforts of working together to realize shared goals
