Leadership for Innovation and Creativity - 5 days/4 nights Course Date: June 10-14This course takes students on a journey of self-discovery and acceptance as they develop the leadership skills necessary to effectively combine their gifts with their passions. This course is appropriate for those who are intellectually curious and may or may not be identified as “gifted”. Topics such as sustainability and technology will be explored.

NEW! Sport, Physical Activity and Recreation (SPARC) Leadership - 5 days/4 nightsCourse Date: July 8-12SPARC leadership provides an introduction to leadership through the lens of sport, physical activity and recreation. This course will empower students to inspire play, healthy active living and well-being in their classrooms, school, and community.

Foundations of Youth Leadership - 5 days/4 nightsCourse Date: August 24-28Foundations of Youth Leadership is about discovering oneself at an entry point to life-long leadership. It focuses on exploring the various forms that leadership takes, emphasizing that each individual has the capacity to lead using their own unique abilities. Students will make connections between their leadership potential and their classrooms, school and community.

Intermediate Arts: Emerging Leadership - 7 days/6 nightsCourse Dates: May 27-June 2, August 18-24Intermediate Arts attracts students who have an interest in the arts and in particular, those with leadership potential. Through music, dance, drama, creative writing and visual arts, students will explore how they can use the arts to bring out the best in themselves and others within their classrooms, school and communities.

Intermediate Athletics Leadership - 7 days/6 nightsCourse Dates: July 15-21, July 29- August 4, August 12-18Intermediate Athletics Leadership harnesses the spirit of sport, physical activity and recreation to help students realize their leadership potential. This course will inspire students to believe in themselves and to make a difference in their classrooms, school, and communities.

Intermediate School Leadership - 7 days/6 nightsCourse Date: August 5-11Whether a student is taking their first leadership step, or they are emerging as a leader, this course has leadership pathways for all. Students will leave feeling more comfortable applying their leadership skills in their classrooms, school and communities.

Secondary Growing Leadership - 5 days/4 nightsCourse Date: May 5-9This course is for students who are interested, or have a need for leadership development. These leaders may struggle with academics or personal organization, and/or access learning support services in their school. Teacher supports are encouraged to register for this course to grow alongside their students and be a part of their leadership journey.

Secondary Arts: Inspiring Leadership - 7 days/6 nightsCourse Date: June 26-July 2 Secondary Arts empowers students to use their creativity and passion to make a positive impact within their classrooms, school, and communities. In this course, students will explore their own personal leadership styles and skills through many mediums of the arts, including music (vocal and instrumental), dance, visual arts, and drama.

Secondary Athletics (SA) Leadership - 7 days/6 nightsCourse Dates: July 2-8, July 9-15Secondary Athletics Leadership uses sport, recreation, and physical activity to harness leadership potential. Through leadership development experiences, activity sessions and roundtable discussions students will identify how they can lead within their classrooms, school, and communities. Students returning to OELC have the option to enroll in the Youth Facilitator (YF) in Training stream of Secondary Athletics and potentially become a YF for our intermediate courses.NEW! – Participants can register to complete additional certificates during the SA course (eg. CPR – see website for details)

Secondary School Leadership (SSL) - 3 days/2 nightsCourse Dates: October 10-12, October 15-17Individual representatives or multiple council members are invited to attend SSL to ignite community, inclusion and belonging within their school! Leaders will be inspired to discover their voice as “partners in education” and develop a student-initiated action plan to implement upon return to their schools. Teacher advisors are encouraged to attend in support of their students and to network with others from around the province. Participants may come from student unity, athletics or arts councils, clubs/committees, Link Crew, transition teams or social justice/advocacy groups and more!!
