DDA meets associations, various groups, professional bodies for MPD - 2041

Meeting with residents, RWAs from urban and rural villages and market trader associations from special area (incl. walled city)

The meeting was held on 7th October 2020 with residents and RWAs from urban and rural villages in Delhi. Another meeting was held on 16th October 2020 with residents, RWAs and market trader associations from special area of Delhi (incl. walled city).

The objective of these meetings was to understand the issues faced by the aforesaid people and local bodies and discuss feasible planning solutions and suggestions for MPD 2041.

It was also urged that these forums be used for providing constructivefeedback and discussing critical issues.

Meeting was held with residents and RWAs from Jhuggi Jhopri and Slum Resettlement Colonies of Delhi on 22.10.2020 online. Around 70 residents, RWA representatives and civil society leaders attended the meeting.

The participants were requested to share their suggestions towards improving built environment, housing and living conditions, access to social and physical infrastructure pertaining to their colonies. The main concern highlighted by most participants was regarding lack of proper water and sanitation facilities in their colonies.

A common concern expressed by participants was the need to allow for smallscale work spaces within existing households and for mixing of uses. Other issues raised by the participants was the need to include crèches along with primary school facilities within all such colonies so that women can go for work and their children are in safe environment.

An overarching suggestion was the need to relook at current social infrastructure norms for JJ colonies and slum resettlement colonies. Many also raised the issue of lack of affordable travel options from their colonies towards work centres and requested more buses be scheduled connecting their colonies.

DDA meets associations, various groups, professional bodiesfor MPD - 2041

Delhi Development Authority (DDA) in association with the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) is preparing the next Master Plan of Delhi 2041. As part of the planning process, a series of discussions and consultations were carried out with various stakeholders and civil society groups to seek their inputs towards driving the agenda of the Master Plan.

The DDA public portal is open for all residents of Delhi to share their views for the future of the city that will become part of a larger vision and strategy for MPD-2041.

Meeting with persons with disabilities

As a part of these public engagement series, meeting was held on 21st October 2020 with the Persons with Disabilities living in Delhi. CSOs working in the field of uplifting lives for Persons with disabilities like Ayushkama Foundation, Chronic Pain India, Astha Foundation, Svayam, Main Bhi Dilli campaign and others are supporting the facilitation of this engagement initiative.

DDA in association with NIUA met the Professionals and professional groups (IIA, IEI, ITPI, IUDI, ISOLA & IUT etc.) based in Delhi/ NCR to attend this meeting. The meeting was held on 29th October 2020.

Institute of Urban Transport (IUT) are apex bodies focussed on nurturing and advancing the fields of design, engineering and planning of the built environment in India. The need to factor-in the viewpoints and suggestions of professionals is critical towards preparing an implementable master plan. This stakeholder engagement discussed the following broad points:

Professional bodies such as Indian Institute of Architects (IIA), Institute of Engineers India (IEI), Institute of Town Planners India (ITPI), Institute of UrbanDesigners India (IUDI), Indian Society of Landscape Architects (ISOLA) and

• Feasible vision and approaches Delhi can adopt through the next master plan.

• Current issues and challenges with respect to the planning, design and management of the built/ unbuilt environment in Delhi.

• On-ground implementation issues with existing development controls and building by-laws.

All the participants expressed readiness to cooperate with government agencies to improve their colonies and their interlinked infrastructure. They appreciated DDA’s initiative to seek people’s views and understand their issues at the stage of preparation of MPD 2041.

Land Pooling portal opens till 14.11.2020 to invite expression of willingness to participate 54th Special Task Force meeting

The 54th meeting of STF was held on 09.10.2020 wherein officers from all the local bodies and other concerned agencies were present. The progress of the complaints received up to 30th September was reviewed.

In total 61,882 complaints have been received in STF till 15th September 2020 and action on 56,295 complaints has been initiated. 1732 ATR were received during the period from 01.09.2020 to 15.09.2020.

Demolition of Unauthorised construction has been carried out on an area of 3 bigha 11 biswa at Aya Nagar, Dist-Mehrauli by Revenue Department.

Demolition of unauthorised construction was carried out by North DMC in areas of Sant Nagar, Burari, Deep Vihar and Sant Nagar.Temporary structures have been removed by NDMC in their anti-encroachment drive from road stretches at Khan Market, Lodhi Road, Sarojini Nagar and Chanakyapuri, Gole market, Janpath, Shanker Market, Safdarjung and Connaught Place Palika Bazar.Temporary structures have been removed by SDMC from road stretches in various locations at Qutub institutional area, Chirag Delhi, Sheikh Sarai, Gautam Nagar, Yusuf Sarai Market and Hauz Khas Metro Station.

Demolition and Sealing Actions were executed by EDMC in SFS Flats-Mayur Vihar III, Ganesh Nagar, Pandav Nagar, Mayur Vihar, Jhilmil Indl. Area, New



Seelampur, Gagan Vihar, Shastri Park, Moti Ram Road, Shahdara, Durgapuri, Vijay Park- Maujpur, 2nd Pust - Sonia Vihar and Chauhan Banger.

Encroachment removal actions were carried out on Shani Bazar Road No.70 and Kabristan road, Road No. 66 and Bhrampuri main Road, Bhajanpura Mazaar and Chand Bagh to Sherpur Chowk, , Seelampur main market, Main Road Vikash Marg to Karkardoom, Vikas Marg to Jagat Puri, and other roads in vivek Vihar, Geeta Colony and Laxmi Nagar.

Anti-encroachment drives have also been initiated on approximately 272 km road length by ULBs between 15th September and 30th September 2020. North DMC has cleared 53.42 km and SDMC has cleared 104.3 km. EDMC has cleared 89.5km and NDMC has cleared 25.7 km.

Chairman, STF re-iterated that close co-ordinated efforts need to be continued by the ULBs & Govt. Agencies to take actions for removal of encroachment in accordance with the law. Police Deptt assured that all support shall be provided to remove the encroachment from roads and take action on unauthorised construction effectively.

The Jan Andolan campaign emphasized on “Unlock With Precaution” i.e. COVID-19 Appropriate Behaviour in the New Normal. The three key messages being highlighted are – “Wear Mask, Follow Physical Distancing, Maintain Hand Hygiene”.

A pledge was taken by DDA to follow all precautions such as wearing a mask /face shield, maintaining a distance of at least 6 feet from others and washing hands frequently with soap and water to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
