Handa’s Surprise! We focussed on the story ‘Handa’s Surprise’ by Eileen Browne and explored many different elements of Africa. We had great fun joining in with the African drumming workshop at Pre-Prep and made our own drums in the Nursery. The children showed particular interest in the various animals that live in Africa and they sorted out which ones they thought belonged in Africa and which did not.

We acted out the story and tasted all the delicious fruits as well as some Cous cous.

What else have we been doing? The children showed great interest in dinosaurs and volcanoes so we followed their interest into these topics and even set off our own volcanic eruption! We listened to the story ‘Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs’ and used this story for counting outside.

Harvest & Halloween As this half term has drawn near an end, we have been learning about Harvest and Halloween and you will see some wonderful scarecrows and spiders that the children have made and are on display in the classroom.

Open Day After half term we will explore the ‘Stick Man’ story by Julia Donaldson, culminating in our wonderful Open Day on Saturday 8

th November. Also do come and visit our

real ‘Stick family’, yes we hatched them ourselves!

Please note that we have regrettably had to cancel

the Pre-Prep Holiday Club. We apologise for any inconvenience this

may cause.

Welcome! We would like to welcome Samuel, William, Sidney, Sophia, Eleanor, Luke, Freddie, Jack, Ianthe, Eleanor, Jack, Rosie, Katie, Harry, Grace, Isabella, Alex, Max, Matilda, Caiden, Jasmine, Ewan, Millie, Felix, Rupert, Elijah, Jackie, Penelope and Rylee and their parents/guardians to our Weekly Friday group. We hope you will make them all feel very welcome.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Great African Welly Walk
We had fun on our ‘Great African Welly Walk’ this week. The children and parents all enjoyed a stroll through Culford Park, wearing very colourful wellies, to raise money for ‘Farm Africa’ which helps African farmers grow themselves out of poverty and end hunger forever.
Fun, music & play time at Parent Baby & Toddler
Now offered here at Culford. Babies love swimming!
Babies have a real affinity with water, and because they’ve spent 9 months
floating in the womb, being in warm water feels much
more familiar to them than being on dry land.
Baby Area We have been delighted to
welcome lots of young babies to our ‘Parent, Baby & Toddler Sessions’. After half term we are pleased to announce that we will have a special ‘baby area’ with baby bouncers,
bumbos and playmats for the younger members of our group to use. We hope you will enjoy
using them.
