Baptisms at Lourdes There is still an opportunity for some very important pastoral ministry at Our Lady of Lourdes. We would

love to create a team that would help families prepare for baptism. On the evenings of Nov 4 & 11 the

diocese is sponsoring training of teams to assist in preparing the parish for Infant Baptisms. If you are

interested in being part of this parish team at Our Lady of Lourdes please call Fr. Brian or email him at

[email protected] as soon as you can. Important - CORI for ALL Volunteers

“All volunteers” at Our Lady of Lourdes, in all capacities, need to be CORI’d, need to read and sign the Code of Conduct to return to the rectory and to also take a Safe Environment Training Course. All this information with links and forms is listed on our website under “About”, then “Safe Environment.” Lourdes will be holding a Safe Environment Training Class on November 11 at which you will be able to do all of this. If you would like to take care of it before, please call me at the rectory. Please….it is imperative that anyone volunteering in the church follow this procedure. If you have any questions, please call me at the rectory Monday, Tuesday or Fridays. Thanks, Cheryl

LITURGY OF THE WORD FIRST READING IS 53:10-11

The LORD was pleased to crush him in infirmity.

If he gives his life as an offering for sin, he shall see his descendants in a long life, and the will of the LORD shall be accomplished through him.

Because of his affliction he shall see the light in fullness of days; through his suffering, my servant shall justify many, and their guilt he shall bear.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM PSALM 33

SECOND READING HEB 4:14-16

Brothers and sisters: Since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast to our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has similarly been tested in every way, yet without sin. So let us confidently approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and to find grace for timely help.

HOMILY

GOSPEL MK 10:35-45

James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to Jesus and said to him, "Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask of you." He replied, "What do you wish me to do for you?" They answered him, "Grant that in your glory we may sit one at your right and the other at your left." Jesus said to them, "You do not know what you are asking. Can you drink the cup that I drink or be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?" They said to him, "We can." Jesus said to them, "The cup that I drink, you will drink, and with the baptism with which I am baptized, you will be baptized; but to sit at my right or at my left is not mine to give but is for those for whom it has been prepared." When the ten heard this, they became indignant at James and John. Jesus summoned them and said to them, "You know that those who are recognized as rulers over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones make their authority over them felt. But it shall not be so among you. Rather, whoever wishes to be great among you will be your servant; whoever wishes to be first among you will be the slave of all. For the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many."

NICENE CREED

I believe in one God, the Father almighty,

maker of heaven and earth, of all things visi-

ble and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only

Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before

all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, con-

substantial with the Father; through him all things were made.

For us men and for our salvation he came

down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became

man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and

rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.

He ascended into heaven and is seated at the

right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his

kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver

of life who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored

and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic, and apostolic

Church. I confess one baptism for the forgive-ness of sins and I look forward to the resurrec-tion of the dead and the life of the world to

come. Amen.

RECESSIONAL Three Days

Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel

“St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against

the wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, we

humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power

of God, thrust into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about

the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.”
