The last seminar of the year, held in mid-October, was attended by 38 representatives of the Trust’s corporate membership. Feedback from the participants was very positive and it was very pleasing to note the large number of Associate Trust Members who took time out of their busy schedules to join seminar attendees at lunch and talk about their role as a Member of Parliament. Similarly MPs were pleased to learn more about the backgrounds of the corporate representatives.
Participants were delighted to hear from the Speaker, Clerk of the House, the two Senior Whips, Hon Peter Dunne, the Prime Minister and the Deputy Leader of the Opposition.
Other MPs to address the gathering were Te Ururoa Flavell from the Mäori Party, Minister of Social Development Hon Paula Bennett, and first-timers Simon O’Conner and Dr Megan Woods. The last speaker of the day was the Chair of the Press Gallery, Jessica Mutch.
